  1. He’s played senior football and played well, but not much. He actually has a lot of potential, very quick, confident, can finish etc, but we’ve so many players with potential at the moment it would be frustrating waiting for yet another youngster to slowly “develop” under Mowbray. If we sell Armstrong we need quality. He may turn out great but there’s also a decent chance that he wouldn’t. Especially under Mowbray. If we didn’t have a squad full of young developing “talent” he might have been an interesting signing.
  2. Not sure why people want Obafemi, it’d be another unproven forward taking up a place. Mowbray would never play him and he’d keep McBride away from getting an opportunity.
  3. Two weeks to go, substantial outgoings yet no signings. Venky’s are letting him see his contract out. And honourable Tony knows it.
  4. I've encountered people who think Brereton will suddenly become a prolific goal machine.
  5. A never has been manager, serial failure, deluded and lazy. Incredible but not surprising he's still there. Unless things change I wouldn't be surprised to see us in a relegation battle this season, anything else will be blind luck.
  6. The types who still think it's jumpers for goalposts. You mention the club debt and all you get back is, "it'll be reyt, get behind the manager." The point is, the Brereton signing goes much deeper than just a disappointing signing. My opinion, but last season was our last chance. If only we'd had a manager who had built sensibly instead of gambling on a lad who on the whole has been a failure. That's no reflection on how Ben Brereton may develop, he may turn out to be a very good player. For me though, his signing (and the £5m on Gallagher) damaged any chances of us competing for the play offs in this league. Said it at the time and I still believe it now. I keep waiting for Mowbray to prove me wrong but then he'll go and play one of them at full back, or sign a crocked defender on more silly money.
  7. Unlike the "real fans" who couldn't give a flying f*** about the clubs debt or league position. Ra, ra f***ing ra... F*** off and support your local pub team you parochial tw**s.
  8. If you read my post you wouldn't have needed to ask that question. When Mowbray bought him we needed players, not a high stakes gamble. Silly signing when our mission, so we were told, was promotion. Mowbray has probably thrown away our last chance of that and his attempts at lowering expectations confirm that he knows it.
  9. FFP has always been stupid, a ludicrous rule conjured up by a twit in a suit.
  10. “I know what Blackburn fans can be like.” What? Expecting more for £7m, like a bleeding defence and a manager who hasn’t been lobotomised? There was much more to the Brereton signing than the lack of quality on the pitch. Probably never get the chance to compete again in this league - but hey Big Ben is beloved in Chile. That’s the main thing right.
  11. The only way Mowbray will sell him is if it makes him look good to Madame and co in Pune. So if someone offers £9m for BB, he'll be gone. Will turn a silly signing into a good one overnight for Mowbray purely in financial terms - though I and a lot of fans won't forget it.
  12. When we needed defenders, under the threat of ffp, and a goal of promotion a daft time to gamble with £7m. Funny how so many people don’t get that bit.
  13. I saw this thread bumped near the top of the forum and thought he'd gone for a moment. Back down to Earth I go.
  14. If that's true he's an absolute idiot and probably now planning to take BB out of his tombola. He'll still use it to keep his job either way. "£7m well spent, under my expert guidance he's an international footballer now Madam." Or... "Relegated - if only Ben Brereton had listened to me and not disrupted my pre-season masterplan for conquering this league."
  15. Nah, Tony will be seeing this as his own success story.
  16. Evidence suggests that there’s more chance of him turning into a Fiat Punto, but I hope so too.
  17. Hopefully it means we’re in with a better chance of eventually offloading him and recouping some costs now.
  18. Bennett and Johnson should be leaving too. Not sure why we are keeping Chapman. I guess Mowbray can’t sell Gallagher or Brereton as that would be admitting defeat. Glad to see many of the others leaving. Evans should have gone a long time ago. Bell just not good enough - though I’m surprised with TM’s tinkering ways, he wasn’t used as a winger.
  19. A connection... He does talk a load of crap.
  20. Best wishes to his daughter, what an awful time she's been though. We need a Tony Parkes statue to go alongside Jack.
  21. Tony Mowbray. Capable of choosing a team if the tombola stops working. Of choosing a working formation if he his daft experiments aren't paying off. Of signing decent players when he can be bothered. Of getting off his arse when he thinks his job may be in question. Of coming out of his coma during in an interview if someone says something he doesn't like. So capable of pulling a rabbit out of a hat when he needs to, if it means saving his own skin, not the clubs benefit. It's all about Tony. Tony Mowbray - Rovers laziest manager. Very self serving, reactive not proactive. We're now in the position where we need the league to contain enough abysmal teams to survive relegation because we have a crackpot who sleepwalks through a league season.
  22. If Mowbray is in charge he'll have ample opportunities, as has Evans and Bennett this season.
  23. Well done Barnsley. Please go Mowbray.
