Much as I hate to say it Dyche would get more out of the players we've got.If you wanted another name , Eddie Howe at Bournemouth. For me they'll always be under achievers with this guy in charge. We huffed and puffed to get to that semi final and lost to the first good team we came up against.

That'd be a typical Chicken Choker appointment - somebody 95% of us have never even heard of and who wouldn't be in most peoples first 25 candidates. Nothing ever changes does it ? The only appointment they ever made that was remotely sensible was Lambert with Irvine.

Looks like Ainsworth is going to Millwall now. In other news Southampton's director of football , Ross Wilson, has left to join Rangers. He did a good job initially but recently they've signed some real garbage and it looks like he jumped ship before he got the black spot. -
We'll not get many newcomers to watch what is pretty turgid, dull and unexciting football. That's got to be put right first. We need to be winning our home games, it's as simple as that really.

If Tony goes...

He'd be no better than Mowbray. -
I don't rate him as a football manager. He's more of a front man who can handle a press conference adequately. A typical FA " men in suits " appointment. We'll win nothing with him in change no matter how many talented players we have. He talks a good game but he's a lightweight when it comes to actually winning things. He makes a good figurehead but we need a proper coach actually running the team.

Your dad wasn't wrong about the Asparukhov goal. It was a brilliant effort, I can still remember it after all these years and that was against a top class England team also. He was a fantastic striker who ran England ragged that night with not much service.. He was like a quicker Berbatov ! These days he would be playing for somebody like PSG or Barca, he was that good.I believe he was a bit of a playboy who came to a sticky end. Edit. If you go on Youtube there are short highlights of the game with the Asparukov goal. Our own Keith Newton is the England player he makes a mug of on the run towards goal. That didn't happen often.

I remember the free kick Garrincha scored in that game Jim. He hit the ball with the outside of his right foot with terrific bend on the old ball. It went past the inside of the wall and and then curved back away into the near top corner of the goal. Amazing free kick. Next day I was trying to get the same bend on the ball but without much success.

I could have gone to that game but I chose to go to Brazil versus Hungary instead. I was hoping to see Pele play but he was rested.

It was like a pre-season friendly. What's happened to Bulgarian football ? They were dire, Rovers would have given them a game. England won by a pan full without every really getting out of second gear. They played walking football most of the game, that's ok against these crap teams but can they step it up against teams that press all over the pitch ?

Sounds like he's been reading the Steve " The Snake " Kean playbook. -
You're right Gumboots, 95% of players live in a bubble of entitlement from a very young age. Any setbacks in life are sorted out for them by the club. Most of them are suffering from arrested development. When the going gets tough out on the pitch they've no solutions of their own. Just look at England last Friday. They'd rolled over a load of no mark teams up to then. When came up against a team who wanted it more they just folded. That's why you need a good manager to set the standards and kick arses when needed. Going back to your school analogy, by and large the teachers that got the best results were the ones who didn't stand any nonsense behaviour wise. You don't have to be a bastard but the kids have to know exactly where they stand. That there's a line and they step over it at their peril. I've seen Mrs Shoelaces in action when she taught English, nobody messed with her and all the kids knew that from day one. Consequently her GCSE results were up there with the best if not the best every year.

Actions speak louder than words. Let's see if they care this Saturday.

I came across it a few years ago. It's a shame there's nothing like it on our site. The best player I've ever seen in the blue and white. -

I don't mind seeing them lose at all but I don't think they played badly yesterday. -
Rugby World Cup Japan 2019
Tyrone Shoelaces replied to dave birch's topic in I Can't Believe It's Not Football
From what I saw I don't think Scotland played that badly at all. Japan were just too good for them on the day. No humiliation there. Playing like that Japan would give anybody a game. -
I've got a bad feeling about this one. I wonder if the new management at Huddersfield gave their guys a week off try fly all over the shop or did they have them in every day working on formations, tactics etc ? I think we know the answer to that one. I'd take a draw now and that says it all really. Given their new managements previous record I expect us to be out enthused, again.
-
I think we should change it completely to a pair of lips then the players can kiss it more easily.
-
The extra training would have given them the message that " performances " like the one at QPR are unacceptable at this club. You spoil my Saturday and I'll spoil your Sunday. Or more to the point, your Saturday night out on the piss.

How can you tell from that photo ?

Rugby World Cup Japan 2019
Tyrone Shoelaces replied to dave birch's topic in I Can't Believe It's Not Football
I watched the first half. Japan were brilliant, their running and passing was unbelievably good. Then you get our lot dropping the ball all over the place and blaming the ball, the pitch, the weather etc. The Japanese had no problems inspite of moving the ball at breakneck speed. Some of their backs would be perfect for Rugby League. -
Most of 'em in the Blackburn End have probably fallen asleep by half time.

Treats like that should be a reward for exceptional performances, not just something to be expected. They should have been in for extra training on Sunday morning after last weekends no show. They need to learn that failures have consequences. Having said that when nobody at the club seems to be giving the manager that message how can you expect anything to change ?

The whole attitude at the club stinks and has done for a while now. I watched the Rugby League grand final Saints v Salford yesterday. Salford's coach Ian Watson used to play scrum half for my club. We were playing Hull KR in a play off semi final a few years ago and it went down to an extra time sudden death golden point situation. Next team to score wins. We set Watto up for a drop goal in front of their posts but their guys came flying out, most of them off side, charged down the kick, grabbed the ball and went the length of the field to score the winning try ! I was in the bar after the game and at one point I went to the gents, I could hear somebody crying in one of the stalls so I said " Are you Ok Mate ? " The door opened and it was Ian Watson who was sobbing. He said " I cost us the game " .You could see he was heartbroken. I said " No one players wins a game and no one player loses one either, don't take it so badly ". We're talking hard as nails Rugby League players here and he was that upset at losing. Can you see any of our lot taking the game that seriously ?
