  1. I'd be surprised if the Darwen coaches were setting off that late. They left at 11.30 to go to Oldham !
  2. I'm in the Czech Republic at the moment and even the main game wasn't playing. I spent about 30 minutes messing around before giving up on it. SkyGo works fine but the app doesn't seem to work over here for Championship games. Similarly, if I try and view the highlights of any previous Championship games it says not allowed in this location. Other vids such as post match interviews work though.
  3. I couldnt get the Skysports App to stream the game either. I ended up eventually on some stream of Ill-repute.
  4. There's a still on twitter I saw on Saturday night where you can see the wall is too far to their left. It's from right behind the ball and you can just see the outside of the post which should surely be blocked.. Hourihane hit the free kick so well that had we had an extra man on the end, it would have still gone around the wall and in, but had the wall been different it might have changed his mind or execution on what he was going to do. Whether the wall is Raya's fault, or he was ignored, we will never know. I notice that Mowbray blamed the wall a she well in his post match interviews. Anyway that's off topic. Nyambe was excellent again last night.
  5. Only saw the second half and it's amazing how not witnessing the first half changes your opinion. In isolation, the second half was pretty even with both teams having half chances and Rovers coming into it thenlonger it went on. The commitment and effort was outstanding and II thought all the back line looked good, it was the inability of the midfield to hold and keep possession which bothered me. Also, apart from one Smallwood delivery from the right, set pieces were pretty terribly taken. Just on the 2nd half it was a deserved point. However from commentary, comments and stats it looks like I missed such an atrocious first half performance that it slants the view of the whole 90 minutes for those who saw it.
  6. I know SkyGo now works when you are in the EU. Time to find out if the skysports app will work as well !
  7. Well 10 other players turned up week in, week out and the fans decided that's Williams was the best player over the full season. I'd be pretty proud of that if I was him.
  8. He's worth about £900 million but how much of that is available to spend is anyone's guess. I spoke to him a few times about 16 years ago, both professionally and socially. Lots of talk about horses but I don't remember him ever mentioning football once. Most owners in the Champnship seem to have to be prepared to fund a small debt in the hope of getting lucky one season and the riches that come with it. The excessive parachute payments mean the relegated sides have a huge advantage but if it doesn't come off straight away it can also be a bit of a noose once they wear off.
  9. Probably not, and that's a big problem with this league. If Hemmings has put in £73million, and is still funding it at £6million every year, what are the fans expecting him to do?
  10. Did Derek Williams not make more than half of his appearances so far for Rovers in the Championship, the same year he won the player of the season award? ,
  11. Off topic point scoring again.
  12. Are they currently being run at a profit, or are they running at a loss and the fans are expecting the owner to throw more money at it?
  13. To be fair that allowed us to push the wingback further forward which instantly led to a period of pressure which we scored from. I think that was a shrewd tactical switch rather than just getting Williams's on the pitch.
  14. Bell looks a threat going forward but, when playing 4 at the back, the first job is to defend. I just think Williams is a better defender generally and offers us a bit more in the air which we need due to our centre back pairing. However it's a fairly even call. I don't sigh with despair when I see Bell's name on the team sheet.
  15. In my humble opinion Brereton hardly put a foot right and had no impact whatsoever. The tactical switch may have given us some impetus but Palmer or Rothwell would have carried more threat. Hopefully he'll get a proper chance to show what he can do up front soon.
  16. Having given them a bit of stick after Bristol City, I thought Mulgrew and Lenihan were both excellent yesterday. Also I thought Nyambe was very good. I'm in the minority but I'd still prefer Williams over Bell. Smallwood and Evans both held their own in the middle and Dack just gives us that threat that we lack without him. Even when things weren't coming off, you could see Villa were concerned about him. Armstrong was disappointing. You do look at the situations he finds himself in out wide and think "if only that was Chapman". Brereton looked poor but I'm presuming he's never been a winger. It will be frustrating if he keeps coming on wide just to give him a game. The position of the wall was wrong but that's been covered. Despite the timing of the equaliser, it was one of the most enjoyable games I've witnessed at Ewood for a while.
  17. Bolton could be hours away from administration. https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/16833145.bolton-wanderers-could-be-in-administration-within-hours/
  18. You think that for the middle and end of last season he looked "rotten?". Give over. He looked average and wasn't as good as he initially seemed. He's also probably not up to this level. But he did a solid job at league one level last year. "Rotten" is way OTT.
  19. I have no way of proving this, but Mowbray has to do something to make Dack realise the seriousness of the situation he is in, and the potential repercussions on his career. He was rumoured to being close to fitness as long ago as the Reading game yet hasn't made the bench. I suspect he's been left out over the last two games whilst this hearing was done and dusted. Even with what's happened at the magistrates though, I agree with you that the picture still isn't worth getting bothered about.
  20. Agree with most of that, and Raya is certainly a step up on Steele. However we spent around £10million in this window, brought in a decent number of new playersand yet didn't bring in one central defender - despite Bauer seemingly being one of our first targets. We still have two centre halves who got caught out aerially several times last year and could really be show up in their weakness in that area this season My post was in response to Mick saying that "once TM has integrated the new players it could be a complete change from what we have seen so far". In midfield and attack we have many options and, like last season, it may take a couple of months to blend. However defensively I don't see how that can be the case. I think we know what we have.
  21. I think defensively we are what we are - practically the same defence that got relegated 2 years ago.
  22. I'm not sure that's true. We got battered for the first 10 minutes and could have been two down. After that we won the ball back and created good situations but so did they. We missed the better chances but to say we were comfortably the better side ignores how they started. What didnt help us was falling behind fairly early in the second half. It allowed Bristol City to sit back a bit more so we had less space to pinch the ball and run into. We pushed up more to try and impose ourselves and they kept hitting us on the break.
  23. You may change your mind when you see the replay. Palmers chance was an open goal sitter. Other than that, I thought he did ok. Armstrong either stumbled or was clipped for hIs first chance. The second incident you mention was very poor. There were a few similar incidents to that once we'd gone 3 down, where players chose personal glory over playing someone else in.
  24. The only reason I'd prefer Williams is because he's better in the air, even though he's probably smaller than Bell. There's not much in it though tbh.
  25. If we haven't bought him because of potential, why the hell have we bought him? It's not his goal scoring record is it? Thats what worried me at the time. It's a lot of money for someone so very unproven.
