He scored one of the iconic goals from my youth against Newcastle, but I think his career before and after Rovers shows he wasn’t good enough for where we were quickly heading.
-
But there isn’t one where he says there was zero chance he would have come to Blackburn?
-
Recalling his talks with Blackburn, Lewandowski revealed: “I had the opportunity to join Blackburn. “But I wanted to see how Blackburn looked, the training ground, the place I met with Sam Allardyce. “It was in Poland after a game. I thought he was a good guy, a very good coach. “He was prepared to take a young player who was something new and might be something special. “He wanted to come to Poland to see me. That was nice.” Lewandowski continued: “There were a lot of offers to think about when I was leaving Poznan. I wanted to know if I went there, ‘What would I get? What would I learn?’ “I think it would have been fine if I had gone to Blackburn, but I would have liked to go and see the training centre, the stadium. I couldn’t go because of the cloud. It was the volcano. The volcano with the ash cloud. It was one week and nobody could fly in Europe. The flight was booked, but we couldn’t leave. It changed my life. If I had gone to Blackburn maybe I would have stayed there.” “It was one week and nobody could fly in Europe. The flight was booked, but we couldn’t leave. It changed my life. If I had gone to Blackburn maybe I would have stayed there.”

I simply can't imagine a situation where Rovers would put free coaches to an away game on for us.
-
Agree. I'd also rather we tried to keep Season Ticket prices lower by attracting more fans and not just screwing the existing fanbase. But here we are. If we are squeezing the fan base financially and justifying it by 'budgets and targets', then there is no justification for resting players for Saturday if it jeopardises our chances of progression.
-
If we get a bum tie we will just have to settle for the £120k prize money for reaching the 5th round plus whatever gate receipts we get. Either money is a big issue with us trying to be competitive, or it isn’t. If we have a decent chance of a windfall, be it £1mill, £500k or even 300k, then we should be aiming to ensure we give ourselves the best chance of getting that cash.
-
The carrot waiting in the next round may well be a Spurs, Man Utd or Arsenal away which would reap over £1million in revenue for Rovers. That’s the equivalent to our 8000 season ticket holders paying an extra £125 for their ticket. As we’ve no money, we’re hampered by FFP, promotion this season wasn’t the aim and we always try and squeeze all we can from our remaining loyal fan base , why would you not put your best team out to try and scoop £1,000,000 we currently don’t have. Or would we rather blood some youngsters for a project 2 years down the line and instead fleece that money from the diehards? A weakened side would make no sense to me.

I really hope they get Rooney

Waggot is targeted to bring in X amount as a commercial value. He achieves X by increasing pricing to his existing customer base rather than trying to grow his customer base by making the experience more affordable and attractive. Most of J*B’s points are things he could do that could increase revenue, rather than fleece the loyal fan base. It’s a lazy, short term way of hitting his target. At some point we will have a bad season and the £500 price will just lead to a significant downturn in season ticket holders and revenue. There’s no long term plan here. No “what about in 3 years time, or 5 years time”. It’s all knee-jerk to hit targets today. I reckon if SW believed he was here for the next 5 years he might take a different approach. However if he hits target each year and then walks away with his corporate reputation intact, it will be the next stooge who has the serious problem. It’s just not in the interests of BRFC. Of course, Venkys ultimately are to blame for having no interest and not seeing any of the above.

Blackpool away? To be fair he was about as useful as Gallagher yesterday. Both are generally shite. It makes no difference to me where they have come from before they find their way to our starting xi, whether it’s a big money signing or academy. Brereton was also Shute but has far more credit in the bank than those 2. Admittedly, Gally has been banking here much longer than Jack. -
When we were 2-0 down with 20 minutes left at Luton, or 1-0 down with half an hour left at Wigan, I’m fairly sure he was fit enough to do what JDT should have wanted him to do - salvage something from the game. But JDT chose to either not put him on (Luton) or give him 7 minutes (Wigan). I suspect because he’d rather the subs used (Hirst, Buckley or Wharton) did something instead, because that would be beneficial to ‘the project’. Their stubbornness cost us with Dack early season.
-
And expect fans to pay £430+ to fund this write off. Didn’t tell us that in July did they. Also with all this talk of ‘the project’ recently, do we really think Dack wasn’t fit enough early season? Or more likely JDT and GB thought he was stopping ‘development’ of our own. Its only when it became so glaringly obvious to them he was still our best footballer did they then backtrack.

Joellington swinging an elbow and the pushing someone two handed in the chest is a yellow card, but gently bouncing the ball on someone’s head is violent conduct.

I was once in a pub one afternoon in Liverpool near the southern docks full of Everton fans. It was 10th September 2011 (it was a special occasion so I remember the date). They found out I was a rovers fan and all they could talk about was how unjust it was to be protesting so personally against Steve Kean when, after all, we were a lower league club who basically “don’t belong” in the Premier League and it’s not Keans fault it looks like we are going to naturally return to our level. And that wasn’t one or two, it was the whole lot of them. I hope they keep Fat Frank and go down the arrogant swines.

And yet the immensely irritating Wurzels commentating on Robins TV were adamant it wasn’t even a booking 🙄 -

Yep. So, so, so biased -
But we aren’t fishing in the “far better players with far better pedigree” pond. We now know how good bellamy was now. But when he came, his scoring rate was not brilliant at either Coventry or Newcastle, and his falling outs at Newcastle were high profile. I’d say his reputation as a very good premier league player started on an upwards curve at Ewood. Before that he was just decent with baggage. edit - not that I’m that fussed. But if he signs it’s one that could go either way to me.
-
Bingo. And as much as you think “let’s just arrange something without the footy” you never do it.
-
Bellamy and Elliot came with that ‘baggage’.

I'm too mature to use the 'don't look' emoji, implies the man who choses to be known as Sweaty Gussets 🙈🙈😄

He was shitness personified today, currently with a rating of 1.7 of the BRFCS player rating, but you keep polishing that turd Gav. In fact watch the full game on the official site when it’s available and tell me what minute he does anything other than the absolute basic. -

I agree, but a good manager gets the best out of what he has got. I feel JDT doesn’t as he insists that the squad he has must play a certain way to their detriment. The problem is bigger than JDT and GB. But we needed to get lucky with a manager who can get the most out of the academy and what he has by playing to their strengths. We currently are bending limited players to a style which doesn’t help them This is masked by our league position and our win record. But anyone watching the games knows full well that every game we lose we deserve to, but several of the wins have been games which could have gone either way. And now the tide is turning on results. -

Or JDT has realised he was wrong to not play him as he’s better than what he has. I suspect the truth is in the middle. -

Stop playing Gallagher out wide. Get a better striker than those two on loan. Stop passing around at the back for the sake of it. Get the team committed and matching the opposition for effort and controlled aggression in the middle of the park.
