  1. Whoever the “ someone “ is it sounds like they’re going to get the chance. The changes behind the scenes will go one of two ways, Ratcliffe will either sort the job out or alienate everybody trying to sort it out. It’s a hard one to call. Ratcliffe isn’t used to failure but Utd are in a real mess.
  2. Phillips looked a class act to me.
  3. The Young Rascals - A Girl Like You
  4. Maxine Brown - Oh No Not My Baby
  5. Oh dear, life can be a bummer sometimes. My condolences to and your family.
  6. Paul Weller on the Jules Holland show tonight.
  7. Let’s put this way - I wouldn’t have been happy if we’d have appointed him.
  8. He would have got sufficient game time here last season I think.
  9. Carol King - It Might As Well Rain Until September
  10. I know you meant Burnley, I think he’s not at their level at the moment.
  11. That’s really shabby. Whoever his replacement is I’ll be amazed if he does any better. They have massive problems there, both on and off the pitch.
  12. I’m obviously one of the few at Ewood who’s relatively happy with the manager we’ve got at the moment. However if we’d have got Evatt in instead I’d be equally happy. He’s done a good job at Bolton, they just don’t turn up on the day when it really mattered.
  13. “ playing out from the back “ in our division = staying in the division - if you’re lucky.
  14. Thanks for that. My mum had a good quality of life right up to the end. We were out in the pub together having a good laugh on the Saturday before she died on the Tuesday. That’s how I’ll remember her. She lived independently right up to the end. She was a character, alway flirting with blokes even in her nineties ! Not a bad way to go, she must have just drifted off. I’m grateful for that.
  15. Decent shout, I think he’ll come good eventually but he’s not at that level yet.
  16. Sincere condolences from me also. My mum died just over four weeks ago and I’m only just starting to process it. It sounds like your dad lived a full life and didn’t waste any of it. My consolation is my mum lived to be 93 and apart from a bad knee had no ailments. She died peacefully in her sleep.
  17. There’s a few decent managers out there. If it was me I’d be trying for Robins.
  18. We used to get Doc Martens free at work but they were safety boots with steel toe caps. Two pairs a year. They weren’t very good to be honest, the soles were too soft. We were doing some oxy-acetylene cutting one day and I stepped back and stood on a red hot nut ! What’s that smell of burning ! The swarf used to cut them to ribbons as well.
  19. Maybe, but would you have paid that much for him ?
  20. That was a very strange signing, especially for that sort of money.
  21. The number of modern day footballers who should be “ sorted for the rest of his life “ but end up in the bankruptcy courts would surprise you.
  22. I thought he did well at Derby but since then, not so good.
  23. There’s a review of Paul Weller’s latest album in today’s “ Guardian” complete with a photo of him looking very dapper indeed in a really nice blue suit. “ I’d like to meet his tailor “ . Name that tune ?
