  1. You can’t underestimate the Chokers level of idiocy .
  2. You wouldn’t normally put your striker there though. What skills had he got that suited him for that role ? Like most strikers any tackle they make in the area usually ends up in a pen these days. Shuffle things around a bit ok but not that.
  3. Gally, having a short spell at right back was the most jaw dropping.
  4. That’s the thing. You have to play the game that’s in front of you, not some hypothetical game.
  5. Never mind the long throws, we couldn’t even get the short throws right last season. When you watch film of old games what strikes me is how quickly throw ins were taken compared with today.
  6. Do you remember the time we threw him up front at Luton towards the end of the game ? Running in treacle doesn’t do it justice, more like running in quicksand.
  7. Anybody watch “ Rocketman “ the biopic about Elton John ? Was it any good ?
  8. The worst one I can remember was the foul on Jason Wilcox at Old Trafford. Paul Parker completely chopped him down in the penalty area and nothing happened ! This was in the days were that should have been a pen and an automatic red card. We were winning 1-0 at the time as well. Just one of a very long list of poor decisions we were on the receiving end of whenever we played the red rats in those days.
  9. We watched “ Inspector Montalbano “ tonight. I’ve been sort of a fan in the past but that was 2 hrs of my life I’ll never get back.
  10. Best shin shot I’ve ever seen. He shinned it harder than some players can shoot.
  11. If he’s learnt anything in his career that’s what he’ll do. Not like Mowbray who thought he’d have us playing like City. We’d have 65% of the ball and lose 2-1 every week. He’d seen Mahrez play out wide right and thought “ Who’s got a good left foot in the squad ? “ “Oh I know that left back I’ve just signed ——-fancy playing on the right wing son ? “
  12. Yes you’re right. Although at most places I worked you could normally get a sub on your forthcoming wages. One place I worked you could get loans. They loaned one of the apprentices enough to buy a BMW motorbike. Later on they wanted to fire him for being a dipstick but they couldn’t get rid of him until he’d paid off the loan.
  13. If the style of play doesn’t suit the players skill set we’re in big trouble. Or should I say the manager is, you can’t sack all the players so it’s the manager who usually has to go.
  14. I subsequently read it was in his oesophagus. My cousin, who was a real Blackburn lad but played only rugby union unfortunately, died of the same thing in his early forties. He’d been quite a heavy smoker in his youth. The landlord of a pub I was a regular in also had oesophagal cancer. He’d worked for years in a bookies as well as being a smoker.
  15. “ Prostate “ or “ bowel “ ?
  16. What was he bowling with - a tennis ball ?
  17. It’s funny but some players can seem to hang there and others can’t.
  18. The thing is we’ve seen this before. They think they’ve got it made at 19 and it’s all about “ Rolex “ watches and “Lamborghinis “, football goes out of the window. In five years time half of them will be where Harry Chapman is now.
  19. Yes but Wharton can jump for a ball as well. I’d guarantee he be all over Gallagher in an opposed heading drill. A lot of really big guys struggle getting off the ground more than a foot or so. Mike England was the exception to that rule. 6’3” and he could really jump. I’ve seen him head corners down into the top corner of the goal !
  20. Yet in the first season I started going regularly to Ewood Ipswich Town pipped Burnley to win the old First Division title. Courtesy of Rovers winning home and away v Burnley I would suggest.
  21. I thought that read head butted at first. That would explain a lot.
