  1. Polio vaccine 1965. Some of our posters will have memories of the polio outbreak in Blackburn and how it affected the town and the team. I seem to remember the town was shut off to outsiders (or the advice was to stay away). My mum and Dad wouldn’t let me go to the rovers games at that point. I also remember that because of that outbreak, rovers didn’t start their season on time meaning they were rooted to the bottom of the table and never recovered. Relegated just 3 seasons after the great team of 63/64.
  2. A truly ambitious and well run club with mega rich owners would look to build on their assets, not sell them.
  3. The most important part of that Broughton interview for me was the enforced cut in the wage bill of 15% on top of the club having to finance any buys itself. That is the owners cutting their financial input significantly with no guarantees of future commitment. That’s a huge backward step and must leave everyone at Ewood in the dark and quite worried. How can any kind of plans be laid under those circumstances? Very difficult and hard to see how any kind of progress can be made. Indeed the opposite is far more likely I.M.O.
  4. Fabulous article from Fred Cumpstey. Thanks for posting this. I remember all of that but wasn’t fortunate enough to be at Villa Park on that day. Fergie was a magician. His close ball control, the way he just waltzed past opponents with the greatest of ease made him the perfect man to replace Duggie at inside left. He did that with such success. I’ll never forget him as I doubt anyone who saw him will. just reinforces my belief that that forward line, indeed that team was the best I ever saw.
  5. Well to be fair, it shouldn’t be happening. At a club where everyone was pulling in the same direction it wouldn’t be happening. It’s up to Waggott to sort it out.
  6. Hmmm. There was a sudden, drastic cut to rovers budget Philip. You’re talking about a change to process. That hasn’t happened overnight.
  7. Just to clarify on the money being quoted in the first article. It gives this figure £73,96,069 It’s written using the Indian method of quoting money. If you look closely, it says £7,396,069. That’s how we would write it. It isn’t £73m.
  8. I’ll have a go. 1 crore is ten million. Ten million rupees is £95000 therefore 65 crore is £6,175,000
  9. I don’t think anyone at Ewood or in India, has the will to do anything - about anything - any Rovers manager says. They're all just going through the motions. Sticking to their job and not going beyond it. In industry fine. Not in football though.
  10. Yes it does matter at this point. It gives everyone - players, manager, fans - a sense of hope. It’s a hell of a lot better than being clueless from K.O. I/we’ve seen this before though. You can play some really good football but eventually if you’re not winning confidence suffers and performances fall away. This is where the transfer window was so very important. There has to be enough quality throughout the squad to win games. The backing to ensure that isn’t there. That’s the gamble that the owners have taken. They have decided we don’t want, or can’t afford a recognised championship goal scorer. I’ve no doubt that they either don’t understand the importance of that or they just don’t care anymore. JDT will know that as do pretty much all of us. Don’t know why I bothered posting this really. It’s so bloody obvious.
  11. I have to wonder why a 23yr old fast and powerful goal scorer is still playing in the 4th division of the German league.
  12. Heading ability won’t hold a midfielder back Tyrone.
  13. Anyone scouting players will look for any weaknesses in a player. Weaknesses that can’t easily be addresses with coaching or experience. Weaknesses that could stop a player reaching the top. Anyone seen any in Adam?
  14. Whartons bit of magic yesterday https://x.com/rovers/status/1696246208996466842?s=46&t=wT27yUdXILU0s10X6MNvTQ
  15. I was impressed today. I thought we played really well. Watford will think they were unlucky but rovers were never outstretched or outplayed IMO. Defensively we were organised and mistakes were rare. We were caught out with the balls inside Brittain a number of times but that was about it. When you’re trying to make judgements on a player, watch him away from home. Today showed up Leonard’s frailties. He has a lot to work on. Dolan, well did he ever find another team mate when he was on? I was also just saying to my son how Hedges does a lot of running with the ball but rarely creates or scores. Within minutes, guess what happened! Got to mention Adam Wharton again. I don’t think I can remember the last time I saw a young rovers player with the passing ability that he’s got. First time passes, no first touch needed. He can do everything. Some of the things he does, some of his vision is Messi-like. He’s not there yet. He could contribute a lot more during the 90 minutes and he could reduce the number of times he concedes possession, all things any manager would demand. If you can’t get excited by his abilities though, then I really don’t know what you want. Good show today but real team strengthening required up front.
  16. I remember him too.
  17. I didn’t know him but it’s an incredibly sad story. Had he been Ill?
