We all just want him to do well so I think we cling to any positives. He has a long way to go though. Not what we needed or when we needed it. Stupid signing in reality.

Mowbrays Successor
Bigdoggsteel replied to Darwen Rover 007's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The more I think about the situation,I'm starting to fear the best we can hope for is some fudge on Mowbray leaving like him moving to DOF with Johnson as head coach. If he isn't sacked before the end of the season, he will be here game 1 next season. Obviously the logical thing would be to change now to give a new manager time. -
There aren't too many CB partnerships I could see those two get the better of. 2 "big men" whose weakest attribute is strength. Only at Rovers.
-
I'm just amazed didn't even have one season where he banged them in since leaving. It wasn't his choice probably, but it's a pity he didn't stick around a bit longer
-
Have we not suffered enough? Ah no,I suppose if we got safe, it's kind of now or never isn't it
-
Every team is ultimately set up to feed the centre forward(s). We have been very clunky going forward though and from a personal point of view, Armstrong has been guilty of being part of that, along with being excessively selfish in some games. I just don't think he should be absolved from any scrutiny, just because of where he is on the scorers chart. Needless to say a potential front 2 next season of Gallagher and Brereton absolutely terrifies me.
-
You think Armstrong is a better finisher than Rhodes? I disagree about that. Rhodes was lethal from anywhere in the box. Didn't need too many chances either. Ya he barely played, or for Scotland. It's mad. I honestly thought he would make it to the PL, even allowing for the weaknesse in his game.
-
Maybe £15 million would be the most we would get anyway. Talk of 25-30 is fairly unrealistic, even if he had longer on his contract. Maybe he will sign a new deal
-
Rhodes a far better finisher, crucial difference
-
They did at the start of the season. It was all set up for him, but we got found out. Shearers record throughout his career showed he would score goals, whatever the team, whover the teamates, so not sure that's a great example to be fair
-
I think Dack could play PL. Could see a promoted team taking a gamble on him. He has that x-factor that I think would lead to a manager taking a chance on him. Even as an impact sub,you could thrown him on and he might make something happen Unlikely it will happen if this injury is as bad as feared though
-
I never said he was shit. Just extremely greedy and not a team player at times. You're misunderstanding. It's not "an agenda". Just that he's open to criticism too. You could see his game change around the Bristol city match, some refused to acknowledge that. Now they still won't. My point on scoring so many at the start is simple, we were flat track bullies then, the entire team. Got found out then, him included. I have no doubt he could get back scoring at a good rate in the correct system. I also think he will be here next season, because I can't see a PL club pay what we want due to his all round game not being good enough for that level. He's pretty one dimensional this season. Not of the worldies like last season. In fact whether it's the system or what, he barely even make use of his pace anymore. I look at him and Shane Long, 2 speed merchants, both very different strengths to their games after that. Who will have the better career? For reference Long has played over 300 PL games. Will Armstrong get there when say Rhodes struggled? Time will tell.
-
Not half no. Ya,Mowbray is a problem alright. Armstrong has scored roughly the same amount in the first 2 months of the season as he has between now and the end of last November. The entire team has been found out and has been unable to adapt.
-
He scored roughly the same amount in the first 2 months of the season as he has between now and the end of last November so. Agree Mowbray will be here, what a disaster
-
When did he say this?
-
How many has Armstrong scored in the last 20? Our centre forward. Flat track bullies the lot of em
-
The reason why is because him and Nyambe are good competion for that position. I would like to see him played in his favoured position, no idea what that is
-
Maybe in a different system. I don't see any combination of those 3 being good enough to get promoted. Davenport struggles with injuries too I haven't seen Whitehall. What kind of player is he?
-
We would be very light in midfield ,both in numbers and phyisicality

Mowbrays Successor
Bigdoggsteel replied to Darwen Rover 007's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It's a phenomenal record he had at PSV actually. I didn't realise that. Agree on Jackett. Meh -
Think that's fairly harsh on JRC. Nyambe is highly rated and it's not like it makes a huge difference which one plays there. If it's not JRCs natural position, fair play to him, because he's decent there.
-
Any of those midfielders who are out of contract , could potentially re-sign, if they don't, we will have their wages freed up. It's not the worst situation. I think we will still have some decent options left and we will surely add to that. I think the issue that's scaring me is it's very likely the manager will be here. What can we as fans do if that's what they decide? So it'll be that atmosphere again like it was with Kean. I'm not comparing the 2 men at all.
-
Put Pickering and Armstrong in there and it's not the worst starting 11
