  1. Yep exactly - the same player who gave up a hat-trick to allow goals for Reid & Kalinic. He had our only shot on target at weekend, which then set up a decent goal (but we didnt get), despite only being on the pitch for a short time. For me Roberts should go waaaaaaaaaaaaaay before Benni does.

  2. I'd like to hear a huge benni mcCarthy chant at ewood this saturday, best way to let him and sam know how we feel about this situation.

  3. C'mon SG (and others) use the old grey matter. Benny has intimated that he wants to go and to the best of my knowledge Jason Roberts hasn't! How the hell can we sell Roberts (or anyone else for that matter) if he decides to stay and see out his contract? This isn't 'Premiership manager' you know. Amazing how people come on here and scream about a lack of loyalty of our players when they choose to transfer out. Ex players get Judas Neill / One greedy barsteward / etc etc yet as soon as someone like Roberts / Ped / has a drop in form we have to rip up his contract and bundle him out of the door asap. ffs! Well done that man........ An island of common sense in a sea of idiocy.

  4. Agree 100%.Cant believe he will sell McCarthy before Roberts! Burnley, yes,f'kin Burnley, are being linked with a move.

  6. He picks the young and on-loan Di Santo ahead of him. Think that says a lot. And the 'get in the f***ing box' scream at Roberts during the Chelsea game sticks in my memory too. Meriem is due back in a couple of weeks. I take it they will look at him and see if he can solve a problem. If not it will be a case of looking elsewhere. The Di Santo thing will be clearer soon. A lot depends on Chelsea getting their signing ban lifted and buying one or two players in that position. Much as he is a real talent, do you think Chelsea would fancy their chances in the Premier League and Champions League if they had to use him for the seven or eight games when Drogba will be missing. It's too much of an ask. Hopefully common sense prevails and he stays at Rovers to add to his education and experience. The kid is an asset for Rovers right now, but really would not make an impact at Chelsea this season.

  7. For me Benni and Roberts should both be out of the door. When Benni plays everyone moans anyway....clearly we have had his best few years and he costs too much. Cannot believe we missed James Beattie last Christmas....how many has he scored this year? Much more a BFS player. The team needs incremental improvement...only 20% this year unfortunately, followed by 10% in January 2010 then another 20% in the summer. We have to be patient - it would just be useful to know what kind of beast this BFS Bolton Mk 2 is going to turn into. Our hopes rest on Dunny staying fit, keeping Samba, Kalinic coming thru, and NZonzi and Robbo continuing to improve(plus Givet finding a slot). That's the half of the team in place...then the 50% improvement over 2 windows.

  8. I'm not sure Benni is the answer to our problems, he certainly isn't in the current formation. I do agree though with those who question any idea of allowing him to leave at this point. At present we don't have a striker who can score goals, so getting rid of one who has in the past seems daft. Albeit McCarthy has done nothing for the last two years but with the World Cup coming up he should be highly motivated though I suspect he may be sulking. When the work experience kid leaves we'll have 3 strikers - with just a couple of goals between them to date? Crackers but then if you don't create chances you can't expect strikers to score.

  9. DITTO!!! I reckon Kalinic and McCarthy could be an awesome strikeforce!! I base that on no knowledge whatsoever, so does somebody want to fill in the gaps there? We could still play dunny behond them!

  10. Ask any outsider, our team/squad is very average these days, and we have been losing our best/better players at an intense rate - Benni is a quality player still and can score goals - getting rid in January is very risky. Even with a big financial outlay, seemingly, Sam still struggled to bring in a striker who could make an impact.

  11. Dunn, always a game away from injury Di Santo, leaving Benni, being ousted That leaves Kalinic and Hoilett to learn their trade from er, Roberts I'd say we need a couple of strikers if we ask Benni to go. One experienced PL one and probably another 6 month loan - preferably Di Santo.

  12. Not happy. Don't want Benni to go (although I realise he is on high wages) and don't want Heskey (good news that he is unlikely to be coming - there is a God). Fed up

  13. And if Dunn gets injured - far-fetched I know - what would you do then? We would have to play 4-4-2 and Benni is first choice for that formation, in my book anyway. Will any replacement for Benni be more 'ready' than have been Kalinic and Salgado? Any Jan signing has to step straight in. In the last 2 seasons we will have lost Bentley, Tugay, RSC and Benni, i.e. 95% of the skill from the team that finished 7th. Depressing.

  15. I have all the time in the world for Dunny, but relying on him to carry a team for a whole season just isn't very smart. With Benni on the pitch no one would have to carry the team and we would be much more likely to actually score.

  16. No Iceman he doesn't get caught offside from making runs. He gets caught offside because he is too slow and lazy to get back onside after an attack. There is an answer somewhere but it is not McCarthy. If he does not score you have played with ten men, much like playing with Andrews and perish the thought of having them both on the pitch at once. Much better to give Kalinic a run to find out if he is ever going to make it. At 20 he will get better. McCarthy will only get fatter, slower and lazier.

  17. I don't think Sam sees Benni as part of our plans. He's not the type of player Sam prefers up front. Yes, it is. Sam has his tactics, his method. Benni doesn't fit them. So Sam is doing the best thing for both Benni and the club and moving him on. Hopefully for a very good price. I might be reading too much into it, but the handshake Sam and Benni exchanged as Benni was being brought on was pure class. It looked like two professionals, both of whom knew what they were about. Benni might be unhappy and Sam may prefer another style striker, but both appear to be conducting themselves very well in regard to one another.

  18. A decent super hero movie like Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Iron Man, Spider-man 1/2? You've been pretty spoiled the last few years.

  19. Die Hard 4 is a top movie. There's no earthly way they could top that. It's stupid, but it's good stuupid. I really do like that ruck in the car park with the martial arts bitch. Classic stuff. John McLane, one of the all-time great movie characters. Welcome to the party pal! Number 1 was the best.

  20. Benni is without doubt the best finisher at the club and IMO one of the best finishers in the premiership. The problem with him, is not only his fitness and mental state, but also the fact that he can not play a lone target man role. He requires a partner, who will do all the donkey work- Sam obviously doesn’t fancy any of his strikers apart from Di Santo. Therefore whilst Sam is in charge it will probably be best to sell Benni, but with caveat attached- that whatever is generated in terms of funds/wages will be given back to the manager. As it would be pretty pointless to sell a player with Benni's undoubted qualities and be scratching around looking for cheap loans. We only have to look at the disaster that was last summers dealings, when Sam sold circa 28 millions pounds worth of players yet was given a budget of only 12 million in return.

  21. Mr Motivator? He's simply telling the truth, he saved us last year and Sam planned on him being in the team in a 4-4-2 this year, but Dunn has stopped that so far! "Benni wants to play football. For me last year he was excellent particularly at home in our plight to climb out of the relegation zone. "I was looking forward to the start of the season with him but all of a sudden we put David Dunn in at Gillingham away in the hole behind a front man. "He played so wonderfully well in that game that we have continued that position for him in the first team. He has grasped that position so well that he is our top, top player at this moment in time." Also references to Dunn getting injured are not unfair either - there is a good likelihood of it to be fair, although credit must go to Sam's team who have so far kept him fit for a good run of games.

  26. Not happy at all with this. STILL one of the best strikers at the club and now he wants out....what the hell did we all expect with Allardyce having seemingly frozen him out of the side? Why am I starting to get the feeling many blues are getting a tad restless with you Sam?....a player of his calibre should be part of your plans FFS! Never mind,we've still got 'Roberto' when Di Santo and McCarthy leave,we appear to be going backwards.

  27. Precisely. No one would carry the team. You can't play Benni on his own up front. You can't play Benni AND Dunny. Therefore you can't play benni.

  30. He bagged 9 goals when Sam came in last season. To RSC's 1, and Roberts 6. I agree he might not make a massive impact for Chelsea - The Africa Cup of Nations will take place in Angola from January 10-31. They will still have Anelka, Sturridge and attacking midfielders like Deco, Ballack & Joe Cole. Now no offence to the teams involved but Drogba & Kalou will only miss the following games: Saturday, 9 January 2010 - Hull v Chelsea, 15:00 Saturday, 16 January 2010 - Chelsea v Sunderland, 15:00 Wednesday, 27 January 2010 - Chelsea v Birmingham, 19:45 Saturday, 30 January 2010 - Burnley v Chelsea, 15:00 Di Santo should stay!

  31. Can't stand ITV's ludicrously biased commentary... Don't they understand that some viewers are neutral? "We are Football United." Yeah, right.

  32. The sky commentators earlier had the gall to compare the Champions of Europe vs Rubin Kazan to an FA Cup tie. It's World famous, you know.

  33. Of course it's one sided, it's a British team against a foreign team. Why would it be neutral? Cracking goal from Babel.

  35. Beattie always looks really up for it though, he always looks likely to score. To answer mhead's question-------Beattie wanted to come here, the manager wanted to buy him but there was no money available.Simple as that.
