  1. It was a man’s game back then.
  2. Mecky for me, but the skipper was an immense player as well.
  3. I'm sure he could manage 10 minutes if we need a goal.
  4. I can see him being on the bench tonight
  5. Too many of those not with us any more 😞
  6. Come on Chaddy, you can do better than this. You might not be old enough to remember getting chased along Manchester Road in the 70s coming back from Burnden Park, but as a cricket fan you know only too well that LCCC headquarters is in Manchester. Or do your rules not apply to cricket? As an aside, as I posted elsewhere a while back, many Darreners get more worked up when we play Bolton than they do when we play the Dingles, as it is closer to us.
  7. RIP Gordon. He was still playing golf right up to more or less the end. Great manager and a lovely man. Reunited with Captain Fantastic Graham Hawkins 💙🤍
  8. Bolton, Preston, Blackpool, Dingles...all traditional Lancashire derbies. Obviously the game against Bonleh is THE derby for most Rovers fans but I honestly can't understand why you would think North End wasn't also a local derby match??
  9. I'm slightly late to the party with this one as it came out last year to rave reviews, but I'm really liking The Coral's album, Coral Island. Like Ogden's Nut Gone Flake by the sea (if you know, you know...)
  10. Bryan Ferry - These Foolish Things
  11. No, it should be Jacob Bright Mews. There was just no need for the apostrophe. Unless of course the mews in question do, in fact, belong to Jacob Bright 😉
  12. Pink Floyd - See Emily Play
  13. The Supremes - Forever Came Today
  14. To be fair he does offer more of a physical presence than the three dwarves that started up top. It’s all relative.
  15. Roxy Music - Street Life
  16. Warne was Accy but Border definitely played for East Lancs. My boss at the time at Blackburn Council (Ian Haworth) opened the bowling for East Lancs and had the wonderful claim to fame of getting Sir Viv out 3 times in one season. Twice for single figure scores but the third one he made about 175! I think 'Whispering Death' Michael Holding also played for Rishton a couple of years earlier. Legend has it they had to open the gates to accommodate his run-up! RIP Warnie
  17. Absolutely shocking news. And as someone who is still recovering from a second heart attack I know only too well that life is so tenuous. Enjoy it while you can lads and lassies. RIP Warney
  18. The Housemartins - There's Always Something There To Remind Me
  19. The World Column - So Is the Sun Shamelessly nicked er I mean sampled by Paul Weller for The Jam's Trans Global Express
  20. The Beatles - I Feel Fine
  21. Far be it from me to defend Waggott but this doesn't really make much sense to be honest. Why would Waggott not want promotion? I bet he stands to get a bonus just like the players if we were to pull it off.
  22. The Who - I Can See For Miles
  23. I'll pick it up from this one: New Order - Blue Monday
