  1. Don’t think that’s the same as now. Venkys, Waggott, Pasha have rarely backed anyone, whereas Williams gave the managers every penny he could.
  2. How many did Mark Hughes play for us? 50.
  3. He has a short memory then, his comments slagging off the club (quite rightly, mind) were only 2 years ago.
  4. Our wider fanbase barely raised a whisper when we sold an England-quality teenager, they won’t care about Eustace going. I’d hope the Trust would be all over the manager leaving like a rash.
  5. I do agree, and have stated similar in the past, particularly when I was on the board. HOWEVER. I would also caveat that being on that board means you absolutely MUST be prepared to take criticism from those giving you their money.
  6. I’ve met the people who run the site voluntarily at the odd match, and I can honestly say they are an absolute bunch of bastards, quite frankly. (I’m joking, obviously. They’re brilliant and capable of utter wizardry imo).
  7. I’d be trying Ohashi up front (when fit) with Dennis and Kargbo either side running oppo defences ragged before bringing Gueye on after HT to allow him his full energy instead of seeing him stutter after 70mins or so.
  8. This window is reliant on Kargbo and Dennis people Lacey and mobile enough to take advantage of balls from Cantwell or knock-downs from Gueye AND start putting them away. It’s doable, but I fear 6 lost points in January (compared to my expectations) due to the lateness of these deals and an injury pile-up might just see us miss out. It’s now up to Eustace to drive us up. When the engine room has Travis and Tronstad in it, we look as fighting fit as any side in the division.
  9. As far as ‘tallest dwarf’ or ‘best of a sewer’ signings go, I think Rhodes could actually be useful in a team also containing pace down at least one wing, the industry of Gueye and Ohashi, and an engine of Travis and Tronstad. If he can put the ball in the net from 6 yards a few times… My God, what have Venkys done to my expectations?
  10. ‘We tried but they’re too expensive’ doesn’t wash when we’ve had £40m in the last 18months.
  11. We’ve already signed the winner of best hairdo, Sanderson
  12. Reminds me of the time someone told me Elliott Bennett was the first ever Rovers player to have four pairs of letters in their name…
  13. I always say, we bought our way into the competition, but we still had to go and win it. Hell if Utd had pulled their finger out on the final day we’d have finished second.
  14. The final Tuesday of last January’s window, Wharton was absolutely staying put, refusing to leave. By Wednesday he had a Palace shirt on, by Friday JDT had been banned from talking to the press and by the following Monday he’d gone. I struggle to expect anything now even when the club tells me. They’ve entered Steve Kean territory where I’d check the label in my keks if he told me my name was Mike E.
  15. Can you recall in as best detail as you can? I may find it cathartic…
  16. Engagement from WATR is far below what it was from RT.
  17. I don’t completely disagree but BTA did score a game-changing goal.
  18. I’m not. Two headers stoped out of nowhere, and one goal-line clearance. Other shots too if he weren’t so weak at it.
  19. It genuinely was. 3 genuine worldie saves stopped him having a hat trick.
  20. We need Venkys rooting out in favour of owners with ambition. It’s genuinely that simple. Somehow Venkys contrive to stumble on gold time after time, but flush it down the pan.
  21. Gueye winning POTM shows he’s officially the tallest dwarf in football.
  22. They’re dropping like flies atmo. Gutted for Gueye tonight, he’s been let down by his teammates.
