That is without doubt the worst England performance I’ve seen in my lifetime and that’s 62 years of football. Beyond embarrassing. I would have thought that this rule will lead to more heading of the ball at a time when the authorities are trying to cut down. Any “ kick in “ within 30 yards of the corner flag will just be like another corner or free kick.

I read somewhere that he’s bringing in Craig Bellamy as his assistant. Of all the guys he’s played with in his career he chooses Bellamy ? A really great player who was a total winner, but reading his autobiography, unless he’s changed with age he’d cause trouble in an empty house.

Ian Lawther, a Northern Ireland international centre forward we got from Sunderland. He was another good header of the ball, he had the happy knack of being able to hang in the air when the defenders were on their way back down. Scored a terrific opening goal in a 2-1 win at Ewood against the dingles. It’s over 60 years ago but I can still see it now.
