  1. It's time the club commanded respect for itself and its supporters. We are Blackburn Rovers. We will play in our home kit whenever we can, changing the shorts to blue if necessary. If we need a change, red and black (or navy) halves with red or black/navy shorts should be it. Our owners are multi-billionaires and we needn't rely on shirt sponsors to dictate to us. Our pride and integrity must rise above marketing desires. N.B. I use the term "halves" because everyone else does. I still refer to our shirts as "quarters". A shirt cannot be divided into four halves. ?
  2. Never had hot water and I don't expect it. But modern effective hand driers wouldn't cost as much as Brereton, would they.
  3. "Wash your hands thoroughly using alcohol based soap/gel and water." In the Riverside bogs? And stand for 10 minutes trying to dry them with these antiquated hot air driers? Not me. I've decided I'm going to give this match a miss. I'm knocking on. I'd hate to catch this virus and pass it on to my better half who is of similar age. Also, when I buy my season ticket, I expect to miss the odd game or two during the season without expecting the club to re-imburse me.
  4. I'm so glad to hear they played so well. It sounds like we have a really good squad of young players. But, as far as progressing to the first team is concerned, there may be two or three if we're lucky. I think back to the youth cup winners of 1958 where all the players were excellent. Only Pickering, Newton and England eventually made it. Those three were outstanding and became internationals. But players like Mulvey, Daly, Griffiths, Ratcliffe ( who were the others...Leach, Wells, Simms?) didn't make it and faded from potential stardom. Hopefully the system has changed since those days and maybe more of the squad will develop thanks to modern coaching.
  5. As well as Lambert the other dour ones are Mourinho (of course )and Slaven Bilić.
  6. Earlier someone quoted Nyambe as having 0 assists. Can we update the statistics to 1 assist. ??☝️
  7. Dack won't be ready until next Christmas. In the meantime we have a huge summer transfer window. By November this year I haven't a clue what players we will have in the squad let alone how to line them up with or without Dack.
  8. Yep! From a Rovers supporter's point of view, the bottom of the championship is becoming exciting to watch for the rest of the season. I reckon Charlton, Luton and either Barnsley or Hull will go. I would love Barnsley to avoid it but time is running out for them. I expected them to be out of the bottom 3 by now with their new manager.
  9. This was a much more difficult game (on paper) than Stoke. I had a feeling before kick off that we would lose. We have so many injuries and a suspension. We did better than I expected. It was such a great feeling to cheer that Johnson equaliser. Thank goodness Nyambe forgot he was centre back for a few seconds and whipped that low cross in for our first goal.
  10. Whilst checking wiki's football manager list I noted David Dunn as Blackpool manager for 11 days. Of course he's just the caretaker manager. When I checked the managers and caretaker managers that Blackpool have had over the years I was surprised at how many are former players, managers or coaching staff from Rovers. Here's the list starting with Dunny and going back in time. David Dunn, Simon Grayson (2nd spell), Terry McPhillips, Gary Bowyer, Neil McDonald, Barry Ferguson, Paul Ince, Michael Appleton, Tony Parkes, Simon Grayson (1st spell), Colin Hendry, Sam Allardyce, Ron Suart. Allardyce and Appleton were there before coming to Rovers.
  11. I thought it was in, too. I think that's the first time Nyambe has tried a shot. I hope it's TM telling him to do so. I hope he tries it more often. What a shame it didn't fly into the top corner.
  12. I don't know. Last time I saw him was several years ago when he was still working for Rovers. Maybe SteB or others may know.
  13. I have to tell you this story again because every time I remember it I laugh. It is so true of football supporters in general, but especially Rovers fans. My son who lived in Spain was coming over. He was trying to arrange to meet up with Mr Lee Grooby, formerly of this site. He asked Lee what he normally did after a game at Ewood and Grooby replied,"Walk home despondently". ??
  14. OK. Maybe not pre-war but certainly pre 1950. I think Stuart could be right (for once?). My dad wore double breasted suits and coats and always wore a trilby hat. And I wore short pants up until the age of 12. So if that photo was say 1948 I would have been 5 years old and nowhere near Ewood Park. My dad would have been 46.
  15. Judging by the motor vehicles I'd say it was pre-war. When did trilby hats become fashionable?
  16. I am very very pleased with what TM is doing at Rovers. We are a very tough side to play against. We look so solid even when being battered by one of the best teams in the division. A big improvement to Brentford away last season. Good point today. Full of confidence for the rest of the season.
  17. If we win this one 2-0 will we be on for automatic promotion? Good luck, Rigger. Let us know how you get on. I suppose a taxi from Euston to Griffin Park is too expensive.
  18. It was a right wing corner taken by MGP. Instead of putting it into the penalty area or trying to score direct as he often did, MGP sent it pre-arranged to Tugay outside the box who hit it so sweetly on the volley. Two great goals that day. Nothing Fulham could have done about either goal.
  19. Yeah. A lot of games are quite dead at Ewood.
  20. Pity it wasn't our highest finish for 25 years. Looks like it's going to be Brentford's.
  21. We were played off the park today by the best team at Ewood so far this season. Referee was good for a change. Bryan, their left back, was excellent and gave as good as he got from Nyambe. He is a product of Bristol City youth and cost 6 million. And he was only one of 11 other excellent players. Rovers were outclassed. Bring on Hull.
