Rovers fans used to gather in the Darwen end then. They would wait for the toss and make a dash to the Blackburn end if rovers were kicking that way. Then at half time they would make their way back again. No fencing or barriers to stop them.

I was. started off on the Darwen end and changed ends with the team. I was 14 at the time. Wow.
-
I gave you the teams and scorers above Jim.

What would be brilliant would be to hear from someone who was at both the Spurs and West Ham games. Such as Duggie🙂 Ive no idea how Bryan’s health is or whether anyone on here is in contact. That would be great though. Trying to think who’s still alive from that team. Mike England is I think. Andy McEvoy?

10 wicket win at Surrey with 27 overs to spare.

I remember seeing some of the goals on BBC lunchtime news.

again, that was no ordinary West Ham team. Moore, Hurst and Peters. I wonder if anyone here went or knew anyone that went? 26th December 1963. West Ham 2 - 8 Blackburn Rovers.

but did that lot at the Turd then go on and beat Bobby Moore’s West Ham 8-2 (8-3?) at Upton Park in the same season? Dont mention a couple of days later. That doesn’t matter.🙂

Think the team was Else Bray Newton Clayton England McGrath Ferguson McEvoy Pickering Douglas Harrison.
-
The great Danny Blanchflower is one of those photos I think. Totally destroyed by Duggie and crew that day. ferguson, Pickering and Mike Harrison celebrating in another.

Technically they are very good. Well coached as well. Becoming professional has improved the women’s game no end. It used to be awful.

I was at that game as well. I still believe that was the best rovers side I saw. Amazingly, some pics. https://www.facebook.com/groups/182176072408848/permalink/974654313161016/

Might see you there then👍🙂

The new ground will only be about two miles from me 47er, so personally that’s great. It’s a few miles outside Preston. For people not living in the area it’s not easily accessible though. Lostock hall station is fairly close but it’s on the east Lancs line, not the main line. There’s Leyland station which is a fair walk especially for the elderly who make up the majority of county championship fans. There are buses but not an ideal way to get from Leyland station to Farington for a cricket match. On the plus side there is motorway access. There will need to be enough on site parking Though.

Still going through planning process I think. I really don’t understand why they’re building it it where it is.
