  1. Pretty sure King Kenny signed Beardsmore.
  2. "We’re trying to see if we can make him a centre half by occupation. But then I look at the goals against column and think it’s an area where we have to create competition" - Mogga The above quote is the one that I think is the most important from the Rodwell article. Going off what has been said in the last few months Rodwell wants to start. He also possibly wants to start in midfield (Mowbray alluded to it a few months ago). Mowbray, however, clearly sees him as an CB (a footballing CB in the Mulgrew mould). What he unfortunately has in common with Mulgrew is that he is a poor defender. What gives me hope from that quote is that Mowbray IMO doesn't see Rodwell as a starter. Mowbray therefore needs 2 CB's and a at least one FB in the summer if he wants to create 'competition'. Sharpe mentions in the article that CB and FB additions are 'likely'. Here's hoping. If Mowbray has pretensions of the play-offs next season he needs a re-vamped defence as a priority. The majority of his current defenders, quite simply, can't defend. Every other reason for our appalling defensive record (mentality, sitting back etc) are just excuses.
  3. Bamford at £7m was an excellent signing. Proven goalscorer at this level and a quality footballer. If he hadn't been injured Leeds would have more points on the board.
  4. Or...….the players had lost faith with his tactics after a season of away hammerings so begged him to try something else. He relented because after a season of away hammerings he's run out of ideas. The game starts and the usual away hammering is looking likely. Tony reverts to the system that has resulted in a season of away hammerings and we get a draw. Tony takes credit for reverting to a system that has been unsuccessful all season away from home.
  5. They've drawn their last 4 games. We've arrested our losing streak with a draw. It's gonna be a draw. Tony will 'put the point in the bag' and move on. 2-2
  6. Oh and it wasn't a problem t'other week. Now it's the 'elephant in the room'.
  7. "I think the team when they get in front late in a game they try and protect the lead, and that’s the wrong thing to do I think" https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/rovers/news/17467972.tony-mowbray-on-rovers-conceding-so-many-late-goals/ What we all have to remember is it's not Tony's fault. It's not because we blatantly can't defend, or because we cant retain possession to see out the games because we hoof it a lot, or because the fitness may be an issue. No, it's a mentality thing which is the players fault.
  8. Please tell me it's an actual written note, in a notebook, done in front of them. ?
  9. Cant believe Philip Bailey has been erased from history. Easybeats - Friday On My Mind
  10. I know a few Nobbers who starting watching Rovers in the 90s. All lads I went to school with who watched PNE all through school and their early 20s and then suddenly found a love of Rovers around 1992. They probably watch Burnley now.
  11. Proud Preston haven't had a team for 50 years. All they've got left to throw at us is that when we were brilliantly successful not long ago a few of their fans came to watch us. Somehow that makes our fans 'Plastics' . ? They haven't worked out the irony yet. In fairness though if you've had to watch your team apply for re-election to the league because they're utter shite then it would probably have lasting psychological consequences. If you've also had to watch all your rivals get in the Prem because they are all better than you then you're probably going batshit crazy by now. Pity them.
  12. I'm always getting them two mixed up.
  13. Batty got lucky that night. Le Saux would have battered him. Soft Yorkshire tw....
  14. Devaluing the product is a nonsense concept when it comes to discussing ticket prices at Ewood. Rovers aren't a Gucci bag with an exclusive clientele who will go somewhere else if the product becomes too cheap and affordable to the masses. Rovers are a Bag for Life with limited appeal.
  15. This thread is sooo Middle Class dahlings!
  16. You're wrong, that's exactly what the Golden Shoe is. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Golden_Shoe Edit - I'm wrong. You're right. Humblest apologies.
  17. He isn't running a business. He is a qualified coach who is letting non-qualified personnel tell him what to do. There is nothing refreshing about that.
  18. So by 'delegating' responsibility, instead of managing, the team suffered.
  19. If he's the only one who has admitted to it how do you know other managers do it?
  20. Ask @Paul Mellelieu, he drew the boards attention to it and he's a very positive individual who loves Tony very much. However, as you've asked the question, I would suggest that Tony appears to be abdicating responsibility for match day tactics. Have you ever heard a football manager admit the players tell him what system to play? I can't say I have. Maybe the senior group have all got their coaching badges and are qualified to coach in the Championship? Maybe other managers in the league let the senior players dictate tactics? If Conway looks after the discipline, and the players do the coaching, it does beg the question what does Tony actually do when not enjoying biscuits?
  21. Probably cos you're being negative about our glorious leader. We heard you the 1st time anyway. Give it a rest for God's sake.....sorry I turned into you then for a minute. Anyway, the article you mention is very worrying. This is the bit you must be referring to:- "I have a senior group within the players that we discuss what the best way of going about football is sometimes, and they wanted to play a deeper block, rather than playing so high up the pitch, particularly against a team who have (Lukas) Jutkiewicz up front and play a lot of long balls up to him. They were a bit afraid of being caught out by the ball being played over their heads.I believe our team is a high intensity, front foot football team that at its best can beat anyone. We changed our tactics and it worked and we almost won the game.” He really should just stop talking.
  22. Rovers, Bolton, Wigan, Burnley and Blackpool have all been in the Premier League. Morecambe, Fleetwood, Accy and Preston haven't. Proud Preston.
