  1. That’s good to hear. His favoured left foot was shown to good effect for Brererton’s goal but being a bit one footed nearly caused him to make a balls up of that chance for the first goal. Luckily he made amends with a short ball to the scorer.
  2. No, we showed him up a Deepdale last season. He’d be ok on the bench though.
  3. Twine was/is injured I believe. They rated Van Den Bergh at Preston but we made him look very average when we caned them at Deepdale last season. Another very young player. I’m all for youth but you need a few old heads to get out of this division.
  4. England would fit right in with todays football. As well as being a colossus of a defender he was a great footballer with a terrific passing range off either foot.
  5. Mike England, the best centre half I ever saw play in the flesh. An awesome player
  6. A class act, especially in his time at Stoke. When he lost that bit of pace you need to play up front he dropped back into midfield and ran the show. Only good players can do that.
  7. There aren’t many players about that play like Diaz does. He likes to run from deep with the ball at his feet. Davies likes to play off the centre half. Different styles, I’d still have Davies on loan though.
  8. Nobody is saying “ he’s shit “ , well I’m not anyway. The thing is he had failings as a young player that he’s obviously still got now. Decision making being his biggest failing.
  9. I would have though another first team ready centre half is a must.
  10. Who cares what they think. “ Winners are grinners and losers can please themselves “.
  11. Dack will get a game against Hartlepools.
  12. It’s nice to have goals coming from midfield players again though. That was another failing of Mowbray’s teams.
  13. Yeah you definitely don’t want them to score first. They’ve got the ale house team tactics off to a fine art.
  14. He’s playing in the old “ inside left “ position. He’s much better running from deep. I don’t think he could play up against a centre half as effectively.
  15. It’s no bad thing that he was quiet today. Him playing deeper let’s Travis off the leash a bit. Didn’t he move the ball out to the right nicely to start the move that led to one of the goals ?
  16. Yeah, not long ago he wouldn’t have rode that “ tackle “, he would have gone over.
  17. Yep, he always had that in him. In added time as well, just stupid.
  18. I was having a look through my wardrobe out in Spain recently. I came across a “ Philosophy Football “ tee shirt I bought years ago. It features a quote from John Paul Sartre- “ In Football Everything Is Complicated By The Presence Of The Opposite Team “. Other choices are available also. Henrik Ibsen - “ If The Game Is Lost Your Earthly Life Is Wasted “. Jaques Derrida - “ Beyond The Touchline There Is Nothing “. Che Guevara - “ It’s Not Just A Simple Game, It’s A Weapon Of The Revolution “. I think I’ll wear the Derrida one this afternoon to try and bring us some good luck.
  19. Possibly, especially at Burnley.
  20. For some reason back in the day I always thought she was carrying a bit of timber compared with other women in music. Now she looks pretty normal in that film. Just shows how we’ve all got bigger over the years.
  21. I would have thought they’d be on their best behaviour today, relatively speaking of course. It’s when you play them at Luton that you’ll need to take your boxing gloves. We got a 0-0 draw there last season I think but it was awful to watch. They just wanted to fight us and the ref let them get away with it. It was like the old days in the Rochdale Amateur League Div 2.
  22. No, it was an old pro called Stephen Dawson. We were losing 2-0 at one point but managed to steal a draw with a late goal and a really weak MGP free kick that their goalie miss judged completely in time added on. We were beyond poor. I came away really down hearted, we’d shown absolutely nothing and Dawson had bossed the game.
  23. It was really terrible. I came away from the game depressed. The Rochdale lad was way better than either of them. I’ve forgotten his name but he later moved to Scunthorpe. The lad was called Stephen Dawson and he was an experienced lower league journeyman but he was way too good for Lowe and Marrow. He made them look like amateurs.
  24. He was really bad. I remember going to a pre season friendly at Rochdale. They had a lad playing in midfield that ran rings around both Lowe and Marrow,
  25. If they used “ there “ when it should be ” their “ no wonder they were shite.
