We’re crying out for a Gazza who can run with the ball instead of running after it.

They played at the same venue a bit later on but I didn’t go to that show.

2022/23 Season predictions
Tyrone Shoelaces replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It’s too early to say. Let’s see who we sign first. JDT will have his hands full trying to better last seasons position in my opinion. I’m hoping for better, more consistent over the whole season, performances though. -
Sell, while the going is good.

I’m lost for words with England at the moment. Watching them play is like having teeth pulled. We’ll need a genius manager to get a tune out of those players in the World Cup and Southgate is about as far from a genius as you can get. “ Private Eye “ will be printing that old cartoon again. The players are filing down the steps from the plane at the airport, the pilot opens the cockpit window and says - “ Shall I leave the engines running lads ? “
-
Yeah Bairstow and Stokes were in their element today. Hit out or get out. That’s their game. We need a batsman or two in the line up that can hang around in those games were you’re in a losing position and you need to grind out a draw.

Our players weren’t bothered, Hungary’s certainly were. It was like watching Rovers play a team like Luton. A team versus eleven individuals.

When you start the game with three yard dogs in midfield you’re not going to create that much. It’s like Rovers playing with three Lewis Travis’s in midfield.

It’s like when they changed the kick off so now everybody just passes the ball backwards. Why did they change that ? -

In Burnley they still do. -
We’ll win nothing with Southgate in charge. Just a younger version of Mowbray.

That is without doubt the worst England performance I’ve seen in my lifetime and that’s 62 years of football. Beyond embarrassing. Worse than when we lost to bloody Iceland and Roy Boy resigned the next day, Southgate should do the same. As I said in another thread. - if they put the goals at the sides of the pitch instead of at the end when England play we might do better.

Just been watching England. My idea, put the goals at the sides of the pitch instead of at the ends. We might score then. -

Let’s see if they can take them from the right place then. Normally it’s about 20 yards further up the pitch from where the ball went out. I would have thought that this rule will lead to more heading of the ball at a time when the authorities are trying to cut down. Any “ kick in “ within 30 yards of the corner flag will just be like another corner or free kick. -
I read somewhere that he’s bringing in Craig Bellamy as his assistant. Of all the guys he’s played with in his career he chooses Bellamy ? A really great player who was a total winner, but reading his autobiography, unless he’s changed with age he’d cause trouble in an empty house.

He didn’t touch the ball that I can remember when we battered them not long ago. -

He could buy my magic beans instead. -
Ian Lawther, a Northern Ireland international centre forward we got from Sunderland. He was another good header of the ball, he had the happy knack of being able to hang in the air when the defenders were on their way back down. Scored a terrific opening goal in a 2-1 win at Ewood against the dingles. It’s over 60 years ago but I can still see it now. He latched onto a square pass about 25 yards out in the old inside right position at the Blackburn End. Out of nothing he hit a perfect shot right into the bottom corner. The old ball went like a bullet and it never went more than an inch or two off the ground. He seemed to get out of favour with Jack Marshall and with Fred Pickering and Andy McEvoy scoring for fun and John Byrom in the wings Ian was transferred to 2 nd Div Scunthorpe.

Yes we all live in hope that one day the Chokers will get something right. Maybe this is the time. -

My rugby league team got a new Aussie coach. At a meet the fans do one of the fans got up and told him ” There’s only two things you need to know - beat Oldham and beat Oldham.” There was a big roar from the fans at that point. He obviously wasn’t listening because in the traditional pre-season charity “ Friendly “ with Oldham he treated it as a training game. Inspite of the advice he gave every player a run out and Oldham won easily. He never really recovered his credibility from losing that game and he was gone at the end of the season. I hope JDT realises the importance of the derbies. -
Could have been whatever he wanted to be. A David Dunn who could tackle.
