  1. We have £12 million of strikers, who we play out wide instead of in the middle. It's hardly David against Goliath. We can, and SHOULD, get something from a game like this at home.
  2. He's a presence. Even if he does bugger all he'll at least give the opposition to think about! I like Dolan, but a centre forward he is not.
  3. And that's why Brereton should be our centre forward every game!!!
  4. Eh? He made some cracking saves. We'd be five nil down if it's wasn't for him, he's been by far our best player today.
  5. At home in the first half we managed 1 shot to WBA's 12. 1 to 12...at home...in just the first half!!! They're not that good enough to excuse that. Nowhere near good enough. We've been THAT bad. Wrong tactics and selections from TM today. Not good enough, yet again.
  6. I'm worried BB is getting a reputation as a diver and referees and aware to it. Whistle ain't being blown.
  7. Absolutely. His turn of pace is ridiculous. Always looking to probe and penetrate. Should be starting every game, fortunately it now looks that he is because we no long have about 12-13 midfielders or whatever we had last season.
  8. Even the resident sycophants on the LET can't explain it...
  9. Mowbray needs to choose one of Breo or Gally to be his main centre forward and stick to it. Let them grow into the role. This joke of Dolan/false nine/nobody up front bullshit does not work. It gives the opposition central defenders an easy day at the office and all our long balls forward are worthless. Find a target man, Tony. And support him!
  10. Fantastic save from Kaminski. How on earth can his contract be up at the end of the season? He's only been here two minutes!!!
  11. I'm literally watching this game and I don't know...
  12. The biggest issue with Venkys has always been appointing managers. If we sacked Mowbray...who would they appoint? They've never once pushed the boat out on the most important signing of all, always gone for the cheap option in the hot seat, despite being willing to open the wallet for strikers. They turned their noses up at a serial promoter in Neil Warnock, they sacked Big Sam in favour of a nobody, they failed to capitalise on appointing Paul Lambert, who found the place so egregious that he chose redundancy instead (probably good for us in the long run considering his record since, but at the time he still had a good reputation). Whoever chooses our managers (doubt it's the Venkys coming up with the list of potential coaches and managers) and has done so since 2010, they've been atrocious. Mowbray's been the best of a (very) bad bunch and saying that after his 2 wins in 17 last season really is damning with faint praise!
  13. They remind me of teams like Sunderland and Wolves. They were on such a bad run and didn't start the season well in the Championship. They've surely too many good players to be anywhere near relegation, but it'll take one heck of a turnaround to go back up automatically, that's for sure.
  14. In the past, Mowbray would have been giving minutes to Elliot, Downing, Holtby, Evans, Dack, Johnson, Bennett etc etc as well as the players we've had playing midfield this season. No wonder there's been a lack of stability, players have rarely been able to build up a head of steam. A smaller squad might be the best thing for us. We need to bring a couple of in before the transfer window closes, but I'm not sure 4-5-6 new faces will actually be good for us.
  15. Fully agree with that. Even when he played fine some fans were on his back. He'd have been a decent enough left back cover, playing some games, but nobody is crying salt tears over his departure, however.
  16. Got to say an excellent start to the league campaign from Mowbray and his team. 7 points from 9, two of those games away from home. Ayala a colossus and the more we see of him, the better our defence this season. Excellent cameo from Chapman. Should Kaminski have done better with their goal? Buckley getting into the right positions but he really should have scored at least once tonight. Must be our best start to the season for a decade? I'll never work out the Dolan in the centre and Gally on the wing thing, though...West Brom will be the toughest test yet though, swap Dolan and Gally around for that, for the love of god Tony!
  17. We lose this and we're still in the Death Spiral going back to Jan/Feb. A solo win against a Swansea team which kept creating our opportunities for us does not a renaissance make. We'll learn a lot tonight about where this team is headed this season.
  18. Even in those games, Swansea kept passing us the ball near their box and we had a princely total of two shots at the Den as opposed to their fifteen (not that they could get them on target, but still) so it's hardly time to be forgetting the horror show that was the second half to last season or, indeed, his other Mowbray Death Sprials. How many league games have we won in 2021 so far, even?
  19. As mentioned, Hughton's managerial record is spectacularly good against us, he certainly had the number of Mowbray last season, too. Beat us 1-0 at Ewood, beat us 1-0 at the City Ground. I'd take a 0-0 bore draw here (and Forest HAVE been finding scoring difficult) but the obvious bet for this game has to be... Forest 1 Rovers 0
  20. The truth lies somewhere in between your hyperbole and that of previous posters. Bell was nothing special nor should he be our first-choice left back but he would have been a perfectly adequate squad member and back-up option. A good manager would probably make a decent, if nothing more, player at this level out of him. He always seemed to look a little bit lost and unsure of himself, struggled with positioning and diving in. A good man-manager would have improved that. He'll never be Andy Robertson but he wasn't Elliot Bennett at full back either.
  21. More people liked your response than my original post saying there was a player in there when it comes to BB. I stand by what I said, he's a slow burn is Ben but there's a cracking player in there.
  22. Two months on...has there been ANY progress on his contract. Or, indeed, any other Rovers player contract?!??! How many assets are we on track to lose for nothing next summer as it stands?!?!
