v Birmingham FA Cup 4th Round replay - 31/1/23

Yeah he somehow officially has managed to claim the Lenihan own goal at Boro. -
According to Fabrizio Romano (who I’d never heard of till yesterday when several posters used him as a source for the Diaz deal being done and saying he is rarely wrong), several Championship clubs are in for Ugbo. So the club could be underplaying it.

Wrexham deservedly in front against Sheff United. You can see why they are top of the National League.

What a prick. If, as he says, he had 100’s of racist tweets and messages from Rovers fans I guarantee he would be sharing them.

And whilst we are all pissed off and complaining, exactly the above happened. JW upper extremely busy with seats taken all the way to the back. Far bigger proportion of parents with kids than normal. As predicted, one of the bars closed. I went down at 3.37 and got served just after the half time whistle went. Already no pies or hot dogs by that point. Queue was about 50% bigger after I got served than when I joined. As I was going back up as the second half kicked off the queues were still about 10 deep. I’m sure the day trippers on cheap tickets loved that experience. -

I think the insinuation is also more why Venkys aren't accepted. He's a proper shit stirrer. -

My Prediction. We will close the Riverside and, because it’s £10 anywhere, end up with more people than normal going in the JW upper. However only 2 of the bar/food outlets will be open because they ‘aren’t expecting a huge crowd.’ -
OK. Just to clarify:- Huddersfield reject - good Reading reject - bad Joao's goal scoring rate for Reading blows Sam Gallagher's out of the water. I know who I would rather have up front.

Gillingham's Bradley Dack named League One Player of the Year. He wouldn't have taken much finding to be fair.
-
Aye

Blackburn End is about a third full, JW not much better. There will be a late surge like against Forest, but unless the M6 is shut there certainly won’t be ‘delayed kick off and chaos’.
-
I think its strange because it doesn't fit into the mantra of "the project", especially considering we have openly talked about doing deals similar to Hedges (players coming our of contact). Over on DATM they are talking about him costing £5mill+
-
True. Sam had him lined up to come across to Blackburn and the ash cloud stopped it. That’s confirmed by that interview. The only reason I posted it was to show that for someone to say that he did an interview where he said there was zero chance of him coming to rovers is complete bollocks.

In the unlikely event we sell out the away end due to this before it goes on open sale, then it’s not right. Otherwise, at least they are trying to increase growth in the fan base of the club, which is what we have all been asking them to do. It just seem Yasir has far more drive and initiative to achieve his targets than some of the others members of Rovers hierarchy have in achieving theirs. -
He scored one of the iconic goals from my youth against Newcastle, but I think his career before and after Rovers shows he wasn’t good enough for where we were quickly heading.
-
But there isn’t one where he says there was zero chance he would have come to Blackburn?

Recalling his talks with Blackburn, Lewandowski revealed: “I had the opportunity to join Blackburn. “But I wanted to see how Blackburn looked, the training ground, the place I met with Sam Allardyce. “It was in Poland after a game. I thought he was a good guy, a very good coach. “He was prepared to take a young player who was something new and might be something special. “He wanted to come to Poland to see me. That was nice.” Lewandowski continued: “There were a lot of offers to think about when I was leaving Poznan. I wanted to know if I went there, ‘What would I get? What would I learn?’ “I think it would have been fine if I had gone to Blackburn, but I would have liked to go and see the training centre, the stadium. I couldn’t go because of the cloud. It was the volcano. The volcano with the ash cloud. It was one week and nobody could fly in Europe. The flight was booked, but we couldn’t leave. It changed my life. If I had gone to Blackburn maybe I would have stayed there.” “It was one week and nobody could fly in Europe. The flight was booked, but we couldn’t leave. It changed my life. If I had gone to Blackburn maybe I would have stayed there.”

I simply can't imagine a situation where Rovers would put free coaches to an away game on for us.
-
Agree. I'd also rather we tried to keep Season Ticket prices lower by attracting more fans and not just screwing the existing fanbase. But here we are. If we are squeezing the fan base financially and justifying it by 'budgets and targets', then there is no justification for resting players for Saturday if it jeopardises our chances of progression.
-
If we get a bum tie we will just have to settle for the £120k prize money for reaching the 5th round plus whatever gate receipts we get. Either money is a big issue with us trying to be competitive, or it isn’t. If we have a decent chance of a windfall, be it £1mill, £500k or even 300k, then we should be aiming to ensure we give ourselves the best chance of getting that cash.
-
The carrot waiting in the next round may well be a Spurs, Man Utd or Arsenal away which would reap over £1million in revenue for Rovers. That’s the equivalent to our 8000 season ticket holders paying an extra £125 for their ticket. As we’ve no money, we’re hampered by FFP, promotion this season wasn’t the aim and we always try and squeeze all we can from our remaining loyal fan base , why would you not put your best team out to try and scoop £1,000,000 we currently don’t have. Or would we rather blood some youngsters for a project 2 years down the line and instead fleece that money from the diehards? A weakened side would make no sense to me.

I really hope they get Rooney

Waggot is targeted to bring in X amount as a commercial value. He achieves X by increasing pricing to his existing customer base rather than trying to grow his customer base by making the experience more affordable and attractive. Most of J*B’s points are things he could do that could increase revenue, rather than fleece the loyal fan base. It’s a lazy, short term way of hitting his target. At some point we will have a bad season and the £500 price will just lead to a significant downturn in season ticket holders and revenue. There’s no long term plan here. No “what about in 3 years time, or 5 years time”. It’s all knee-jerk to hit targets today. I reckon if SW believed he was here for the next 5 years he might take a different approach. However if he hits target each year and then walks away with his corporate reputation intact, it will be the next stooge who has the serious problem. It’s just not in the interests of BRFC. Of course, Venkys ultimately are to blame for having no interest and not seeing any of the above.

Blackpool away? To be fair he was about as useful as Gallagher yesterday. Both are generally shite. It makes no difference to me where they have come from before they find their way to our starting xi, whether it’s a big money signing or academy. Brereton was also Shute but has far more credit in the bank than those 2. Admittedly, Gally has been banking here much longer than Jack. -
When we were 2-0 down with 20 minutes left at Luton, or 1-0 down with half an hour left at Wigan, I’m fairly sure he was fit enough to do what JDT should have wanted him to do - salvage something from the game. But JDT chose to either not put him on (Luton) or give him 7 minutes (Wigan). I suspect because he’d rather the subs used (Hirst, Buckley or Wharton) did something instead, because that would be beneficial to ‘the project’. Their stubbornness cost us with Dack early season.
