  1. You should watch City of god, it's brilliant. How scenes repeat from different character's perspectives, the story is told and so on is so we'll put together.
  2. I could see Travis going to a Sheffield United, or a Brighton type of club. I wouldn't want it of course but we know it will happen.
  3. I think there is a wider issue that traditional fans are sick of. They're sick of the game turning into a Hollywood style set up where people idolise the player (or actor) above the team (or film). They are sick of such players being the gods of know nothings from India or Canada because they once saw a Real Madrid vs. Man City game. They're sick of Paul Pogba being an Instagram star as much as playing the game. They're sick of clubs like PSG, only formed in 1975 being supported by people from Huddersfield who have no idea the latter have ever won the league. They're sick of the money, the corrupt agents and all of that sort of thing. I find it difficult to care about the game beyond this club when it is so broken myself at times.
  4. Will all this mean Coventry City are promoted? About time the club had some good news. Now all they need to do is sort out a ground.
  5. I sort of see where you're coming from, as I am of the sort where someone can tell me they like ladyboys, want a sex change, are gay or whatever and I think that it's their business and if they're happy and comfortable then fine. It's the people who stomp around looking for offence and or on an endless quest for labels and more narrow definitions that ruin it for everyone.
  6. I think part of the problem comes from when Justin Fashanu was outed all those years ago. It was in the 80s when the gutter press were making lurid headlines about homosexuals being sexual deviants, giving AIDS to everyone in nightclub orgies. Justin was one of the first known gay players and he was seen in such a negative way, and probably went off the rails from all the accusations and pressure from the press and his odious family.
  7. Don't buy Pogba or Neymar then.
  8. Last one I really played was 2011. I dread to think how much detail and fiddly fannying about with tactics and talking to the press you have to do now. There's only so much tinkering I can be bothered with.
  9. Peter Bonneti, the former goal keeper is also dead.
  10. Anyone know at what point of the story this episode ends?
  11. They should probably sell the club, but they don't have the sense, and too much pride to do that (Obviously there will be no buyers right now given the economic slump). A fire sale to balance the books could happen regardless of the current situation. On the other hand, how many clubs will be in a position to buy, with little money coming in and even wealthy owners taking a hit?
  12. I'm a similar sort of person. I can't stand Lady Contrived.......sorry Lady Gaga, as everything was a marketing ploy to distract from the fact she blatantly ripped off Madonna and Cyndi Lauper. Beyonce is another one. She can sing, but a load of her songs are really over produced tripe. To get back onto TV, I don't generally watch dramas so all these shows pass me by and I don't care if I'm out the loop.
  13. Facebook rumours abound that there will be a 3rd series of Life on Mars. Not sure of the veracity of the rumours, or whether it is a good idea. I loved it, but the first series of Ashes to Ashes put me off that, though I hear it picks up in the 2nd and 3rd series.
  14. Fun fact (though that's a matter of opinion): I used to work with Andy McEvoy's nephew or cousin at DHL when I first moved to Coventry.
  15. Also owned by an American, German manager......and so on. As for Wolves, they're no heroes as they're run by one of those super agents on behalf of a Chinese billionaire.
  16. That last sentence is so true 47er. If promotion is not achieved this season, or next we'll be like Birmingham City, QPR, Cardiff. No realistic chance of advancement, producing the odd good player to be bought cheaply by teams on their way to be promoted or premier league teams taking a punt on a potential star. And I don't think Mowbray is good enough to get the club promoted.
  17. Today's game sounds like an example of why I don't think the play offs will happen this season (or probably next). We had the chance to get into the top 6, but played so badly, with unreliable players, we are now having to hope it was a one off but half expecting a bad run. Goodness knows whether we can keep the better players in our squad to try again next season but Mowbray's best would probably make us a team that can consistently finish 8th-12th. Which is fine if you're not bothered about promotion or keeping the likes of Dack, Travis and Lehinen here. To get back into the premier league and repair the damage caused by Venky's, Jerome Anderson and Steve Kean we would need more.
  18. We'll be just out of reach, like we have been the last few weeks.
  19. Coventry City now currently top. No idea which ground they'll be at next season.
  20. If there are Rovers Doc Martens, I'd be interested. Adidas trainers seem to be too narrow for me.
  21. Hopefully what sounds like a good performance will be the start of a good career at Rovers after so long looking pretty pants. Just don't put him on the wing Tony.
  22. They should have given me £1m to be on their books, he was that bad. Hughes and his successors did sign some plums.
  23. I agree, City fans have had enough crap to deal with over the last 10 to 15 years, and has really damaged the club's standing and the whole city. And if a stadium is not quite up to standard, a club should be given time to fix issues, as promotion is likely to mean more money. Money that can be spent on improvements. On a side note, what is the rule about 3G pitches? The Butt's Park Arena where Coventry Rugby play (as well as the Bears rugby league team and Coventry Utd) is a 3G artificial pitch.
  24. Very long story, but JHRover has done a pretty good summary. When the council and a something called the Alan Higgins Trust sold their 50% shares to Wasps they paid up front. SISU, Coventry City's owners, tried to put their bid in through some shell company or something that was in receivership, which sounds dodgy to me. There has been constant talk of buying Coventry Rugby's ground, or building a new stadium on the old Speedway track that is now derelict. The former is unlikely as the rugby ground has been built up by the club and the owner John Sharp is not going to make it a tennant for a quick buck, and the latter is a non starter as there has been a huge legal battle over who owns it and what it will be used for, for years. Hence why it is derelict and there is no speedway team any more.
