Attendances: A cause for concern
Ossydave replied to SIMON GARNERS 194's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Well in fairness the people I've spoken to that took advantage of the Sheff Utd offer WERE actually entertained on the pitch and the atmosphere was good by all accounts (I didn't go), so that made for an enjoyable experience. Do they think its like that every week though? Probably not unfortunately. Waggott can only hope it inspired a few to get season tickets following the game, I do know 2 people who did sign up after the game...its pretty obvious though that he completely messed up the season tickets at the start of the season and the bulletproof manager being at the helm is the other key factor. -
Attendances: A cause for concern

Is £30 that expensive? What do people consider a fair price? Away tickets have ranged from £25 to £33 for us this season. Appreciate I'm in a minority but I think it's about the going rate I'm afraid. -
Well I didn't expect that at all I must admit. Initial thoughts upon seeing the team news were Poveda is shite, lazy and not arsed. Wharton looks risky, is he even fit? (Big fan of his when he is fit though) When the early goal went in I actually laughed and thought here we go again. Poveda then went onto play easily his best game for us, where the hell has that player been hiding? Diaz I thought was outstanding, absolutely led the line and put in a shift that suggested Wednesday night really hurt and he wanted to make amends, their defence shit themselves every time he marauded forward with the ball at his feet. Wharton offered further encouragement, one thing I also notice with him is how vocal he is. When the blades threatened a few times he was barking orders on how to stop it happening again. At risk of sounding like a miserable pessimist I still can't get carried away though. I think Sheff utd were very poor, as they have been for most of the season, I like Gibbs-White but after that wouldn't give many players praise. I also think it's highly unlikely that same team will play the next game, the international break won't help matters there but at least its the last one for a while. The unpredictability of this league is bonkers, hence the league table. Fulham and Bournemouth are basically up but even West Brom look a bit wobbly at times. I expect West Brom and Forest to be 2 of the play off teams then 2 wildcards. Boro will be expecting an instant impact from Wilder, I personally think he's working with scraps with that squad though. If the league is this close after Xmas it will make for a brilliant final half of the season. Until further notice we're not fully resigned to mid table mediocrity, although in the back of our minds most of us expect it.....

Facebook is awash with plants making comments like that, I say plants because I'm refusing to believe they're real people now such is the delusion. Someone tried passing off last nights result as acceptable because we once got stuffed off Man Utd 7-1 when we were in the prem (I kid you not). -

Nothing to really add about that shambles last night. The game was already lost before the red card so the tosser blaming that won't wash with anyone. It was blatantly obvious he didn't even have a plan to try and stay in the game or even one of damage limitation though, the players had no frigging idea what he wanted them to do as he just stood there bemused on the touchline! Anyone with an ounce of pride would walk after that, of course we know he won't though. Well Waggott, when you see the (very good imo) offer on Saturday fall flat on its face all thanks to the twat in charge, will you still think he's the man for the job? He's making YOUR job literally impossible. Aside from season ticket holders I doubt a single person in the ground last night will bother again this season now. I was struggling to make it on Saturday as the missus is working, I probably COULD have blagged a babysitter but theres absolutely no chance now, I'll go somewhere enjoyable with the kids, not sit watching the club I love die further in front of me. Then post match I noticed he went onto blame the players and say they'll have this result on THEIR CV, it was all down to THEM. Well in my role at work I see many CV's and carry out many interviews. One thing I'll always ask is why the candidate wants to leave their current role. It's kinda like asking Rothwell, Nyambe etc why they don't want to sign a new contract, is it any wonder??? I honestly never thought I'd dislike a manager as much as Kean, we're getting very VERY close to that now though....... -
v Fulham (h) - 3/11/2021
Ossydave replied to CambridgeRover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It'll be a tough game alright but we can't give them too much respect. They've won 2 of the last 5 games away from home which includes a loss to Blackpool, a pounding off Coventry and a draw with Bristol City who have a pretty dire home record, finally scraping a win yesterday. If we lose its not the end of the world so hoping we go at them from the off. Let's not forget our home record is also decent, last defeat was back in August against the baggies, I think we're a better team now than then tbh too. Could do with Ayala being fit really to do a job on mitro but not sure how far off he is? Gonna go for a 2-1 win and another nervy last 15 mins. -
v Derby (a) - 30/10/2021
Ossydave replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
His goals today were a joke tbh, a penalty that shouldn't have been and a through ball from the WBA player Snodgrass. He's still a top player in this league like, just hope we aren't quite as generous as the baggies were. -
v Derby (a) - 30/10/2021
Ossydave replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Derby unbeaten at home this season, our away form of late is garbage. It's difficult to see a win here I'm afraid. I think a draw is the best we can hope for and even that's dependent on the team we can field given the apparent defensive injuries again. Hopefully Wharton gets up to speed fairly quickly with a few more games for the u23s, I think we'll be needing him. -
I'd say this is the weakest championship for many years. Bournemouth are obviously the ones to beat, but even Fulham and WBA aren't out of sight yet even for teams down to mid table. Most teams have a few standout players but after that there's not a great deal in it. It should be more exciting than it is really but it just feels like it'll end up like the past few seasons we're an opportunity goes to waste, predominantly from poor managerial decisions and/or injuries to key players. The starting 11 yesterday is IMO our best team and one capable of competing with any team in the league. Will the same 11 start at Derby? Highly doubtful, although injuries may dictate that. After that it will be interesting to see how we get on against Fulham and Sheff Utd so see where we're at. Facebook will be awash with "wHeRe ArE tHe MoWbRaY oUt FaNs NoW' posts as per 🤣

Yeah I've not even seem a glimmer of hope of there being a footballer in there at all. He's either completely devoid of any confidence or just rubbish. Whichever it is he's offering nothing on the pitch.
-
Not even sure I can be arsed to watch this, let alone go to Ewood. What a crying shame that at this stage of the season it's already so bloody uninteresting. 11-5 Rovers
-
The most passion he showed all last night was making a massive fuss out of the amount of injury time added at the end. I mean yeah there probably should have been more but we weren't exactly battering them or looking like scoring! I was more than happy for the ref to end that game to be honest.
-
It wasn't a million miles off was it.... In the interest of positivity the defence looked OK last night, although qpr didn't exactly test them THAT much. Which is kinda the most annoying thing again, another loss against such a bang average team. In 2 minds whether to even bother watching at weekend nevermind attending. Forget ticket prices, the biggest issue with dwindling gates is without a doubt that predictable prat who was prancing round in skechers on the touchline last night looking like a geography teacher covering a P.E lesson because the usual teacher was off sick. Clarkson was the really shit kid playing in pumps and a kit made up of lost property, seriously what the hell does he offer on a football pitch?
-
Only guarantee in this one is goals. Either 2-2 or maybe someone will nick a 3-2 win. Hopefully he will bin the 5 at the back off but I'm not convinced he will, he'll want to use his new toy Van Hecke and surely even TM wouldn't drop Ayala or Lenihan. I'd like to see Johnson given a run out in place of Travis. He really isn't influencing games at the moment and whilst people point the fingers at the defence every time we concede, the midfield needs to stand up and be counted too. It's exactly the type of game where he makes about 4-5 ridiculous changes to the starting line up though this on the back of 3 games without a win so brace yourselves come 18:45 tomorrow when Poveda is up top with Buckley 😳

I think its more a case of general apathy and a "what's the point?" attitude from many fans. We've all been down this road before especially with K**n. Showing displeasure about a manager in the ground when your owners are nowhere near is pretty pointless right? Not like it'll inspire Waggott to swing the axe. There's definitely pockets of fans unhappy with Mowbray at the ground but it's far from a majority. It's the same kind of apathy that means a lot of people don't even bother turning up to the ground anymore. OK you do get the odd game where we put a team to bed I.e Cardiff, but theres many more games like yesterday and like Luton were we now expect the team to fuck things up. Was anyone confident at 2-0 yesterday that we'd win? I know I wasn't. If you're a season ticket holder you'll blindly turn up, if you're not then wheres the inspiration to attend when you could quite accurately predict the outcome of the game in a soulless half empty stadium? We either start like slugs and go behind, or we get in front then collapse. Away games are a slightly different kettle of fish as they're a much more enjoyable day out, its not all about the football. -

Another frustrating day at the office, and another Mowbray interview saying the opposition are a good team. They aren't, they were shite and tbh that's the most annoying thing. I wonder if playing 3 at the back was tactical, or did he basically want to shoehorn Van Hecke into the team? Pretty sure it's the latter. I didn't think he looked too bad in fairness until he visibly tired and started looking like a clumsy lump. Agree with what others have said about Poveda. Yet to see anything appealing about this lad, same goes for Clarkson. Khadra looks to have something about him but seems a bit of a crock up to now. Poor subs, we needed Johnson today, Buckley was treading on egg shells after he for a talking to not long after his yellow and it showed. The only sub of any merit was Diaz but it was too little too late. I can see the QPR game being very similar in terms of goals at both ends. -

We need to start well in this one, not end up chasing a game again after another shite start. IF we do that then we may surprise a few who are worried about goals. We have a canny knack of pulling together on the goal scoring front when up against it. All it takes is an Ayala header from a corner, a Buckley tap in or a mazy Rothwell run and shot into the corner. If we do start poor again though and go 1 or 2 down it may well be game over early doors! Assuming Darragh starts I'm going for a 2-0 win. Without him, we'll I'd rather not think about that. -
Lovely finish that was 👍

New 17 games season ticket unveil by BRFC
Ossydave replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Well credit where its due, some decent offerings there. It does beg the question of where was this kind of imagination pre season though. I saw us advertising for a new head of marketing (not 100% on the job title but it was marketing related). I wonder if this role has been filled and its that person's first key decision. If so maybe things are looking a bit more promising. Or maybe it's a direct result of Waggott talking to the fans in previous away games. -
Honestly no idea how Magloire has made it this far as a footballer, he really is THAT bad it beggars belief. On one hand there wasn't much alternative but to play him, but theres only one person to blame for that. Must have gambled on his little favourite JRC bring fit at some point, won't hold my breath on that one. Yet the simpleton packed a recognised right back off on loan knowing full well Nyambe gets injured every other week. Not a fan of international breaks usually but this one can't have come at a better time. We have a very good starting 11, we have a very average squad that can't be relied on, it's that simple. Big shout to the clown who set the smoke bomb off on the train coming home too 🙄

Had a bad feeling as soon as Lenihan was missing, an even worse feeling when Nyambe went off. Sorry but Magloire is garbage, in fact so is Danny Ward but he scored 2 of the easiest goals he'll score all season (if he even scores again). If Nyambe was concussion that also means we can't play him on Saturday regardless right? Can't get my head round why Butterworth, who changed the game against Hull has been shunted aside ever since then? If we have to play Magloire on Saturday then I'd just play him as a right back to be honest, at least he can use his pace to his advantage a bit, Buckley will be wasted as a wing back and Magloire seemingly can't win a header. We'll definitely see some goals at the seaside that's for certain. -

Going for a 1-1 and the unbeaten away run to continue. That said, I did predict a 1-1 against Cardiff and got that a bit wrong. We've struggled there last few seasons, no idea why cos they were pretty dire too both games too. Either way we go into Saturday in the top 6 unless we get absolutely battered. A win tomorrow and we get giddy, another win on Saturday and you really have got reason to believe. I can see Carter slotting in for either Ayala or Darragh, whoever is considered the most risky. The rest of the team should remain unchanged. -
Ayala is basically everything we've been missing for, well as long as I can bloody well remember. Said last season he's easily our best defender when fit and he's showing it. We are of course walking such a nervy tightrope on the fitness front. It eases slightly when Wharton is fit but still, wrap that man in the finest cotton wool money can buy. Absolutely delighted for Ben, a hatty is a major achievement regardless of how they go in, the best thing that's ever happened is his Chile experience! I was already looking forward to Blackpool immensely but even more so now, unfortunately can't make it midweek. Another good result for the tangerines too today so won't be an easy one at all.
