  1. I think toilet is unfair But I do agree that his distribution was terrible. Hyam is head and shoulders above him Lenihan was a good player for us at a time when we needed him. I doubt he will ever get a promotion from this league though
  2. Love that he was unhappy about not being in the squad. It’s what we want to see The agent malarkey is a bit petulant though Is this confirmed or pub talk?
  3. Dom Hyam is better than van Hecke overall Hes definitely better than Lenihan, who was great for us but is not in the same class as Hyam Hes not as lightweight and can dig deeper. It’s no surprise we have looked better defensively this season But I would love to have van Hecke back don’t get me wrong
  4. Do Sky compensate the clubs for showing the matches on tele? We have had a lot of coverage lately which must be helping our bank balance
  5. It has been announced that Southgate is to stay on as England manager I’m happy with that. We move to Euro 24!
  6. Big win and some big performances Buckley is a good player. He needs to start more
  7. Sir Gary to discuss his future with the FA after Christmas I think there has been a real reconnection with England and the general public during his time in charge. He’s been a breath of fresh air after some dark days Personally I would be gutted to see him leave. In my opinion, in the big games, the only game he holds some level of blame is the Croatia semi. His first major tournament in charge. Against Italy and France we found ourselves unlucky, battling against seriously tough opposition. It could well be that the last two teams we have lost to in major tournaments went on to win it. However, if the FA is ambitious in their appointment then at least the legacy of Southgate is that he left England in a better place than when he took it on. By all accounts St George’s park and the camp atmosphere is far better and the players look forward to England duty. It wasn’t always this way and it isn’t always guaranteed to be like that The next appointment has to be right. This talk in the media of it being inconceivable to appoint a non English manager is ridiculous. Coaches like Tuchel and Pocchetino (examples that spring to mind) are respected by English fans. To the majority the nationality of the coach comes second to his ability to produce good performances, create a good atmosphere in the tournament camps and stay connected with the English crowds. Foreign managers can do that
  8. I think Macron have delivered some of the best quality shirts in a while to be honest Supply chain wise - when Aston Villa were using them they didn’t have this issue It could have easily been avoided. Purchase enough when you have the chance to and don’t leave it until you’ve physically ran out
  9. Yeah, I'd agree with this Rovers will get another chance to right the PNE wrong in this season We will have to wait 4 years for a chance of retribution I am still gutted with the result. I couldn't bring myself to watch the game last night. I won't watch the semi tonight either The only way I watch the final is if Morocco make it. Other than that I won't bother with the final either
  10. And everybody knew they were made to look good by South Korea This Croatia team have been fantastic for years now. They win big games
  11. Come onnnnnn Croatia!!!!!!!!!
  12. Jesus Back to work for me
  13. It's also what the majority are interested in Silas I bet if you watched Portugese or Brazilian or German TV you'd see regular interviews with their managers and focus around main international stars or their own teams Like it or not, the vast majority don't want to see in depth analysis of the Canadian left winger before he returns to second tier football somewhere
  14. Brazil being cancelled out by Croatia and sounding very leggy according to 5 live Nothing to fear there
  15. He's found himself all over the pitch, in particular against Iran where he was mopping up as much as he was setting attacks When you play the 4-3-3 we have been playing he's been the more attacking of Henderson / Rice but he's still been a central midfielder Foden always tends to play wide for City. Do we sit with a run of the mill #10 in this England team? In any case, there's no way you drop Bellingham in this tournament so far, certainly not for a player who seems more at home coming from the outside in, like Foden does week in week out for Man City See Bellingham's burst for Harry Kane's goal - made a tackle on the d of his own box, drove past a few players and passed it into an advanced Foden. Their games are different, and you don't drop Bellingham for Foden imo I don't think Foden would offer as much in Bellingham's role, certainly not in the defensive side of the game. You want Foden up the other end of the pitch ready to counter and attack. The two are different players
  16. I agree he is our best player on individual merit, but in place of Bellingham? Bellingham has been our stand out central midfielder, box to box, plays an entirely different role to Foden But putting that aside, Bellingham's been one of our best players at this tournament, so the idea of dropping him to squeeze Foden into a position he doesn't suit much seems an odd one This is a team game
  17. I actually think Sterling is one of the best players in this squad He may not be the best at club level, but for England his performances over the past 3 years have been sensational He works off Kane and is always in the right place at the right time - he may not start, but I think we will at least see him The only certainty for me is that Grealish or Maddison won't start; Grealish because Southgate sees him as a 'closer' and Maddison because he's not fit. I don't think anything else is off the table to be honest. I personally think he may go with Saka and Rashford
  18. You are fishing with this comment
  19. This is the next "battle" We all knew it would happen eventually. Whilst this lot are here this will keep appearing and reappearing You see, I wouldn't even be averse to the training ground being renovated or relocated, so long as I had trust in the people in charge to replace what we have with something better Everything, and I mean everything, tells us that what would come would be worse than what we have To date Venkys, and currently Waggot, have not improved on what we had pre-2011. That is quite a damning indictment considering we are now approaching 2023.
  20. Kane seems to play better with Sterling than he does Foden, but you'd rather Foden than Sterling. So it is a strange one If Southgate did start Sterling I wouldn't throw my toys out the pram. We will be countering a fair bit in this game, and his ability to make the back post tap in could be crucial But I suspect he won't, I do think we will see Rashford play for either Saka or Foden
  21. I don't care because of the totally wicked plastered on the front, which is a pain I would love to buy our third kit for 7 a side football. Does anyone know if I can get it without the sponsor? It's not so much the vaping as it is the words totally wicked and the red devil..........................................just gross. But I have to say - for a team like Rovers to be out of shirts is a joke. My little brother is a Villain unfortunately, and we had absolutely no issue getting him a shirt, scalf or whatever else. He doesn't mind Rovers and does wear his shirt but, guess what, I can't get him the new one this year
  22. I am glad too. His partnership with Kane is great for England
  23. I think France are there for the taking. This is a squad who made heavy work of Denmark, who were poor this tournament. The only team Denmark scored against was France. They then lost against Tunisia, who weren't the best either. Okay France rested a lot of their starting players but that to me shows the strength in depth does not exist. They ended the game with the heavies on the pitch and they couldn't break down a defiant Tunisian defence. I also think Poland were fortunate to have qualified out of that group. Against Argentina they were poor and by all accounts didn't get going vs France either. We become France's big test. I believe we have lost our last few meetings against the froggies, but won our last two World Cup head to heads. Outside of France's starting 11 there's not much going for it - Camavinga, Saliba and Thuram being the standouts. The rest you could give or take. They are certainly not the France of 2018. It's going to be an incredible game. It sounds cliche but the opening 20 is going to be huge. If we can get ourselves set and comfortable I think we'd have enough to see it over the line within the 90. In terms of 'game changers' I don't think France have any - they start him in Mbappe - and I think that's where we will win the game. It's the hope that kills you
