  1. My gripe is being turfed out of the BE upper without consultation, not wanting to sit in the new family stand as I don't like the position, ditto Riverside, and the JW is too expensive in this league. I will pick and choose the odd game as a result. Waggott has missed tricks. Big time. BTW, I have never been courted by the club, despite being a supporter for forty years plus, and they have my text/email/mobile number.
  2. Privileged to be at the shed of a ground in the open side when Souey's side took us back up in 2001. Matty in his prime, May 2nd. 17,000 there, and did we party!
  3. Well with a devalued International weekend ahead, and the good news that we sell out our full allocation at our noisy neighbours, time to look at the match in prospect. When I did the Villa preview, I had a Villa acquaintance, but in this case I have never befriended a Nob Ender. Too cocky and lack sensible conversation. So my facts are mainly based on books (banned in the city), the internet (most are on SHPO's not to access the www), and personal observations. Again, both clubs were inaugural members of the 1888 football league, where unfortunately they did the league and cup double. Despite being beaten at their hovel (att: 9,000), we could only draw at Leamington Road, but still our attendance was 12,000. Since then, our fortunes have improved, and whilst our head to head in the league is still in the red (W 31, D 29, L 41), we have won more league titles then them, 3-2 (I include the PL title as the top division, a place they have never met us of course). Their highest home attendance in the league is 42,684 against Arsenal in 1938, whilst we entertained them on the Boxing Day 1921 where 52,656 turned up. Their capacity is now somewhere just north of 23,000, average attendance this season 13,329. That will be swelled by the massed hordes of blue and white on the day. They are currently 18th, and have eight fewer points. Their home form has included three wins, QPR, Brentford, and the thumping of Wigan. They have lost to Reading and WBA. Our last win there was the 2-1 game November 15, where a certain Jordan Rhodes penalty secured the points. Preston the facts: The first bit of motorway in Britain was the Preston bypass, constructed in 1958. If I'd have had my way, it would have been built a lot sooner, as anything to avoid driving through Preston can only be a good thing. The word teetotal was apparently coined by the Temperance Society of Preston in 1833. Perhaps as a tribute there should be a blanket ban of their fans talking total shite whilst under the influence on the day? Apparently the first KFC was installed, outside the US of A, in the then town (1965). There was a queue to Penwortham on day one to experience the town's first fine dining emporium. It was the first town to be lit by gas. Shortly after the first KFC was opened allegedly. Blackburn, the facts: We have a proper Cathedral, despite being the most successful town team of all time....... We have the better ground....thank you Jack, the best benefactor of all time......... We have the better history of winning trophies........... We do not consider PNE as a rival.... We have had a supporter play Doctor Who..... Oh, and a bit of bully........ The Beatles featured us in a song...... The smallest dog in British history (a Yorkie) was born in the town.......... All you need to know..... A little rest for our players can only help. Charlie should hopefully be back. TM will tinker a bit because he always does. Debate will rage as to the starting eleven (not my job), and the Nobbers will still believe it's their biggest game ever. So whilst I cannot be there, I wish the five and a half thousand true blues a safe trip, a rampant return, and three points. Put simply, TM's blue and white army!
  4. They are strolling the league, after nine games they are unbeaten, just seen off the team who are third, away. Plus 49 GD. Totally agree. Man Ure parachuted into the league above with no history. As usual, small town club bias.
  5. I have been to Villa and been in some horrible upper stand, where you couldn't see anything, similar at Everton. Easy to shut off the access behind the Riverside towards BE and control via DE? Charge them whatever we want it's our ground!!
  6. I was more for them being chucked in the River Darwen if they misbehaved?
  7. I loved standing under the concrete BE, excellent idea, but even cheaper. £12 to stand!
  8. So shut the Riverside, it's the oldest stand, and where the cameras are, some restricted views, and the front open to the elements. Open up the full BE, and Lower DE, same price as Riverside, and make the JW the premium stand? I'd go back to the BE upper at Riverside prices, and would create more atmosphere. Otherwise split the DE as before. Or give the opposition the Riverside? So we have both ends....endless possibilities!
  9. 7-0 v Forest, they seem to be out of their league, and really should have gone up last season,
  10. 6-1 yesterday against Stoke Ladies, top again, two games in hand. The club should reward them with a game at Ewood. Scoring for fun, would be good entertainment.
  11. Just reading the tributes to Leicester owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, and comparing the obvious affection with which the fans, players and staff hold for him, to our shower. He attended every match, donated to good causes, cleared their debt, without then going on to rack up huge debts of his own. Most of all he seemed passionate about his purchase. Compare and contrast indeed.
  12. https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2018/oct/23/womens-football-gates-main-stadiums?CMP=share_btn Interesting article. Play a ladies game before the 3 o’clock ko?
  13. The boardroom was transported, as was, from the old Nuttall Street stand. It contains the model of the new Riverside stand.......oh for the days of Jack!
  14. As a ST holder for the best part of 40 years, prior to the Loon invasion, I went to the Oxford match with my son. We had a great time.....he has issues, and we had to leave at the pitch invasion as he was upset. I was looking forward to the feel good factor thereafter. The club failed to deliver. They missed a massive trick. They have my details. They send texts to my son via my phone, but not to me! I had great seats in the upper BE. They threw us out without consultation, I cannot afford JW ST's, and they continue to insult our intelligence without any plausible explanations (other than clear orders from above to maximise away support), and piss folk off. Is it any surprise attendances are not increasing significantly? As has been said, we are treated with disdain. Fill the away end and make it at a home game for the scum. Plenty of police overtime, as they are all complaining about their cuts in pay. I find it very hard to return.
  15. Surely 20 million is madness, but will get the Loons juices flowing. Dack will be sold at their right price.
  16. It's good that we can have a chat! As it is a Blackburn team and they are doing well, we should talk about it. If we ever get back to the PL they should surely follow!
  17. I just think that they should have some recognition, but was it a lack of funds from the "owners", that prevented our promotion, having won the league?
  18. Can you update the list and I'll put my name down for one as all are currently taken?
