Yes they won't bat an eye lid because they'll console themselves with the hope Gudjonsson will score a bag full in league 1 and triple his worth. We could afford one marquee striker on decent wages given all the sales and wages off the books and whilst he might be 29 just look at Danny Graham for example and how he was worth the wages. Not only in goals but the way be brought other into play - helping increase their value - and used his experience leading the line. We can't afford NOT to have a striker with some pedigree they seem to have forgot Szmodics almost single handidly kept a stronger squad than this up. -

'who'll want AT LEAST 10k a week' So that doesn't alter the point does it whether he's on £10,001 a week or whatever he was never on this radar. -
If it's players only then Ronnie, Duggie, Faz, Garner for me i think. A lot will say Shearer but he's a Geordie and he'd be on theirs, others maybe Hendry and i'm a big fan of his but he bailed twice when it suited unlike the 4 mentioned. Non players it would be John Lewis, Jack Walker and maybe Bill Fox and John Williams. Managers ? Well certainly Kenny and Souness for me plus possibly Don Mackay but not sure about the other.

You have to pay for quality up top they know that full well but they just don't want to. Rather have 3 or 4 cheapies whose combined wages add up to the same or more just in the vain hope one becomes worth a few million. Fools errand. -

How come Hull can sign a guy like Mcburnie but we can't ? It doesn't make sense until you factor in he's 29 and will want at least 10 grand a week which means these lot would rather take a punt on a 5k a week younger player with zero pedigree in England. Then wonder why we carry almost no threat up front unless one of the Japanese lads is through on the counter. -
I'd argue he's as good as initial Brittain in his first season, in fact probably better but no way is he an upgrade on the peak Brittain who just left. If he can develop the same there's another good sale price in the making and that's all they care about to be honest.

Thing is it's results that win you points and it all starts from defence as Eustace demonstrated and you can get away with low XG if you can defend the point or the goal you do get. That's gone out of the window again because mainly we've lost the 3 best defenders and just tried to plug the holes with no investment. We've been there before as well. -
This lad looks like he might be a rare success from the Russian roulette summer gamble so i expect him being sold in summer for 1.5 million or so plus add ons. Probably to Preston or Millwall or similar....

I expect a few of them will get moved out pretty quickly like the last lot and they'll bring in a few more and try again. Fans just say oh it's ok only cheap punts some work some don't, fine but who benefits from the revolving door policy ? Because it isn't the team or club it's the wheeler's and dealers bringing them in and out in quick succession who do. -
I think they call it being 'installed' for a specific purpose. By whom is where the real truth lies.

Remember going to Stoke a few years ago with a good noisy following that contrasted the half empty, silent, clearly disillusioned home sections that later turned to anger. I expect similar on Saturday. Rovers 1 Stoke 3 But the upper office will be happy as usual after pocketing revenue from 3k visiting fans and seeing their patsy in tech area giving more mins to their 'investments'. -

Kargbo needs firing off down the leagues for a 6 month loan in Jan to learn how to actually be a winger in England. Everything we feared about importing cheap continentals into the rough and tumble of the Championship and the British weather is coming to fruition and it's not even November yet. Instead of developing they start going backwards rapidly because they've not experience of the struggle at a club like this and they've no bollocks for the scrap and neither have most of those around them. This was all so predictable so why was it allowed to happen ? Commission plain and simple, move them in, get them games, move them on. As proven by the last shower of shite Ennis, Leo. Tel etc they ALL got moved on quickly and they all got a small fee. And the agents running this show ALL got their commission because the advantage of cheap wage foreign players is you'll always find them somewhere else back abroad and they'll be only too glad to go after a dire experience here. This club is now an agency vehicle again existing to get guys Championship mins and move them on again it's the budget version of the Kean/Anderson scam. -
If anyone from the club is reading and actually gives a toss then restore a glimmer of pride for Saturday and sack the two pricks in charge then get the LT back on side. I can guarantee a better vibe at the ground and you could go even further by telling Ismael to pull his finger out as well.

The self inflicted managed decline is now clear for all to see. Can't really say anything other than what we are seeing is to be expected, you can't replace all the best players and thousands of mins championship experience overnight with cheap non British imports and expect anything else. As for Ismael he struggled with far better squads than this at WBA and Watford and they were trying for the top spots. He hasn't got the first clue what to do when he's up against it and that is based on more evidence than tonight. -

Probably waiting for the next Wharton instalment to drop before they can pay him off fully. -

We've largely shown we are way better than that crap on Saturday so hopefully it was just one of those bad days at the office that plague most average Championship teams. There was a lot to be annoyed about but it's done now so if we approach this like the Ipswich game it could be a good night. -

The fact they are trying to lose a man his job and basically wreck his career - by squealing to other clubs - shows how the rumours of multiple players and club staff leaving because of toxic people in charge might well have a lot of truth to it. Doubt a lot of this would have been allowed to happen if the former CEO was still here and that's not defending him but i think he would've kept a lid on a lot of it.- 405 replies

Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach

How did they get to Charlton and when did they turn up anybody know ? That performance looked like they'd just got off a coach after 4 hrs ! -

Yep this is where we are at yet again i think. 'Oh we need a complete reset to realise all the assets, reduce the losses and replace with cheaper younger players to grow for the next firesale' ...., also applies to staff behind the scenes. Waggot won't agree to such changes all at once so he's out, now who can we call to do this radical restructure ???? The old regime is back in favour and snouts are back in the trough courtesy of the man from the shadows who has always still been in place. -

That's exactly what he's doing and although they are very different types of players i'm still yet to see a lot that tells me he is even an actual better footballer than the limited Travis. -

Multiple comments on facebook sites from Charlton fans saying what the hell did Blackburns boss say to them at half time ? Very odd few days again at Rovers and i suppose something like that was par for the course. I stupidly expected all the nonsense from the last game and everything else in the background to have a galvanising effect. A bit like WBA away last season for example but we got the opposite. However when you've ripped the heart and soul and the few 'leaders' we did have out of the dressing room it's no real wonder it was so limp. Sadly i think there'll be a lot more like that this season. -

Trying to rush the kids up to U21's level might have something to do with it as the academy conveyor belt towards the first team is running on low in the near future i'd say. -

I'll give Pickering a pass this time as he's understandably rusty but Tavares is a joke. Good point about the U21's and it was something JDT's early revolution wove into the squad to keep players busy but we are now back to the casual hands on hips approach it seems. Where is Gestede when it comes to this kind of thing ? He's the boss of the football side of things so surely he can implement it. Or is he too busy nursing his eggshell ego because someone has wrote a bad word about him. -

Tavares is the most casual limp disinterested player iv'e seen here in a long while and that's saying something. Piss poor. as is the head coach keep trying to get a tune out of him and dragging the team down even more seemingly trying to justify his signing. He clearly isn't suited to what they want him to do. After watching about 20 mins of Travis yesterday for Derby this lad is as big a downgrade as you can get.
