  1. This weeks stooge is Tommy Spurr. He thinks we deserve to be in the top 6 already. The, hopefully temporarily, deluded Spurr says “We’re all behind him and we’re all buying into what him and his staff are trying to do'' - why is it we are never actually told what it is that they are trying to do. That broad statement does my feckin head in. http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/rovers/news/13635821.Tommy_Spurr__Players_are_right_behind_Blackburn_Rovers_boss_Gary__Bowyer/?ref=mac I assume Myers writes the scripts for the players and that's why he's too busy fire fighting to communicate outside of Ewood
  2. If Bowyer remains in charge and looking at the upcoming fixtures we could well be as good as relegated by the end of October. I mean so far cut adrift to make an incoming managers job nigh impossible. Sack Bowyer now to give an experienced manager some chance to mould a proper team out of the dross that Bowyer has put together. Any manager who clearly views Lowe as the key lynch-pin is his team is at best deluded. We are going down under Bowyer but the problem as always is that those cu*** in Pune do not give a flying ****
  3. I know it's wrong and unsporting but I do hope the rain stays until Monday evening.
  4. If the weather holds we will do well to stay in the game until lunch on Sunday. Ali still to bat so that will be worth watching but he's in a no win situation. Watched a lot of todays play. Quite good show by Cook.
  5. Ali should bat ahead of 3 of them. If we go for specialist spinners on tour it's Ali at risk of losing out of playing. I believe that Ali should be a batman first. Lyth has one more innings to save his England career, at least for the short term. As far as the 5th Test is concerned if we survive today pray for early rain tomorrow. All imo Imo
  6. I can't help it and I find Bowyer's speech pattern irritating to the extreme because aswell as the monotone etc etc etc I also do not think that he actually believes a word he's saying.
  7. jim mk2 called called Root a Someone else called Root a net bowler not me. I was explaining why Root was the other spin bowler with Ali. I totally agree with focusing on beating the Aussies in the 5th Test so would go unchanged apart from Andersen for Wood if Jimmy is fully fit. Lyth is struggling but I think with stay at 2 for now. Anything else can wait for the Tests v Pakistan. IMO
  8. Yes indeed - so who is the other spin bowler that OOJW is on about? Root has had a bowl this Test season and taken wickets. Also Ali is a batmen who can bowl a bit. We haven't played a specialist spinner yet.
  9. Very true and he's not the only one and it's not specific to English batsmen. The main reason why it's becoming difficult to visualise Test matches lasting a full five days or indeed ending in many draws. I appreciate that's the same thing really. The influence of ODI and even more so T20 on the modern day batsman's approach.
  10. KP came back, played County criket, scored loads, then told by Strauss he had no future with England but offered some non-job type position - unsuprisingly KP went. He remains the best cricketer currently available to play for England - but does not wear the correct tie. England should be wary of the Aussies in the 5th and ODIs. A lot of hurt pride there - let's be honest the Aussies lost the 3rd and 4th Tests as much as we won them and thrashed us in the 2nd. Has anyone ever seen Clarke or Warner so inept and Smith forgetting how to do the basics. Will there ever again be a draw over a 5 day Test?
  11. Probably have done the Aussies in less than 2 days with KP Sadly Lyth has looked out of his depth in most of the Test innings he's played but with the current squad system he'll get another chance in the 5th Test. Thank God we have Root.
  12. The Ashes are won but expect an Aussie backlash in the 5th. In the longer term Root cannot be expected to always save the day after at least one of our openers fail. Lyth, Bell, Stkes and Buttler all failed with the bat in this game and take away Roots score and anything could have happened.
  13. Well done England and the Aussies were also well done.
  14. Ashes Meltdown: How the Aussie Media reacted: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=11493352 A Kiwi newspaper giving the links to Aussie media reports - beautiful.
  15. Yes Bairstow has had a bit of luck today. Not sure about his stance and his change to holding his bat high on the bowlers run up, but working so far. England were the highest scorers in the Australian 1st Innings with 14 Extras, second highest was Johnson with 13. Only 3 Australian batsmen scored more runs than Broad got in wickets.
  16. Brilliant! I'm just glad I got to see today's cricket on the TV (via internet) here. Root and Bairstow playing well.
  17. Surely that was missing Bell's leg stump, is Hawkeye infallible?
  18. 60 all out ties at 7th position in the lowest score Test history of the Aussies. Apart from v South Africa in 2011 all the low scores were v England and years ago.
  19. Aussies 15 for 4 surreal and all caught at slips/wicket. Good toss to win even though Cook did say it didn't matter.
  20. Cook looks an inspiring figure sulking on the balcony.
