  1. Its called 'If' by Rudyard Kipling.

I have a copy of it on my bedroom wall, its my favourite.

  2. My apologies! You knew what I meant though! Re The Millstone, I had the fish curry last time out, and it was average but maybe just caught a bad batch. I never see the appeal in having fish and chips at a proper restaurant!
  3. Went in the Freemans in Wiswell this evening with a business contact. Stuck to the set menu, three courses for £15.95. For the standard of food you get its an absolute bargain. (offer runs between 5.00pm - 6.30pm Tues-Thu) That being said I don't think you could go their often, the food is very nouveau cuisine and looked really pricy if you have a steak, meat or any fish off the main menu. My family and I have been going to the Millstone a lot recently and that in my opinion is a better dining experience for half the price. Much more relaxed plus its good honest food. (In particular, the steak and kidney pie and chips is a dream!)
  4. Uncharted 3 out today! The first two are amazing games. That said, I'm probably going to wait 'til Father Christmas delivers it. (Along with Arkham City)
  5. Yeah, gonna watch it tonight. Will report back no doubt
  6. Just bought a film I've been wanting to watch for a while, based on reviews by my mates. The Abyss Hope its good! Can anyone confirm or deny?
  7. Thats the best bit of the film. The glass shatters into literally 3 pieces. I heard they are making a Piranha 2, where they infiltrate a theme park! Basically another Jaws 3 then!
  8. Whizzed through Piranha yesterday (stopping at various points ) and have to say it looked so shockingly bad it may be worth a full watch through. If you de-tach your brain, I'm sure you can enjoy the ride.
  9. Agreed, went once it was lovely. But it never seems open when I go past!
  10. It looked as though Rochina would get 20 minutes or so against Birmingham, but as he was doing his warm up Junior had to come off injured. Similarly Nelsen's injury also used up a potential substitute place. I would expect him to be on the bench again, but come one in the second half provided the situation and injuries permit.
  11. Watched 'The French Connection' last night It felt very dated by modern standards, quite a difficult watch, the sound and picture quality seemed poor and there were long periods of silence, I think a good soundtrack would have helped the story along. Glad I've seen it, but not in a hurry to watch it again.
  12. Yeah decent first film from Zowie Bowie! His new film is out soon, looks pretty good.
  13. Hoping to get my hands on either Seven Samurai or The Magnificent Seven. I know they are practically the same movie, but they're always high up on film lists. I'm sure plenty of people on here have seen one or both, which is better? Which should I get?
  14. My fleeting interest in Super League is down to bobsterbrfc! Therefore I too am a Wolves fan.
  15. Its an idea for a thread that I don't think has ever been done. If it has, apologies, but I couldn't find it! If not then I'll begin with my top 5, for starters I have only been going to the Rovers regularly since 1993, when I was 6! I did go to the playoff final in 92, but can't remember the game. Top 5 5th - Rovers 3-1 Liverpool, Premier League 2011, maybe because it is fresh in the memory but what a fantastic performance. Freed from the long ball shackles, three magnificent goals put us 3-0 up against Liverpool, who in all honesty weren't in it. Then typically for Rovers they were hanging on towards the end, but great to beat Liverpool and a former manager. 4th - Rovers 3-2 Liverpool, Premier League 1994, another great game against Liverpool, in front of what was then (maybe still is) a record crowd at Ewood since the redevelopments (30,263). A see-saw game, Super Atko and Sutton had given Rovers a 2-1 lead, which was cancelled out by a magnificent John Barnes over head kick make it two each before Chris Sutton slid the ball under David James to steal the points for Rovers. 3rd - Rovers 7-2 Sheff Wednesday, Premier League 1997, Nine goals and a sending off, not bad entertainment, still during the summer holidays so it was a balmy evening at Ewood, and on Sky! Rovers were out of the traps in no time, Kevin Gallacher scored a brace inside 7 minutes to put Rovers 2 up, Benito Carbone made it 2-1, but a Graham Hyde own goal made it 3-1 almost immediately afterwards. Sutton and Wilcox made it 5-1 at half time, more was to come after the break though, including the goal of the game from Carbone! A wonder strike from 35 yards to make it 5-2, Bohinen, on as a sub, made it 6-2 moments later, before Carbone was then sent off for a second booking, Filan broke his arm in a collison, and was replaced by Flowers and the action finally ceased when Sutton added his 2nd and Rovers' 7th. I remember Stuart Ripley starting that season on fire and had a couple of near misses in the game as well. Unfortunately Rippers got injured playing for England and never really got his place back in the team after that! 2nd - Rovers 5-0 Burnley, First Division (now Championship) 2001, what more can I say but to beat your rivals is great, to batter them at home was fantastic, brilliant performance, brilliant goals and a scorcher of a day! Shorty's run down the wing, Jansen's double and Hignett's pile driver to make it 5! Also, the team were full of confidence and on the brink of promotion. It was also my sisters 16th birthday so we had a great barbeque afterwards, a great day. 1st - Rovers 4-3 Manchester United, Premier League 2005, the game had everything, a Bentley hat-trick, including a terrific third, just a day after signing for the club on a full time basis! Rio having an absolute shocker, Sav wound him up big time, Rovers coasting then United threw Ruud van Nistelrooy on and all over a sudden we were hanging on! A penalty, missed chances, great saves and ultimately a first league double over United for 50 years. An absolute cracking game, will live long in the memory. For me it was everything that being a Rover is about, upsetting the big boys, and ultimately leaving you happy and proud to be a Roverite, but bloody hell they put you through it!
  16. Went to Moka in Preston for a quick bite before heading out for New Year. Was great as usual. Good food, and great price! I think I had a portion of Teriyaki Chicken, Salmon, Noodles and two bottles of beer for about £15!! Moka
  17. Anyone bought Fable III or AC Brotherhood? Would like both off Father Christmas, was wondering what they played like.
  18. Watched Book of Eli last night with Denzel and Gary Oldman, not a bad film actually, certainly something different. With a few twists along the way.
  19. Haha I watched Independence Day in America all those years ago, and at the end of the film the audience clapped and started shouting U-S-A! U-S-A! it was hilarious. Saying that, I do love the film!
  20. Saw Back to the Future at the cinema last night. I'm probably being massively biased because its my favourite film, but I loved it! I would certainly recommend anyone who loves the film or hasn't seen it to go watch it at the cinemas. One thing I did notice was that the atmosphere in the cinema was great, because everybody knew what was coming and knows the characters, there was laughing and cheering throughout! Great stuff. Also for someone who has watched the film hundreds of times, I still noticed some new things, as the quality of the digital/blu ray is excellent. Its on limited release so make sure you go see it! "Are you telling me that you built a time machine?............OUT OF A DeLOREAN?!!!!"
  21. I'm on a similar quest Glenn One of the best films I've watched recently is 12 Angry Men. Got A fistful of Dollars and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly lined up on Sky+ Interesting list, of course no list is perfect, but this is one of the better ones. Empire Top 500 Talking of favourites, Nice to see my favourite film of all time makes number 23! I feel vindicated! And great news for fellow fans Back to the Future - back in cinemas!!
  22. Watched The Demolition Man last night for the first time, great film! Really good action and comedy. Also Sandra Bullock is just unbelievably hot in the movie. Its doing the rounds on Sky at the moment, if you see it, its worth a Sky+
  23. Anyone seen The Expendables? Heard its a shocker!
  24. Thanks for posting this. Had the videos when I was a kid, and always watched them in the Summer holidays, so much so that I wore the 92/93 and 93/94 videos out. Obviously a lot of the grounds have changed, but two things that did make me chuckle. No coloured boots and corner flags on the halfway line!! Where did they go?
