Summer Transfer Window
ben_the_beast replied to Stuart's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Did he? I thought he had very little to do. Played a few simple passes. And that's about it. Nothing to show he is the answer in Ayalas absence but harsh to say he looked out his depth. -
I'm not sure you can really blame him for having his favourites sometimes. If he has a group of players always out and enjoying their time on the beers then an Elliot Bennett who looks after his body and comes into training ready to work what is Mowbray supposed to do? He is probably well aware of certain players attributes but if he were to pick them regardless of attitude it says to those players that their attitude doesn't matter and to the rest, especially younger players that they don't have to be professional. In this instance I am all for Mowbrays favourites and having role models such as Elliott Bennett in the squad is exactly what is needed, even if he isn't getting many minutes.

Exactly what I would be looking to play. No square pegs in there. Armstrong can't carry us with his goals all season long. Gallagher has to contribute. He's suffered for a long time here being played out on the wing. But also due to other players not giving him the kind of service he needs. A Warnock would get a lot out of Gallagher as at the end of the day. He's a big bloke and he can shift. Douglas could be key to Gallagher's success. Get the ball on his head in the area. Or at least have him bouncing off one or two players in the area and he will at least be a nuisance. If Holtby also likes bending them in from the other side. If Gally was central if he lingered towards the far post he would also see winnable balls played into him. It's not rocket science. He might have his limitations but if you pop it on his head in the area the ball is going to end up bobbling around somewhere. This will create chances. -
Watford v Rovers Wed 21st Oct 7.45pm

No need to be changing formations. I think with the signings we've made and the players in our squad 433 is absolutely the way to go. Yesterday was yesterday. Forest couldn't have wished to face us at a better time and at the end of the day it took a deflected jammy as anything effort in the 90th minute to beat us and prevent our fourth clean sheet in a row. Had that luck fallen our way it would be a very different mood on here. I am hoping that with recent signings we see Evans going the same way as Smallwood. We could have coped without Rothwell or Holtby. But them both being out really damaged us from an attacking sense. Hopefully Holtby is back with us as we desperately need his quality on the ball. I imagine Rothwell will still be isolating which is painfully unlucky for both him and us. Stay solid. Watford will attack us. So keep it tight and hope to do to them what Forest did to us. -

If there was ever a game to try and grind out an unspectacular, boring 1-0 win this is it. Would really set us on our way in our season with a good accumulation of points prior to us only getting stronger with players returning. -

Mate supports QPR. Manning wanted a good old wage rise. They have a strict structure. Fairly similar to us. -

It's a crazy change from last year. Funny thing is that even without seeing two of them I bet all 3 we have signed are better than Walton -

We might have a lot of options. But in a way it is no more than previous years. There is just a lot more balance. If Elliot signs that is -
The Godlike Genius of Charlie Mulgrew

He's a Scottish man, better than Zidane. Charlie is class. Left an impact at this club. Time served doesn't always matter. But he lifted us out the mire when we needed it most of all. Please nobody start quibbling over this term. But in MY EYES he's a bit of a legend. -

Style wise i think very similar. Both have a great delivery and are very good going forwards. Both may get caught out defensively. One is 31 and somewhat cheaper. One is 24 and a fair bit more expensive. -

I thought he was awful against Cardiff. No intelligence. Continued bombing forwards the entire game straight into space that was already occupied. People commented that Dolan had a quiet game. A large part of that was because Nyambe did not pass to him once. Dolan is the type of player who doesn't even need to be in a good position. Just give him the ball to feet and let him have a go. -

If we managed to sign a left back and Harry Wilson we would surely be looking at playoffs minimum. He would add perfect balance to our side. I don't think we will. I think he will command a big loan fee. If Mowbray was questioned about him I imagine his response would be a good old chuckle. Whoever ends up with him though will have managed to secure the outstanding loan deal in the league this year. One that could make all the difference. -

Would be brilliant if we could offload Corry Evans and replace him with Whiteman for very little cost to our budgets. I think that was maybe something Mowbray was hoping for earlier in the window. However without Donny severely dropping their asking price I think it is completely unrealistic. And to be honest there is even less suggesting Stoke actually want Evans anyway. All a bit pie in the sky -

A lot of negativity on here. Obviously we weren't as good as previous weeks. But Cardiff had done their homework. I felt we were still the better side though and just needed to be more clinical. Arma and Gallagher missed sitters. Then lots of half chances or shots from range that we just didnt get hold of. Big positives are a third clean sheet in a row and in really slippery conditions Kaminski was good again. Loved seeing Ayala tearing into a couple of his teammates. The addition of those two should hopefully see us remain in the mix most of this season and stop the Mowbray spirals we've become accustomed too. Overall a good first segment of the season. -

If there has been a weak spot in our side the last few games it has been Lenihan. -
Think we are going to be seeing a whole lot more of Dacky soon. His Mrs has a new show coming out and it looks like its featuring him quite heavily. Time to turn up the cringe factor

Johnson is better in a 3, Holtby is better in a 3, Rothwell is better in a 3. They are a bit of a traditional sitting player in Johnson with a 6 slightly ahead of him with more of a passing technical skillset in Holtby and an 8 in Rothwell providing real drive. They all bring different skillsets and compliment each other perfectly.

Total guess work on my part but considering it is talking about him making clubs wait after their initial interest in the summer I would assume we went for Kaminski instead of this guy -

Pleaaaaaase can everyone stop talking about Raya. He must have taken up a good 50 pages of this transfer thread. Just go on his own specific thread. Mods could you not start chucking Raya chat in there to help? -
Rovers vs. Wycombe - 19th Sept, 3pm
ben_the_beast replied to J*B's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
To be fair, given Nyambes history of niggles, the opposition and JRC's ability to pick a final ball I think Mowbray is fully justified in the decision. People just like to stick the boot into the manager wherever possible. He's praised Nyambe and justified his reasoning. Not like he's called him out for being crap when he has played quite well like Mowbray has done in the past. I imagine Nyambe will be straight back in next game. -
Anybody know what the deal is with Butterworth? He's been out injured for a ridiculous amount of time now. What was the injury? Any sign of him on the way back at all?

My mate who is a QPR fan said £5m had been mooted. But he also said Eze was off to Palace for £28m so definitely has a habit of exaggerating figures. In saying that I would say 500k is definitely on the low side. I'd be thinking he would still be about £1.5m at least. -

With Sharpe just recently posting an article talking about a past interst in Manning if we have tied up a deal it will certainly prove whether or not he has contacts -
