I was referencing the three you specifically named, being Hull, Peterborough and Derby. I struggle to see us finishing 17th at present but I'll give you 21st... I'm not sure what your point is? We definitely are at risk this season, but even if we do stay up (because of the aforementioned shit teams), no one wants to sit through a season of abject performances that simply delays the inevitable by a year.

That was close to Spurs away levels of ineptitude. Not quite there but close. Truly truly shocking. Offered absolutely nothing going forward. Formation was appalling. Clarkson and Butterworth miles away from Championship standard. I wish he’d just fuck off.

Brereton, Rothwell, Nyambe all off. To be replaced by PL cast offs and bang average academy graduates. Future looking so so bleak. Still, at least Mowbray will be getting a new contract soon….

Top quality 30 seconds from Butterworth there. Awful attempt at a volley and needless booking. Can’t decide who needs to come off more urgently between him and Clarkson

This is crap. For all the shouting for him to play, Butterworth looks well off the pace. Although in fairness, he’s not the only one.

Not so much a gap between midfield and forwards, more a gaping chasm. So frustrating.

If it ends up being the difference between finishing 6th or 7th because it gets us a couple of points more it’s a fucking steal at £85k. Obviously it won’t with Mowbray in charge but it could be difference between 15th and 16th!

Just got back. That one is entirely on the manager and his total inaction. He’s a disgrace. Stood on the touch line throwing his hands in the air instead of making a change. He spent 10 minutes watching us get dominated in midfield and did nothing. Coventry looked crap. If they’re 4th best in the league then a play off spot is firmly there for the taking with this squad, just not with that idiot in charge.

The only hope of us getting him to sign a new contract is sentimentality. He's good mates with a lot of the squad and perhaps that might swing it. On the flip side, his agent will be doing a poor job if he lets him sign a contract with anything more than a £15m release clause, because the interest for him will clearly be there.

On reflection. Decent bit of business. He’s not setting the world alight in the PL. We weren’t going to mount any sort of promotion charge this season with the clown in charge, so may as well get some cash to keep the lights on. Looking at some Southampton forums, he’s starting to cop a fair bit of stick, mostly along the lines of “good Championship player, not cut out for Premier League”

There's no danger of them buying us in the Championship cos they don't have the cash to pay what the Venky's would want. Only way they take control of Rovers is through an LBO in the same manner they acquired Asda (and the way in which the Dingles were bought). That would rely on us having a strong pipeline of revenue (i.e. Premier League TV cash) to support exorbitant debt payments. Then (much like the Dingles) we'd be very heavily reliant on not getting relegated, lest we face financial Armageddon. I'd much rather Rovers are heavily indebted to their current owners than owing external finance at c15% p.a.

Really impressed with Butterworth since he came on. Got to be worth a chance from the start.
