Norwich - tempting fate
Bigdoggsteel replied to philipl's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It's frustrating with Lenihan, whenever he gets going and we see how important he is to the team, something stops the momentum. Sickness this time. Will we ever see him stay healthy for a full season? We haven't a hope of winning on Saturday without him. It will be Mulgrew and Williams. -
We weren't debating their speed or comparing them in anyway. Anyway, of the two I think Brereton has more about him, but ya, jury is out on whether either will make top Championship strikers, let alone Premier league players.
-
Henry. A tall striker who wasn't great at heading, but was world class. You avoided responding to that example the other day. Did you bring your ball home?
-
Who is rewriting history? Please explain
-
I thought about him too, but googled it then and apparently he has the Premier league record for most headed goals I was surprised because I wouldn't have said heading was his best attribute, even though he is so tall.

2018/19 Season Reviews/Conclusions
Bigdoggsteel replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Ya, I am trying to think of a time where a club basically demoted captain and I can't. Even Hanley is club captain at Norwich, but doesn't really start. Not sure how that works to be honest. Lenihan as captain just feels right at this point. I think he is ready and it would bring out the best in him. I would be happy for Mulgrew to stay, just not as a starter. -
Exactly. It wasn't and isn't easy. I hate when people say we got promoted because "shrewsbury collapsed". They might have had a stutter near the end, but our points total would have been enough to get promoted pretty much any season you pick out.

2018/19 Season Reviews/Conclusions
Bigdoggsteel replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
My main conclusion is that Lenihan needs to be made captain for next season https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/rovers/news/17593430.is-darragh-lenihan-rovers-long-term-captain-in-waiting/ -
Summer Transfer Window 2019
Bigdoggsteel replied to Neal's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Sharpes article in the LT today says it looks more unlikely than likely that Rodwell will stay here. Not sure what he is basing that on, but there must be something as it's the most out on a limb call I ever remember him making. Usually he doesn't say one way or another on anything transfer or contract related -
Most sensible post I have seen from you on here. Keep it up man
-
Sshh Surprising, although you would have to admit it wasn't the main focus of his game. Also put Brereton in that united team and I bet he would have scored a fair few with his head, hard to miss when on a plate

I am highly offended actually!

Championship 2018-19
Bigdoggsteel replied to Cherry Blue's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It's a good game to have. I hope our players look around and think "this could be us next season if are more consistant" -
I said he was our tallest player, you said ya but he can't header it. I should have just responded "ok" , because it seems anything more complicated goes over your head You entire argument revolving around asking people to name tall strikers who weren't good in the air is confusing and silly. I am not sure what point you are trying to make to be honest. I will play along though, here's one for you; Thierry Henry. Another? Ok- Teddy Sheringham? How about Anelka? Gonna move some goalposts are we

Bit harsh to pinpoint that as being the sole reason
-
In fairness he did introduce Travis last season and he made a @#/? of it by displaying a lot of immaturity against Portsmouth. Now I think he did exclude Travis for too long after that, so I can see both sides of it. I think the fact that Evans and Smallwood are such an uninspiring combination , leads to fans thinking that literally anyone would be better, but it is up to the young lads to take their chance when offered it.

Summer Transfer Window 2019
Bigdoggsteel replied to Neal's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Exactly. Lenihan and Dack need to be shown that this club is a vehicle to fulfill their ambitions. If we don't, I couldn't blame them for wanting out. -
Summer Transfer Window 2019
Bigdoggsteel replied to Neal's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I thought the exact same, but hopefully we are just looking into it too much. Mowbray should give him the captains armband on a full time basis. If we lose him it would be very frustrating, as we need to be strengthening there , not getting weaker -
It's an important asset for "some" strikers. Just because Brereton is tall, doesn't mean his game has to revolve around heading. If he does the other parts of the game well, that's the important thing. It would be great if his heading did improve and became a key part of his game, which is possible as he is only 19. Lets not start comparing and contrasting him(or anyone else) to Shearer. They will lose

Summer Transfer Window 2019
Bigdoggsteel replied to Neal's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Ya, I think so too. Of all players I think he may be the one we get the most interest in -
Not the be all and end all, plenty of players have had great careers without being brilliant at heading.
-
I think we could regret it if we don't sign him. I think this season will stand tom him and next season could be even better. I think he is a far safer bet than a young lad or League 1 player. Replacing him could be expensive.
-
Ya and if he does he could be a serious unit. Looking yesterday he is the tallest player we have, put some muscle on that and he could be a real handful
-
He isn't playing upfront. Instead of leaving Armstrong on the wing, where he usually plays and playing Brereton upfront, he pulls a Mowbray and over complicates it As I said though, good team and class to see Lenihan as captain.
-
That's actually a great line up and bench in every way. I would prefer Armstrong on the wing though and Brereton upfront but Tony has his odd queue system. No Evans and Smallwood in the squad. That's interesting. It would suggest Smallwood is maybe off, not sure about Evans as I think Mowbray does rate him, he claims to anyway. Anyway, exciting line up and bench. Well done Tony
