We need a younger Danny Graham - any of those around?
-
In true Chaddy style - I called it that they would have a bit of a shocker, just cannot be assed to find the post.

half a mil - next to nowt? We barely spend that 20 years later.

Dont need it. Just improve the overall quality of refereeing, give them back the power to boss a game as they see fit and make use of goal line technology only or perhaps even offside technology. No video replays of tiny contentious incidents.

Now this sounds more like it.

Certainly outperforming some of the bigger names expected to do well. Sterling and Ali in particular have always had trouble bringing their club form to the England team.

Dunny leaving his role at Rovers

So whats your point? You seem to start off on one thing and then as you keep writing you head off in multiple different directions. -
True story: I went to school with a boy named Wayne Kerr. Now who the hell would name their son that? Well, his mother was the Assistant headmaster at that very same school. Of course he was poked fun at his whole time there and probably still is today.

So one to compete for a place in the three behind and possible for a more deeper role. Well, at least he can play a few positions - so could be handy.

Its one that bares some potential and a chance of sell-on value so of course I would rather go this route than picking up money-hungry journeymen. Cheap, still young and was once highly-rated at Utd. TM likes to go for players with the right attitude and who he feels he can improve - so I am hopeful he can pull that obvious talent out of this player. Claims of fitness issues and injury concerns are a little worrying but for a cheap signing - low risk. I do hope we can sign players that will go straight into and improve the first eleven though as I am not sure Rothwell will be a starter, not straight away at least. Oldham fans seem to think he plays as a number 10 but could not get in ahead of Payne consistently (who could not nail down a spot here in L1).

Does it matter where the goals come from? Big feather in our cap that we seem to be great in dead ball situations as teams will be very wary of that. Goals from open play will come too but I would take goals from corners, penalties and free kicks all day long if it means we continue to progress in the tournament. Anyway, technically you could say Stones second was from open play when Sterling really should have buried it himself.

16/17: Squad: 45, Starting eleven: 19, Substituted in: 14, On the bench: 12 - (Starting eleven 19 times, on the bench 12 times = 31) On 10 occasions from those starts he played less than 15 minutes. 17/18: Squad: 37, Starting eleven: 26, Substituted in: 10, On the bench: 1 - (Starting eleven 26, on the bench 1 time = 27) 9 games this season he was not in the squad. Hard to make out either way from all that but on the 'Oxford' forums they have mentioned he is injury-prone. "I am surprised that Blackburn want Rothwell. Jack Payne was a bit part player for them, usually starting on the bench. If Payne can't get in a Blackburn League 1 side, how is Rothwell going to get into a Championship side. If say Sunderland /Barnsley came after him then maybe ,but I'm not sure he's proved himself at this level yet.Good on his day but also injury prone." "It’s at a stage where I’d be more surprised if he were to stay rather than leave. Love watching Rothwell and will be a shame to see him leave although his seeming inability to play for an extended run of games is a concern. Good luck to him at Blackburn if he does indeed leave - am sure it would be handy for personal reasons to be back in that part of the county and the lure of a big club, higher wages and the Championship will be great." "I can see people’s frustrations with him but he had talent. At home to Bradford he was outstanding but no doubt injuries hampered his progress with us. Good luck to him but I don’t think he is Championship quality yet." "Good luck Joe. At times he looked a really good player and I enjoyed watching him play. My worry would be whether he can stay fit enough to play many games." "Technically gifted, yes...but you have to use it on a constant basis at the end of the day. And this was what he never did (alongside injuries). He goes with my best wishes, notwithstanding." "Can’t be denied it’s a great move for him and a great opportunity. I completely understand why he couldn’t turn their offer down. There was no better sight than Rothwell running at opposition defences but his injury record was a concern, as was the sight of all that strapping he needed to wear during games. If he can get his body right he’ll be an awesome player. I wish him well. "

Yeah sorry, meant Oxford - had downed a few beers - sorry for the confusion.

Wasnt King on loan to us initially as well?
-
Nah we carved open Tunisia at will as they gave us more space and we really should have had at least 3 more against them. Pananama were a big more dogged, dirty and defensive minded - the game was so stop start with free kicks and penalties that we hardly had the chance to be more fluid through them in the first half. Secind half they just camped and we took our foot off the gas. I am not concerned going forward against the better teams so much - its at the back I worry.

i watched the first game via stream on Fox as I couldnt bare to see Murphy, I know exactly what you are saying. That Ally Wagner knows her stuff but to me it is typical Americanized over analytical stuff that casual watchers surely will not understand. Lalas is a plonker and for the first game Ian Wright was on there and to me was not really himself and just towed the line. As for the part on the game tonight, completely agree. Was so hypocritical after some of the shenanigans that the Panamanians were doing to then act so pathetically when a player of ours would knock a ball away a few feet when they had a throw in or free kick - tame stuff compared to them but they would shove our players and act like we were the cheats. That CB (Gomez?) he was the worst of the lot - a complete thug. Always bringing players down, punching Kane in the head after already wrestling him to the ground and generally just being a complete prick.

I think the injury-proneness has come from the Oldham boards. Perhaps he doesn't particularly get serious injuries so much but more niggles that mean he starts from the bench more than being fit enough to start games. Those 80+ appearances could quite easily contain half of them being from the bench. I don't know the facts or can be bothered to look but it would seem that reading the Oldham boards previously a few on their mentioned him being injury-prone. He did also have a serious injury at Utd didnt he? Again, not sure.

As usual just using other peoples posts...Mike E already said this.
-
In fariness though - two spot kicks and and a goal he knew nothing about is probably not the match to make that statement on. I do believe he is world class though.
-
Good result - top of the group. Panama essentially just parked the bus - think they were playing 6-3-1 or something second half. We obviously didn't care too much as the job was done.
-
What a dirty fckin side - I hope we stick another 5 past them and they have 3 players sent off. Proud of how the boys have not let it get to them.

All ready for a relaxing Sunday in front of the box with some nicely chilled beers? England match and then Formula 1 straight after - if Carlsberg did Sunday afternoons.
