Surely there is no room for him now? Not good enough at CB and we have brought in a couple of new players that can play his best position. I was really excited to see if he could become even half the player that brought him his big moves and an England cap. Thought he was treated harshly at Sunderland but starting to think that his application, desire and attitude shows that there was perhaps more to that story than meets the eye.

Came from this guy:
-
Think what it means is we're planning for when DG finally calls it a day - we back to two then. Think AA days as a striker would be bleak though - hope he can learn that inside forward role a bit better.
-
You dont half like twisting things. Quite a lot wanted him out and now 'everyone' is moaning he is leaving. Really? To quote BigCat, fake news on both accounts. Raya's departure has split opinion, you know those things that you don't like when they are different to yours?
-
Johnson has only just turned 32 too - not like he is almost 33.
-
Hence the 'if'
-
Things starting to tick along then. Worrying if we needed to wait for Raya to practically seal his move before we could start moving on this one - doesnt say much for our supposed budget.
-
Mulgrew would probably score it but then our defence with Mulgrew in it will let in their customary three goals in two minutes.
-
Tells you everything you need to know really. he saved 3.5 shots before conceding a goal on average - second best in the league at that. So whose fault was it that we were facing so many shots in the first place? Put a good defence in front of him and you have a good keeper at this level that has the potential to develop into an even better one. He made a lot of mistakes, there is no getting away from that but it would seem that TM has either pushed him out believing he was the main culprit for the insane amount fo goals we shifted last year or Raya has pushed for a move after TMs rather public condemnation of him and then dropping him at the end of the season.
-
Needs to be in next to Travis. Davenport, Evans, Smallwood, behind them would suggest at least one will have to move on and thats without knowing exactly where Downing will be playing.
-
Talk about ups and downs - happy with Johnson but a little miffed at Raya leaving the building. Are we to assume that Raya is getting most of the blame for our poor defence last season? Schmeical would have struggled with that back four in front of him (bar Lenihan).
-
if we've moved away from Gallagher surely it will be wages again? Obviously he must know that he is at a point now where he will have to drop down on wages but perhaps we're lowballing. Anyway, if wages are the issue with Gallagher, there's no chance of getting Assombalonga.
-
Or they both just read these boards - both of those messages they are talking about were on here.
-
Its the same worrying about the opposition instead of letting them worry about you thought process. Thing is, when you start looking to stop a good team, you often weaken your own.

Somethings changed - I like it! -
Just clearing out the remainder of their high earning PL dross I expect. Many will be on big wages by our standards so unless they're happy to come down there's not many I would say are worth looking at.
-
Well, whoever gets the gig - they will have some big boots to fill. Done a cracking job there has DJ.
-
That word again - even gets bandied around when kits are launched now. Why cant you just say you like it without having a pop at some that might not? JH has a point - alot of the praise is simply because its better than last years (not difficult). There is not much difference between this one and others of recent years though. When they cost 50 quid a pop and you got kids all wanting one, you would hope that it be a little more imaginative. I do like it bar the sponsor though but i would not put it anywhere near my top ten favorite rovers kits.
-
We keep hearing this that Venkies want to spend but TM wants to be calm. Somewhere in the middle would do me. As for Assombalonga...again. Can anyone really see it happening? He would need to take at least a 10k pw pay cut, and the fee will be at least 10+. Wouldnt say no of course, he is a proven goalscorer at this level but id rather take that 10 million and spend the vast majority on defence.
-
A well-deserved and natural progression - if he can make a similar impact on the first team that he has shown with the u23s, as some have stated, this could be the best signing of the summer.
-
How on earth would you know that? lol
-
And....they reveal we are keeping our back sponsor. Better be more to come lol.
-
Kits about to be revealed...hope its a gooden.

Stewart Downing - The View From Teesside
JacknOry replied to Teesside Steel's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Don't believe everything you read on Wiki... -
Stoke fans actually say that despite his obvious fitness issues and fondness for collecting cards, he is/was their best midfielder. Like us they seem to have a glut of sideways passing crabs with them claiming that Adam at least tries to get the ball forward. Short term one-year deal at the right money he would make a decent option to have. As others have said though, we have far more pressing concerns that need addressing.
