  1. While we’re talking about ex strikers, how about Yakubu? I was totally underwhelmed when I heard we’d signed him, but what a class act he turned out to be. Imagine how this season would have gone if we’d have had him on the end of a few crosses. There aren’t many videos of him, so sorry about the quality of this short clip.
  2. Who has said they expected him to boss the midfield twice a week, every week? I doubt anyone said he could - or said he would.
  3. His performances recently suggest to me that he was ready, more than ready a while back.
  4. Completely different kind of player. Dunny was an all action, make things happen midfielder. Wharton is different. He’s just the classiest player I can remember coming through for many, many years. I can’t think who to compare him to. Matty pinched my description of Adam. He’s a rolls Royce of a player.
  5. don’t always get what you deserve in football. Last week Coventry equalised with a handball, this week we were denied an equaliser for handball.
  6. How good would a 95th minute winner for us be? Barnes slicing into his own goal would do. Wouldn’t do the nerves much good though.
  7. and if he’s offered triple the money he’s on here at a top club he’d want to move wouldn’t he? I would.
  8. That wouldn’t come into it from Whartons viewpoint Philipl.
  9. I just wonder why Lineker decided to leave Leicester. A true Leicester fan if ever I saw one.
  10. Clubs will be in for him this summer, I’m pretty sure of that. Ultimately whether he moves or not will really be his decision. The only input rovers would have is the fee.
  11. I have to say though, rovers do play some good, eye catching football at times. Keep talking about it, but Adam Wharton really should have played much more this season. 18 yrs old and so classy. JDT……. You’ve slipped up there mate.
  12. We could do with big Sam back to show rovers how to close a game out. Get it into the corners and keep it there. Keep chipping it over the full back, turning the opposition round and running towards their own goal. Apart from Hedges - who cost us three points today - their goal was just pure bad luck. Absolutely gutted tonight.
  13. I think Rovers will suffer the consequences of Wednesdays game against Coventry. I expect a mentally and physically tired performance. 3-0 Preston in the real Lancs derby.
  14. I expect North End to give Wharton a kicking. A new challenge for the lad.
  15. I agree with all of that Miller11. I’m not particularly angry with the players this morning as some posters seem to be. I do feel sorry for them. To a man they worked their socks off. There were a lot of excellent performances and I really don’t think they could have done much more than they did. We are what we are, the players are who they are. Any shortcomings in this squad are entirely at the feet of the club management. Keep putting the effort in for the remaining games. Make use of Wharton who’s a rolls Royce of a player. The lad has a technique as good as any young player we’ve had for as far back that I can remember. Enjoy him, he won’t be here long.
