Two teams coming off the back of poor results. Stalemate. 1-1. -

C'MON Stanley. Never. -
If for no other reason, we need a change of manager simply for change's sake. The whole thing is stale and the fans need a shot in the arm, something new to believe in.

No one on this board did say that Rovers spent £85k, did they? It was a hypothetical coversation. So what on earth are you going on about?

The Relegation Thread

I've done a quick calc of the points we've amassed over the last 46 league games, or the equivalent to a full season. This comes in at 56 points, one less than what we finished up with at season end. 56 points would have placed us in 15th last season, exactly where we ended up. I also totted up the points amassed since the start of last season's death spiral, starting on 6/2 ironically with a 1-0 loss at QPR. In total, we've played 33 games since then, gaining 35 points. Extrapolating that over 46 games, we'd end up with 48 points. Last season that would have placed us in 20th place, just 5 points safe from relegation. I accept that we can fit statistics to suit any narrative, but this to me is clear evidence that we're regressing. It has to be turned around, or relegation will become a reality sooner or later. -

That's my fear. Unless the club acts quickly, we're in the mire. I genuinely think we'll go down unless something drastic happens. -
I read a post - last night I think it was - likening Mowbray to someone playing Career Mode on Fifa. This is so true. It's as if he thinks he has a real-life games console, trying to be clever, swallowing the trivial stats, and going from game to game picking random formations and player positions. It's beyond a joke, it really is.

Spot on. All 4 of the summer loans look poor to me. A total waste, based on what I've seen so far. -

Players were fatigued, he says. I don't buy that at all. Aside from Brereton, they've all just had a fortnight off! -
I don't think it's too much of stretch to say that we could get relegated if he stays much longer. The club needs to take action now.

Is that 6 changes from the side which started against Coventry? Jeepers. Anyway, COYB. -
New 17 games season ticket unveil by BRFC

Waggott's get out of jail card for a bumper crowd for the Sheff Utd game, could be with the visitors rather than with our latent support. £14.60 could well prove very tempting for a big travelling support. I've got City/Utd mates at work who always enjoyed coming to Ewood. It's an attractive away fixture. -
The competition will benefit Nyambe (or whoever) in terms of salary more than it will benefit Rovers in terms of transfer fee.

There will be once clubs realise they can get him for a song.

My take on attendance figures: Attendances are generally dictated by 2 factors; success on the pitch and price. When the team is playing well, price becomes less important as people like to watch and be associated with a winning team, and so are prepared to spend on it. When the team isn't playing so well, price becomes more important. For where we are now, price is the overriding factor. I personally don't see charging £14.60 - or whatever it is - massively impacting the gate. IMO, it's not low enough to make that much difference. ie for a lot of people, it's still not cheap enough to entice them into paying to watch a mediocre side. -
That may be true for elite teams with elite players who can adapt. We are and have, neither.
-
From his latest LT waffle: “Formations don’t really matter in modern day football, when the game is so condensed from front to book or side to side, it doesn’t matter whether you have two in midfield or three in midfield, you watch the top teams play, when they’re defending everyone is behind the ball, when they’re attacking they’re attacking six, seven players and the best teams have that. Why does he constantly mess about with formations then, if they supposedly don't matter?

Hopefully it'll be on Rovers TV -
Probably, but possibly not entirely the case. They may also be sick of playing under Mowbray et al.
-
Running with it? Hardly. If you read my original post in this thread, you'll have noticed that I caveated it with 'If true' You'll also have notoced that it wasn't me who quoted the 85k in the first place. I was simply responding to a hypothetical discussion with another poster.

I wouldn't be too sure about Derby. 8 points from the last 5 games, versus our 5. -
Summer transfer window 2021.

Maybe if they didn't go around, as an example, spunking £85k on a knackered Brereton to play for 20 minutes, we'd have a bit more money in the kitty. -

8 wins out of 32 is diabolical. -
Assuming that the 85k was spent over and above what it would have cost to fly Brereton back anyway, and was spent purely so he could play some part in Saturday's game... I'd say in hindsight, that was a terrible waste of money. He sat on for the bench for 70 minutes, and when he did come on made no material impact on the game whatsoever. 85k straight down the pan. So how could we spend the money better? How about.... - putting the money towards offering soon-to-be-out-of-contract players a better deal - or putting the money towards the January transfer fund so we can buy/loan a better standard of player - or spending on remedial work for general upkeep of our scruffy looking stadium - or showing some initiative, offering more reduced priced games, and putting the money towards offsetting any potential loss of income through that - or employing sufficient staff to man the turnstiles - or employing sufficient staff so the refreshment bars are actually open - or paying back those supporters who are still owed ticket money from the previous season to last - or offering free tickets/travel to regular away supporters - or best of all, putting the money towards Mowbray's redundancy compensation package.
