  1. I’m pretty sure I’ve got it right and the LET are wrong - just under 9,300 including half STs.
  2. We will just have to disagree on that. I thought that he was mostly bloody awful. He had virtually no defensive capability and went missing for large parts of games. He was always good for the occasional run at defenders gliding past a few before giving the ball away. He wouldn't get near a JDT team. He's not near the Bournemouth team either - 140 minutes in total in 3 games, two of them in the cups. But he does have a presumably well paid 4 year contract.
  3. I think he probably is, but more because of Rothwell's failings. The archetypal show pony, having a great game about 1 in every 10 but still having little end product. He managed 11 goals for Rovers in 4 full seasons, when he played 30+ games in each. Szmodics has 3 in 16 games, many of which he didn't play all game. I See Rothwell didn't even get beyond half time in Bournemouth's side against the dingles on Saturday.
  4. According to the PL2 website Fyles won it with a penalty, our only shot on target.
  5. Whether Malaysians want to watch our cup tie it will be broadcast to them, as all FA Cup games are these days. Clearly we won't be a live TV game here but the odds must be about evens on whether it's 3pm on Saturday or 2pm on Sunday.
  6. You’re right TS. I saw the claim on a Big Club site that we had never beaten them and then checked it on what was obviously a rubbish web site. We’ve played each other 4 times in the FA cup, twice in the 30s and twice this century, and lost them all.
  7. Rovers have never beaten Big Club in the FA cup. Mind you, we’ve only played them once. And obviously we’ve never beaten Forest Green either.
  8. I am also bemused by the constant theme from posters on here that Wharton is our most gifted midfielder and should be starting every game. I can only assume that people are willing it to be so because he's a Blackburn lad and a Rovers fan. It certainly can't be based on a number of outstanding performances because as yet there haven't been. There was an outstanding debut at Blackpool and one or two brief cameos where he showed some promise, There have been at least two games where he has been taken off at half time, a league game (?) and at West Ham. In the latter he was replaced by Garrett who clearly outperformed him and has gone on to give some more excellent performances (MOM against Cardiff). Disclaimer: I didn't see today's game so don't know how he played but the fact that all the negative comment was about Travis and he played the full 90 suggests he did at least OK. Garrett is just simply ahead of Wharton at the moment. It doesn't mean that Wharton won't come good in time and go on to have an outstanding career. But he could throw it all away if he is believing the hype and not getting his head down.
  9. It's nearer to a full strength team than ours but not a true first 11.
  10. To be fair Forest played an almost full strength side against our reserve team. Today Forest made 11 changes and only 2 of the starting 11 started against us.
  11. The first Rovers game I ever went to was with my Uncle, who had to put a half day in at Leyland Motors on Saturday morning first.
  12. There are indeed some fine pubs between Gloucester Road and Ashton Gate. One of my brothers-in-law lives just off Gloucester Road in Bishopston. But it's the other who is a ST holder at City. He lives in Portishead so we rarely get beyond going to the Black Horse in Weston-in-Gordano, a wonderful pub but you need a car too get there (and an accommodating wife or sister-in-law to drive you).
  13. That certainly is a big old walk if you're coming down Gloucester Road.....
  14. Tickets go on open sale from next Wednesday 11th. But our initial allocation is 1,036 and it's conceivable those could sell out. No doubt there will be more available but there might be conditions on the sale of those e.g. no sale or return. As JohnD says I would call the ticket office.
  15. So can Luton, although the game they have in hand is against each other, so they can’t both.
  16. McGree started the game very impressively. Borough looked very sharp in the first 5 minutes but our goal set them back a bit. I thought Rovers gradually became the dominant side in the first half and only a couple of defensive mistakes gave them chances they messed up. One factor is that Rankin-Costello started man marking McGree and played him out of the game for the last 30 minutes of the half. After the equaliser and us going down to 10 men we couldn’t afford to have JRC marking McGree and he became more dangerous again. Dark’s substitution was because he can’t play central midfield especially in a team down to 10. I guess an alternative would have been to take off either Diaz or Gallagher and put him up front but if there is a concern about his stamina then the last thing you need with only 10 is one of them knackered.
  17. Ah but this one's one of those rare "only on the red button" games, rather than centre stage.....
  18. There are Metro trains running on Boxing Day but perversely not on the bit that runs into Sunderland (where 45,000 people want to get to for a football game).
  19. There were nearly 9,000 Rovers fans there on Wednesday night. Less than for a league game but you and I were hardly “a few”.
  20. At West Ham Garrett was much better than Adam Wharton. There seems to be an automatic assumption on here that Adam Wharton should be starting regularly and Jake Garrett is a sub at best. Part from the Blackpool game I’m seeing no evidence of that. It’s way too early to be making definitive predictions about both to be honest.
  21. The TV companies at the end of the day are interested in viewers rather than league positions. They are more likely to choose teams towards the top because that might bring in more neutrals but any game involving the likes of Sunderland, Sheffield United, West Brom are going to bring in more simply because they have more fans.
  22. Apparent he’s also a boycotting ST holder as well. I wasn’t aware Burnley had any, especially someone it seems so committed.
