There’ll be a lot of players watching that and thinking “ He’s a snapper, let’s get to work “. Probably a straight red card for the Blackpool player but the Burnley lad lost his shit completely. Totally pointless sending off. Just roll over a few times like everybody else.

They score first and it’s game over again. The white flag comes out. Sign some backbone this time. -
Edit I thought the game was at Blackpool. I’d say Burnley are two goals better at home.
-
Burnley must be at least a goal better but it is a sort of local derby. It’s usually the team that wants it the most that comes out on top,
-
Exactly. That argument is significantly flawed. You never get the chance to bring on a group of young players good enough to challenge for promotion together because bigger clubs take them off you as soon as they show any signs of promise. One by one they’re lured away. Phillips is the classic example. Mike England was the best centre half I ever saw. We managed to hold on to him for several seasons in spite of him being the best in his position in the country. He eventually went to Spurs for a British record transfer fee for a defender. If he was playing today he would be at City or Liverpool etc before he’d have played a full season out for a mediocre fee. That is if he wasn’t taken away as a youth player.

That’s not the point Mike. It was obviously knackering. You can’t let the players get that in their heads though. You’re walking down the street and you meet an old friend. He says “ What’s up Mike, you don’t look too good ? “ How do you feel at that moment ? I used to know the chief exec at my local rugby league club, he described part of his job as - “ Making sure the buggers haven’t got a reason to lose “. -

He’s a good player who’ll put himself about. How long that will happen for is another story when nobody else is getting stuck in. -
You don’t have to play all the wingers - you just have sign a lot of them. That was Mowbray’s plan.

Tell ‘em they’re tired and they’ll play like they’re tired. No excuses. -
They seem to be following Mowbray’s blue print of playing a team of wingers. That was after he’d tried playing a team of midfield players.

What’s the weather like down there ? It’s cooling down here slightly in Southern Spain. In the early 30’s instead of the high 30’s now. Back home on Tuesday. I’ll be looking forward to seeing some rain as I haven’t seen any for five weeks. We’re planning to winter out here as much as we can given the cost of energy in the UK. Just need to get a load of logs in before we head back.

Did you back your hunch Jim ?

Brad was worth a goal start. I never expected us to lose a game with him in goal. -
We ought to give up playing Test Cricket. We haven’t got the players anymore.
