  1. I haven't been for a while, but it's number 3 in the country on the list above, so I guess it is. As I said above the Parkers Arms and the White Swan are both better in my opinion.
  2. Driving to Birmingham and back, 225 miles, is going to cost at least £50 when you add in all the other costs. If it's a new car quite a bit more, maybe a bit less if it's an old car with great fuel economy. No matter how well you look after a car mileage adds a lot more costs than just the fuel. Anyway, this is spectacularly off topic.
  3. Chatty - you, as many people do, are greatly underestimating the cost of driving. £25-30 is presumably just the fuel cost, what about the other costs, mainly depreciation?
  4. I will be missing 5 home games this season and that's pretty normal for me. It's usually because we're away from home quite a bit but I can't see that changing much with a new granddaughter in London to dote over.
  5. There were "plenty left" when I bought mine this morning.
  6. You do need to be careful with the details. Swansea’s £345 is only if you buy a £79 under 12 ticket with it - otherwise it’s £399. Bristol City’s cheapest price is £385 unless you go in the Family Stand, for which you presumably need a child.
  7. As far as I can see both periods are open to anyone.
  8. No, because I haven’t been involved with any meetings to discuss the home game. We spoke about the game at the last Forum but the club said that the numbers had not been agreed at that time. I and the chair of the Forum went to a meeting with police, both clubs and fan reps from both clubs before the Turf Moor game and there is another planned for the home game but no date yet.
  9. It was on Sunday last year.
  10. I just tried to check what I thought the numbers were. It's £10K for an away game and an amount up to £100K for a home game dependent on the time slot.
  11. Yes, although hardly anything for away games.
  12. Does anyone know how many league games we have been live on Sky this season?
  13. That's correct arbitro.
  14. Almost certainly.
  15. No. The database was closed some time in mid February. The date was given at the Fans Forum last week but I didn't minute it - I think it was 19th but don't quote me.
  16. It would be easy for me to say The Full members Cup Final, winning the Premier League at Anfield and the League Cup in Cardiff but I'll add both the Play-off Final and particularly the first leg of the semi-final at Ewood when Rovers came from 2-0 behind to win 4-2. The latter is still the only game I have ever been to when the singing continued right through the half-time break.
  17. The police were particularly concerned about the game at Ewood when I went to a prep meeting for the Turf Moor game. With no bubble the opportunity for confrontation between fans is much greater at Ewood and would be exacerbated should 7,000 Burnley fans be allowed. The only way Burnley fans are going to be in home areas is if Rovers fans on the database buy them for them or if they got themselves on the database a month ago. The Police concerns have non doubt been made worse now that the game is on a midweek night rather than a Sunday lunchtime.
  18. A young under 21 side beat PNE 2-0 in the Lancashire Senior Cup at Brockhall this afternoon. Ethan Walker scored both goals against his old club. Rovers had two triallists playing. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2023/march/21/report--rovers-under-21s-2-0-preston-north-end/
  19. I have been approached by the wife of a Rovers fan who sadly died from dementia a few years ago. She has his collection of programmes that she wants to get rid of and hopes they can be found a good home rather than being thrown away. They are not especially old - some date from 1992 but most are from 2001-2006. I also have a lot off programmes myself which my wife would also like to get out of the house and in truth I'm quite happy to let go (I'll be keeping a few though!). If anyone wants them or knows of a good home please pm me. Separately I asked the club first to see if they knew of a good home and I got this from Nick Cooney at the Community Trust: - We are looking out for pre 1950s programmes, plus any original items, kit etc to form part of our future museum, if you do hear of anything or descendants of ex players, that would be great. So once again pm me if you can help.
  20. Maybe it's got harder recently Kenny. We last went around Christmas and got in at a few days notice.
  21. There’s an interesting article in today’s Times on Tyler Morton. Sadly I imagine it’s behind their paywall.
  22. I'd forgotten about this thread. It was great to see 3 Lancashire pubs in the Top 50 gastropubs list this year. Parkers Arms at number 1, Freemasons at 3 and the White Swan at 7. The Parkers Arms is a great quirky experience but for me the White Swan is the pick of them. Never had anything other than a superb meal there at not stupid prices.
  23. We will be in the play-offs (or not) by the time of the next meeting on 16/5. I think the club will be offering more price incentives if the last games are important though.
  24. We can’t have done as United weren’t in the PL that season. I also have been to Bramall Lane when the cricket ground was there. When I went to Sheffield University in October 1971 they were top of the First Division (and Wednesday bottom of Div2) and the cricket ground was still there.
