  1. The window is starting to look a lot better now with Brereton and Reed through the door. I still think we need a pacey winger as a minimum especially now that Samual is injured. It's something we don't have in the squad. Looks like Brereton is going to play as the wide left attacker mostly. We've got a lot of options now with Rothwell and Palmer both starting off well too.
  2. Rodwell not ready according to Tony. Needs a couple of weeks training to get in the match day squad.
  3. Really pleased with this signing. Think he'll be useful over the season. Pity it's not permanent, but not the end of the world.
  4. Given where we are in the window, I'd take a couple on normal loans (rather than loan to buy). It worked out fine last season eg Armstrong. Would rather have the numbers in the squad even if they aren't tied down to an option to buy.
  5. I'm really keen for Reed to sign. The effort rate that Evans, Smallwood, Bennett and Rothwell are putting in isn't sustainable over a long season. We're going to need extra bodies. From what i've heard, he is a similar ball-winning player who snaps around in midfield. He'd also be good cover at right back, played there most of last season for Norwich. If Nyambe gets injured, currently it is a double blow as we're going to lose Bennett there to cover him.
  6. Get Barry Venky to put a counter bid in for Vardy.
  7. Great win, ground out with the available limited resources we have. Massive credit to Mowbray for getting the tactics spot on. Evans has been reborn as Javier Mascerano, fantastic again. Bennett is turning into Mr Blackburn Rovers, what an attitude and commitment level. Used really well in an advanced position to unsettle their defence when trying to play out from the back. Add back our creative players and a couple of signings and we can seriously think about top half in this league, maybe higher.
  8. It’s quickly turning into a terrible window for us, missed opportunity to capitalise on the momentum of promotion. 6 days left and it sounds like we’re scraping the barrel with this QPR guy.
  9. Get the font the same as the FACD. 51 original and this would be amazing.
  10. My team would be: Raya Nyambe/Lenni/Mulgrew/Bell Evans/Rothwell. Bennett Dack Palmer Graham I think Tony will play Smallwood instead of Rothwell. If Dack and Palmer don't play, it is going to be a struggle.
  11. "I used to think that the day would never come" Might not fit on. Love the idea of another new order flag.
  12. My Norwich and Southamption supporting friends both rate Reed. Apparently should be getting a chance with Southampton per the fans' view. Small, combative midfielder, lots of energy. Sounds like a good partner for Evans.
  13. True. I'd feel a lot more comfortable if we'd already signed a striker and a winger. Really hope that this summer isn't like that year when we thought Ince (?) was going to replace Bentley but no-one came in.
  14. If he's signed Rodwell to play centre back, he's hopefully not going to play much anyway. If he does play and is rubbish, we just bring downing in. Low risk as long as he doesn't upset the dressing room.
  15. Seems like a Plan D signing. Doesnt come with good wishes from Sunderland fans and there’s a danger he’ll upset the dressing room spirit if he’s attitude is bad. We have to trust Mowbray that he will get some form out of him, and get shut if he starts with a bad attitude.
  16. Unpopular opinion: could have done a job for us this season, given the current lack of width.
  17. I'm surprised Rovers weren't interested in Sims on loan from Southampton - ended up at Reading - but looks like the sort of player we need out wide.
  18. Observations: We shot ourselves in the foot twice with their 2 goals. Came out of nothing. Hopefully we’ll learn from this. This team does not know when it’s beaten, couple of years back we would have lost that with a whimper. We don’t look out of place in this league at all based on who we’ve played so far. Evans again was brilliant. Seemed to be everywhere. Rothwell, I’m not sure is ready to be a 90mins player, maybe better as impact sub. Did ok in the circumstances. Nyambe has a great game again. We desperately need a proper winger and striker (as we’ve all been saying all summer). Please god, we need Dack, Palmer and Armstrong fit for Saturday.
  19. I think this is the Mowbray way, to sit back at first and see how the opposition are set up. I agree, it doesn't help when we're at home because it gives the opposition confidence and makes everyone nervous. Millwall being the perfect example. We got away with it last season because the quality of Dack, Graham, Armstrong, Payne came through in the 2nd halves, but one day we'll be punished for it this season if we're not careful.
  20. Re: Chapman Given that we haven't signed any proper wingers yet and the window shuts in 9 days, i'd definitely take him on loan, even with his injury issues. He would be a great option off the bench as an impact sub. We haven't got a pacey winger in the squad and I can't see Mowbray magically finding someone else who would fit the bill.
  21. Would Brereton be happy sitting on the bench most weeks? We play 1 up front and currently the manager has Danny Graham as #1 and Armstrong as #2. That might come into consideration.
  22. Sounds like maybe 2 from Premier League clubs, young players.Any names?
  23. He also said we might have to move on to other targets.
  24. Reading Tony's comments in the LT, there's little to no chance of Smallwood being dropped anytime soon. I think we'll start as we did vs Millwall. Which means no Armstrong or Rothwell, but it's good to have decent competition and options off the bench for a change!
