  1. So if that all goes ahead, Blackpool would be taken off Oyston's hands and then dismantled and shut down to recoup money. Is that basically the effect on the club?
  2. They must be doing worse than expected. I wonder if daddy chucked them a few quid and the phone number of a couple of clients to swing that deal.
  3. Let's all laugh at the Aussies!. Well done India, you deserve it for playing hard and not letting them off the hook when you have the edge. Hopefully when the cheats come back they'll be broken by their crocodile tears and lack of top level action.
  4. Anderson must have passed the fit and proper test even if he is like a Donald Trump type when it comes to paying what is due. I bet his takeover is our version of John Spano taking over the New York Islanders Ice hockey team.
  5. I would avoid Chapman. Legs like Brandy snaps, and he'll be as bad as Grella.
  6. When Ipswich go down, and Paul scuttles off, Paul will possibly go to India (where Phil Brown is now), Singapore/Brunei or if he is lucky Australia. Then he'll move back here to a league 1 club when everyone has forgotten how crap he has been since Norwich.
  7. Sounds like we should loan out Smallwood instead. I always like it when youth players come through, though I do expect him to be dropped for Smallwood when he's available again.
  8. What happened with Livermore from West Brom? I read on the BBC he got involved with Travis, but it didn't go into detail.
  9. My timing was a bit out but every year for the last 10, any player who does well is moved out of Coventry City ASAP to pay for SISU's legal bills as they sue the council for the 45th time. Maddison of Leicester city is the most obvious example, but there was also Gudmonsson, now at Cardiff, Christie now at Fulham,Wilson of Bournemouth, and other players not so well known like Frank Moussa, Carl Baker, Marc McNulty and Leon Clarke who all did well in whichever league the club was in, and then shipped out asap. No manager can ever do well when the core of the squad moves on and is replaced by free transfers or players like Marcus Tudgay or Marvin Sordell every summer.
  10. To be fair to Tony, SISU constantly stripped any players of value every season, and constantly downgraded the squad. Think of the period when Rhodes and Gestede were replaced by Defonseou and Brown. Except every transfer window.
  11. Feeling a bit less confident than a week or two ago. In that in-between stage where I don't want to say sack the manager, but also a bit worried that a long decline may be forming.
  12. If that's how it turns out, we're stupid. Smallwood red card, so expect a loss.
  13. How's Benny B playing at today? I assume he is playing as a full striker, not an 'inside forward' or whatever.
  14. Names please. There will be someone really good, but unless we know who they are it is empty talk. I would want this mystery person thoroughly scrutinised before we sack Mowbray, and not just appointed because we now hate Tony. Or Judian Ali may finally become a reality!
  15. No I can't. Sure, we could try to see if a third ex-Klopp coach nails it, and it will be like Pochettino replacing Adkins but it has to be the right person. At the right time. However, this is Venkys and we are just as likely to spin the tombola and end up with another 'outstanding candidate' in the mould of Coyle. Spinning the tombola now would be a risk. Even if Tony was replaced by someone like you have mentioned, everyone here will want him binned if we have a phase where we have 1 win in the last 5 games.
  16. Who though? We'd all love a championship Klopp or Pep type, but I'm not sure I can think of a dynamic manager like that.
  17. He will probably make us a reasonable championship team, but we may need a change in the next few seasons to get promoted again. Not sure who would be the person to come in for that. Perhaps the Norwich manager if they get promoted, struggle and then get Pardew or Big Sam in to try the short term fix.
  18. .....bum. Don't know what to think, as we were good early on in the season and now we are on a bad run. I'm reluctant to start on the 'every player is plop and sack the manager' bandwagon, but it has suddenly gone wobbly. Maybe we should avoid relegation and then hire Ole GS when he leaves Man Utd!
  19. Scrolled down too quickly and thought you were saying that Jerome Anderson is still paid here for a second. Anyway, Bolton have been passed around amongst some right charlatans in the last few years. Almost echoes of Portsmouth.
  20. On Marlon Broomes, I remember him being in a four four two article as part of a 20 brilliant young players thing. I think Rio Ferdinand was another name. I also went to a match at Stamford bridge, probably around the time Kidd was the manager and saw him get sent off for fighting with Vialli.
  21. How big is the gap between the domestic 1 day game and the Big Bash and the IPL? Glen has had flashes of brilliance with the bat, but not the heights of a few years ago. His fielding however has been consistently brilliant, and he can be a useful bowler.
  22. Glenn is past his best in the 1 day formats. He's been hit and miss for a few years. I was watching Australia Vs India last night, and both teams could not bat. The bowlers were strangling the runs in both innings, with only Pujara emulating Rahul Dravid with his century. Without Smith and Warner Australia are very brittle, and Indian batsmen can't cope with real pace on an Aussie pitch. So many were out waving the bat about and edging it to the slips and gully region.
