  1. I make no claim to being perfect environmentally, but having driven an electric car for the last 5.5 years I can’t imagine buying an ICE car again.
  2. I think I’d better not mention that I’m going in my electric car on Saturday….
  3. I think Tyrone needs a route from Rochdale. Take the Rochdale canal down into Manchester to pick up the Bridgewater canal and proceeds as above. I would take the Shropshire Union, as it’s a bit quicker - hang a right in Middlewich and left at Barbridge. Then down the BCN into Wolverhampton and then into Birmingham. Where Wolves at home on Friday night you could pop in there on your way. I’ve taken our canal boat to a few Rovers games, a couple at home and once to the FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea at Old Trafford. I’ve also gone to the cricket T20 finals day at Edgbaston by boat. Fuel consumption’s rubbish though - about 1.5 litres of diesel per hour. PS You can’t take a barge into Birmingham, you need a narrowboat.
  4. The AA reckon the current cost per mile of driving a car is 47p. Now, if your car is 9 years old I’m assuming there isn’t too much depreciation involved so I gave you the benefit of the doubt and reckoned on more l8ke 25p a mile. For a 240 mile journey that’s £60. You’re right in that fuel would be half that but you’re still incurring something like another £30 in other costs. Not on the day but overall you are.
  5. You have still spectacularly missed the point in my email. That was that it will cost you more like £50 or more just to use your car to goo to Birmingham and back, not £25-30. Any food and drink would be on top of that. It wasn't that I think you should take the coach or train, that's up to you, but you were greatly underestimating how much taking the car costs. With a 9 year old car you might also have had to pay the fee to enter central Birmingham as well.
  6. I haven't been for a while, but it's number 3 in the country on the list above, so I guess it is. As I said above the Parkers Arms and the White Swan are both better in my opinion.
  7. Driving to Birmingham and back, 225 miles, is going to cost at least £50 when you add in all the other costs. If it's a new car quite a bit more, maybe a bit less if it's an old car with great fuel economy. No matter how well you look after a car mileage adds a lot more costs than just the fuel. Anyway, this is spectacularly off topic.
  8. Chatty - you, as many people do, are greatly underestimating the cost of driving. £25-30 is presumably just the fuel cost, what about the other costs, mainly depreciation?
  9. I will be missing 5 home games this season and that's pretty normal for me. It's usually because we're away from home quite a bit but I can't see that changing much with a new granddaughter in London to dote over.
  10. There were "plenty left" when I bought mine this morning.
  11. You do need to be careful with the details. Swansea’s £345 is only if you buy a £79 under 12 ticket with it - otherwise it’s £399. Bristol City’s cheapest price is £385 unless you go in the Family Stand, for which you presumably need a child.
  12. As far as I can see both periods are open to anyone.
  13. No, because I haven’t been involved with any meetings to discuss the home game. We spoke about the game at the last Forum but the club said that the numbers had not been agreed at that time. I and the chair of the Forum went to a meeting with police, both clubs and fan reps from both clubs before the Turf Moor game and there is another planned for the home game but no date yet.
  14. It was on Sunday last year.
  15. I just tried to check what I thought the numbers were. It's £10K for an away game and an amount up to £100K for a home game dependent on the time slot.
  16. Yes, although hardly anything for away games.
  17. Does anyone know how many league games we have been live on Sky this season?
  18. That's correct arbitro.
  19. Almost certainly.
  20. No. The database was closed some time in mid February. The date was given at the Fans Forum last week but I didn't minute it - I think it was 19th but don't quote me.
  21. It would be easy for me to say The Full members Cup Final, winning the Premier League at Anfield and the League Cup in Cardiff but I'll add both the Play-off Final and particularly the first leg of the semi-final at Ewood when Rovers came from 2-0 behind to win 4-2. The latter is still the only game I have ever been to when the singing continued right through the half-time break.
  22. The police were particularly concerned about the game at Ewood when I went to a prep meeting for the Turf Moor game. With no bubble the opportunity for confrontation between fans is much greater at Ewood and would be exacerbated should 7,000 Burnley fans be allowed. The only way Burnley fans are going to be in home areas is if Rovers fans on the database buy them for them or if they got themselves on the database a month ago. The Police concerns have non doubt been made worse now that the game is on a midweek night rather than a Sunday lunchtime.
  23. A young under 21 side beat PNE 2-0 in the Lancashire Senior Cup at Brockhall this afternoon. Ethan Walker scored both goals against his old club. Rovers had two triallists playing. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2023/march/21/report--rovers-under-21s-2-0-preston-north-end/
