  1. Especially the punch was very poor. For the followup he could have done better but I really think the defending from JRC was unacceptable. Pears has generally been good this season, but I think his recent mistake for Oxford's (barely) offside goal was worse than Toth's mistake against Coventry.
  2. When other clubs are making seemingly ambitious signings it's important to keep in mind that the true quality players will not be made available until the last day(s) of the transfer window. Signing a player in a week rather than now also means one less week to pay his wage. And other clubs may be more desperate to get rid of their deadwood.
  3. To clarify I meant that when he played for AIK he and the club agreed to terminate the contract as he wasn't playing much.
  4. When Sigurdsson played in Allsvenskan he was one of the best players in the league. Meanwhile this guy barely featured for a midtable side and they agreed to terminate his contract.
  5. Maybe it's technically true. Would not even be surprised if it turned out Plymouth paid a small fee to get rid of Forshaw.
  6. Forshaw looked shocking yesterday. Reminded me of the corpse of Danny Murphy showing up in a Rovers shirt for one last payday. I don't rate Garrett but at least his legs haven't gone.
  7. His determination to get the ball into our own box definitely created that goal.
  8. Ok so to sum up this thought process: It doesn't matter that Pears is a total liability because we need to look at the bigger picture. We might be able to sell him for a small fee down the line if he can improve. We need to recover some of the money we spent on the transfer fee and his wages. Just stupid penny pinching.
  9. The notion that Pears is a "safe" option and that it's "too risky" to start the new keeper doesn't make any sense if you consider how poor Pears is. The situation would be a bit different if Pears was a solid but bang average keeper.
  10. Pears is terrible! Why wait? The logical move is to start the new keeper who has (hopefully) been identified as an upgrade by the recruitment team. For example the keeper who Derby started against us had a great game against Middlesbrough but has been benched since then in favour of their new keeper.
  11. I don't get this reasoning. Why wait for one more inevitable horror show? Been given so many chances and clearly cannot be trusted. Even terrible keepers have decent games every once in a while. Just drop him.
  12. I was very sceptical about our chances in this game but we battled hard and could have won the game. Eustace and every player deserves a lot of credit for how we performed today. Horrific performance from the referee and linesman. The "imaginary card rule" is not enforced consistently, thus making it feel like the referee chose to send off Gueye because he wanted to. Especially considering how pathetic the first booking was. A Rotherham player received a similar red card when we played them last season, and it felt unfair back then too. The offside decision was a joke, not even close.
  13. Starting Pears is likely more risky. Again and again he has proven he cannot be trusted.
  14. Our new goalkeeper should be thrown straight into action on Saturday as long as he is match fit. If he doesn't get that vote of confidence we should have signed someone better.
  15. The last transfer windows have been horrible (including this one). The dumbing down just continues. The squad is severely lacking in depth. The wage budget must be one of the lowest in the division. Massive transfer profits are not reinvested into the squad and we are instead looking at short term signings (loans and cheap old players with no resale value) and cheap gambles. There seems to be no long term plan, it's just cost cutting.
  16. It's good that the club has raked in huge transfer profits in the last year because we desperately need some quality signings. The current squad is so lacking in depth that a few injuries would mean we're totally fucked.
  17. How the fuck has Pears not been replaced yet?
  18. Crazy how they massively overpaid for dross like Delap and Muric who are nowhere near Premier league standard. Will be very surprised if they manage to avoid relegation.
  19. No he should be fit and starting. To not be training or playing for 3-4 weeks when a move apparently isn't imminent is a disgrace. I'm not saying it's his fault. Just shows the club is desperate to sell him.
  20. I don't know what the bid is but yes, probably. He is a very good player.
  21. I do think he deserves a move and that he will be sold but I disagree. He is under contract and if Ipswich are making lowball offers he should stay here and get on with it. You don't always get what you want.
  22. Fleck was a panic signing. Horrific injury history and looked unfit even before his body broke down the last time. He won't be a regular starter anywhere because he will be out injured. I cannot imagine Eustace wants him back. Maybe he didn't want to rule out Fleck returning because that would be a bad look if the club decided to crawl back to Fleck with an offer.
  23. I think expectations were just even lower before these signings. It looked like the likes of Vale and Markanday could be starting a lot of games next season.
  24. Can we please sign a decent goalkeeper now with just a week left until the season starts?
