  1. Absolutely. One of the best creative minds in wrestling, I’d say up there with Heyman and Foley’s league. Just wish we knew where he was taking it next. His journeys were always better than their destinations.
  2. My favourite was the ’gunshot’ moment as Roman Reigns speared someone on a Raw. It was a simple and subtle gesture but it just looked so fucking cool. This is one that has really upset me, up there with Eddie, Benoit, and Brodie for how gutting it is as a fan.
  3. I understood entirely (although I appreciate the well considered reply). I was just making a geography joke…
  4. I… I didn’t think I’d have to explain it. It was the simplest, most inoffensive joke I could think of and you managed to be a curmudgeon even about that.
  5. It didn’t take hours, it took about two minutes, unless you’re an incompetent user of a smartphone I’m not comparing ‘women’s and men’s football’, I’m comparing two goalkeepers and speaking as a goalkeeper (and I won’t lie, it’s also a bit because I found it amusing that their name are anagrams). You have the confidence to describe it as a routine save despite (according to you) barely watching the game, and in the meantime seeing Pears’ positioning AND failing to to attempt to save for the second goal as acceptable. That shows you know nothing about goalkeeping. That Earps save is not ‘routine’, it is definitively superb. She has stretched to tip the ball around the post, having been unsighted by three of her own defenders blocking her view of the initial shot. Far from comparing the two, I believe they are entirely different. Pears’ goalkeeping was substandard, and Earps delivered the kind of saves we came to expect from Friedel. The reason for my comparison is purely because you implied an expectation of far higher standards of a woman’s goalkeeping than you do of a man’s goalkeeping, and I believe it is one of three things: 1. Trolling because it was me mentioning Earps. 2. A blind spot when it comes to mediocrity at Rovers. 3. Sexism. If Pears had pulled off that Earps save and Earps had positioned like that, you would STILL (albeit correctly) praise Pears and criticise Earps. That is my problem.
  6. I don’t understand how the same poster believes Pears’ positioning is acceptable: But this save from Earps was a ‘routine save’: What nonsense.
  7. Well won from Spain in the end. Earps the only reason we had a chance. Absolute hero.
  8. You’re just trolling at this point in your desperation to defend Pears. Pity.
  9. It shows his positioning perfectly well, and anyone who wants to watch the goal again can do. There’s no excuse for him to be stood there at that moment. Contrast with Mary Earps who has just now pulled off a save that Buffon would be proud of.
  10. No, I’m a keeper every weekend and that is inexcusable. From his original position he should have either attacked the ball himself (brave, bordering on stupid), or positioned himself centrally. He did nothing and froze for a single second, and ended up about 2 yards left of where he should be.
  11. Was just about to say this, she has that bit of power and skill we’re missing atmo. We’ve been playing nervous all game, and Spain have used it to their advantage to pull us from pillar to post. Need someone who can settle our nerves, get their foot on the ball and take advantage of any runs Hemp and Russo can make. Otherwise we’re relying on set pieces and there aren’t many options n the women’s game.
  12. Plus they’re motivated as much by payback for their QF knockout last year by us. Really trying to draw us out of position (and doing it well).
  13. Keira Walsh (now Barcelona), Georgia Stanway (now Bayern Munich), Ella Toone (now Man Utd).
  14. Three ‘made at’ Rovers in the starting line-up! Make history ladies! Come on England!
  15. His ‘high bar’ is only to be better than Pears. As a capped Swede, I think he’ll manage.
  16. I had a few Hull fans remarking to me after the game that they thought it was wonderful that we still honoured him in such a way. Not all fans display the nasty jealousy that the big clubs do.
  17. I do feel he should have done better positionally for their winner. Doesn’t mean he’d have saved it, but would’ve given their player more to think about and MIGHT have saved or made him miss the target.
  18. Gutted. Football is a fucking cruel game. When they went 2-1 up, we should’ve been 3-1 up.
  19. A lot of fans around me saying we don’t miss Pickering. I disagree, we replaced him with Brittain. It’s Dolan we don’t miss (aside from having the extra body on the pitch). Think Gally or Ennis need to come on for more presence up top, Leonard’s only made a couple of good runs imo.
  20. We gave up after S2. Not because it’s bad (it’s very good), but felt really OTT American after a while. In that kind of way where it explains EVERYTHING, instead of trusting the intelligence of those watching.
