v Sheffield Wednesday (h) - 21/04/2024

If we win we’re mathematically safe, as Huddersfield and Birmingham have still to play each other. -
I have a friend who is a Wednesday fan who for many years lived in Rawtenstall. Matt Smith has presumably never lived nearer Ewood than Northampton.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see McFadzean take up some sort of behind the scenes role with Eustace. I noticed at the Southampton game that at half time he spoke to every one of the 11 on field players as they came off. I would assume that he is adopting some sort of role already, whether official or unofficial. -
Looking at how MannUnited defend I think there’s every chance Coventry will be planning another trip to Wembley when they play us, and not for the play-off final.

The Sky commentators were very clear that they thought that they weren’t penalties. And in truth there was no outrage from either Leeds players or fans. -
Actually the very best teams to play right at the end of the season are those who can’t go up automatically but are guaranteed a play-off place. It’s possible the both Coventry and Leicester could be in that category. Not likely but possible.
-
Whilst we might not have picked up many points under Eustace, not only have we slowed down the number of goals conceded we have stopped conceding a lot of late ones since he arrived. Just 1 so far after 75 minutes.
-
Indeed he does but my point was that there is no control about who is voting. Presumably I could go and give Adam a 9 every game without even seeing the game. Likewise I could give every Burnley player a 1 every game.
-
Whilst it’s nice to see Adam doing so well we need to bear in mind that it’s not the BBC making these judgements, it’s just fans on the internet posting whatever scores they like. I assume many are Palace fans watching the game and making informed scores I think anyone can give whatever score they like.

v Sunderland (a) - 1/4/24
only2garners replied to arbitro's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The Rovers commentators made the same comment on RoversTV. Sunderland said they sold 42,000 tickets but there were apparently more like 30,000 there. That gap can't be made up by some ST holders not turning up on the day. -

The club have already appointed a Chief Financial Officer to replace him - someone who was Finance Director at Huddersfield. -
Blackburn Rovers Women

1,591. Not sure how that relates to the post above stating that they had sold 1,800 tickets. Still a record attendance though. I went to a women's game for the first time yesterday and had a thoroughly good time. Rovers put away two good goals very early on and were then defending for most of the rest of the game. It was a novelty to see a Rovers player at Ewood just completely beat the Southampton defence for pace for the first goal - not a sight we have seen for a while with the men's team. The front two were lively and the defence very solid but midfield were mostly run over. Hence Southampton had most of the ball but did very little with it apart from a period in the second half when Alex Brooks pulled off a few excellent saves to keep Rovers in front. -
I agree that the rules are not fair. But Forest knew what the rules were from the outset, but they carried on buying players. They bought 44 players in 15 months, including 5 goalkeepers and three players who have never played a minute of league football for Forest. They were told by their own FD in January 23 that they needed to sell in that window but they bought some more. The Johnson transfer was not marginally outside the accounting window - it was two months later.
-
It's considerably better to do it now than the previous policy, which would have led to deductions for next season. I have no sympathy for Forest. They knew the rules, they were told last January try their own FD that they had to sell in the window but bought some more instead. Then they had to sell Brennan Johnson very quickly in the Summer to meet the rules and failed by a day or so.
-
Arbitro - I checked this with Fraser Read. It seems to be bad wording rather than any deliberate policy. Any fan can get a free under 12s ticket as long as they are either buying an adult ticket for the game or they are already an adult season ticket holder. Adult includes seniors. I have asked him to clarify it on the website.

What is absolutely nailed on is that there will be some odd results in the run in - there always are. We need to make sure that we get at least one of them. -
Given Rovers Women are at Ewood tomorrow night and it will be the 3rd game in 7 days they couldn’t really play it there I guess.
-
The meeting is being delayed at the request of the fans, not the club. We wanted a meeting to be after the next court date in India, rather than the day before. Likely to be on 26th now.

Contact Christina Haines, Rovers’ Supporter Liaison Officer. She will be able to sort you out. It may also be possible for your friend to loan a headphone set to get match commentary as well.

It’s not an age thing. My wife’s from Bristol and I have family who are ciderheads. They all refer to Bristol Rovers fans as the gas. -

We have done plenty of times, the last one only a few years ago. I’ve seen them play each other at 3 different grounds, Eastville, Twerton Park and the Memorial Stadium and of course at Ewood. -
Rovers Rumours & Speculation
only2garners replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Well he was at the QPR game. He emailed me on the Monday asking for a meeting with me and the chair of the Fans Forum and we had it on Tuesday. He invited us both to the meeting with players on Wednesday but Mark was working and I went away on holiday. I was told at the QPR game that he was off to India the day after but that can’t have happened. He presumably could have gone later in the week though. PS I once flew to San Francisco, slept, interviewed, flew to Lincoln, Nebraska, slept, interviewed, flew to Toronto, slept, interviewed and flew home. My bag stayed in Heathrow and caught up with me at Toronto. On the plane back from Toronto I was knackered and just wanted to sleep. The Rangers team were on the flight going home and I had Ally McCoist and Stuart McCall sat behind me. They spent the whole night trying to get the cabin crew into bed. -

Would it not be that he signed a £600pw contract when he joined from Preston and then was rewarded with a rise from Feb 21?
