  1. I thought you might have been there Bazza. I’ve not knowingly met anyone who was there. I’ve never even spoke to anyone who went to the final. I know many rovers fans fell out with the club and never went to Ewood again over allegations that fans couldn’t get tickets while players were making money selling them. There is a video of the full game against Wolves on YouTube. Although there were the allegations and rovers lost the game I personally watch the video and see stills of that final and feel proud of those players and the club at that time. Did you make the final Bazza (or anyone else)?
  2. Rovers vs Sheffield W. FA cup semi final at Maine road 1960. Two Cheyenne goals.
  3. At 20 years old a striker should be ready for the first team.
  4. He’s not a youngster either. He’s 24. All goalkeepers make top saves. The best ones are the consistent ones - the ones who very rarely make the big gaffes. You can count on one hand the number of absolute clangers the best keepers make in their entire career. I’m very doubtful about Leo.
  5. Keeping you’d see at junior school. Happening too often. Worrying.
  6. Certainly do. The most uncomfortable things ever. Leather was Rick hard. *rock hard.
  7. I believe the North End player is Bill Cranston. Tommy Hutchinson was MOTM.
  8. Another one. PNE vs Blackpool 1970. Blackpool promoted, North End relegated. Who scored a hat trick for Blackpool in a 3/0 win?
  9. 😀 well football obviously. I don’t see why we can’t expand a bit. If mods aren’t happy, then please remove. Here we go. Pitches that yesteryears footballers had to contend with.
  10. Is there any objection to opening this up to non rovers related nostalgia?
  11. I don’t really agree with that OJF. I think the entertainment level depends on the closeness of the game, the wicket etc like it does in any format. I watched a Lancs 50 over game last season where over 700 runs were scored in the day. Which other format gives you that? Unlike the T20 it allows for the hard hitting alongside the need to build an innings. All I would say is that if it’s a crap game then it’s a longer day to suffer. There again Test matches used to provide 5 days of suffering when scoring rates rarely got above 2 per over.
  12. I would argue that not one player - batting or bowling- has been anything but poor or worse in every game. Maybe Rashid has done the best. How often do you see that throughout a series? Something is very wrong. The team is ageing but I don’t see the replacements anywhere. We are in for a long spell in the wilderness I reckon.
  13. I would suggest that what we have now is a large chunk of cricketers who have become individual freelancers who simply follow the money. They play for anyone anywhere to the highest bidder. I’ve been a member at LCCC for the last couple of seasons. Don’t get me wrong I’m thoroughly enjoying it. However it’s so very obvious that the only players playing county cricket nowadays are the young lads making their way in the game, or -and this might sound cruel - those that can’t get on the money go round. The fans realise it and just don’t turn up for county games. The players they want to see, those contracted to LCCC who should be representing their counties are anywhere but at those counties. Cricket started to follow football quite some time ago. maybe some of these bigwigs have lost all sense of direction. Maybe they’ve got dizzy on that money go round. Or maybe they’ve just run out of time and can’t do it now. I don’t know what the answer is. There isn’t a quick answer though.
  14. I doubt anyone can say definitively because we still have a lot of top players but not necessarily world class players nowadays - as we did under Eoin Morgan. Morgan is the difference. We miss his leadership, his batting and his insight. We also don’t have the Hales or the Roys and a number of others around the squad that we used to have. The bowling is much weaker and Stokes not bowling is another big loss. Livingston isn’t good enough. That doesn’t really explain why we’ve dropped off so badly, so quickly. I think it’s the end of an era.
  15. England are completely shot. No leaders, no confidence. In all honesty the cracks were showing just before the World Cup.
  16. Every credit. Rovers had to work hard for that and they did.
