When people argue that signing players doesn’t come with guarantees …….. it never did and it never will. However the bottom line to all this is…… Sign second division players, get second division football. If you’re shopping in dodgy leagues you’re far more likely to get duds.

Nothing to do with the manager - or any other manager IMO. man for man, position for position Spain had technically superior players, superior footballers than us. Players that understand how to play the game. It’s been that way for 58 years now. We’ve had how many managers in that time? Which manager could have seen us outplay Spain tonight with that squad? It’s never been the intention of law makers to make any contact between ball and arm/hand an offence. If it was an offence, there would be no need for anything else. What I’m saying is what Arbitro said after my post. If VAR spots a possible handball then ask the referee by all means to take a look. He should be looking for only one thing - was it deliberate? Surely nobody would have given a penalty for that last night. The correct decision would have been made. I would suggest don’t get VAR involved for any handball incidents but that’s not realistic in todays game.

“Natural position” this, “unnatural position” that, “arm movement” here, “close proximity” there. Utterly ridiculous. The laws of the game say it has to be intentional handball. If the VAR officials were given that simple task to base their decision on, it would be so much easier and so bloody obvious in 99 cases out of 100.

How do you know he wouldn’t have got a call up while he was with us? There’s every chance he would have done IMO. His talent is just so obvious. Rovers could and should have kept hold of him for as long as possible. His value as a player to us and potential transfer fee down the line we’re to our benefit. One thing stands out to me. No one at the club knew how good he is. They were more than happy to sell him immediately.

Adam never gets caught on the ball. He doesn’t hold it long enough. He’s controlled it, seen his pass and moved it before anyone can get near him. Best young midfielder Rovers have brought through since Ronnie Clayton?
