  1. And two further goals so Rovers lost 3-1.
  2. Fair enough. Neither did I.
  3. I have no idea whatsoever on Adam's psychological status and I'm pretty sure you don't either. Adam is right at the beginning of what I hope will be a stellar career for Rovers. So far he has played 10 games for the first team, 6 at Championship level. He had one stunning opening performance at Blackpool followed immediately by a disappointing part game at home to Bristol City - it looked at that game like he had spent the few days in between reading the press reports. Or it could well have been that his young body wasn't up to two games in a week. He had another couple of excellent games in the following weeks but as I pointed out there were also more poor performances. Since then, for whatever reason, he has rarely even appeared on the bench for the first team, so something's wrong somewhere. I haven't seen him play enough to definitely be sure that he's going to make it long term. It appears that there are plenty of others who, based on similar evidence, are sure. I hope you're all right but asked to choose between the judgement of a few folk on the internet or Rovers professional coaching staff, I'm going with the latter.
  4. Adam was certainly very poor in the first half at West Ham and was rightly replaced by Garrett at half time. There's at least one other performance I've seen at Ewood when he was off the pace, but I can't remember which game. Then we have arbitro saying he was nowhere near the right level in a recent under 21 game. I think this as much a player who is not playing seemingly getting better by comparison with people on the pitch. I've seen it time and time again with Rovers fans and it is probably the same with all fans. It's compounded in Adam's case because he's a local lad and Rovers fan.
  5. You have seen it on occasion but if you have been watching regularly you will have seen the reverse too.
  6. Rovers have I think always refused red button coverage where they can.
  7. Norwich had sold around 1,700 as of yesterday.
  8. Never mind all this team talk, how are people getting to the game? Is Tyrone back from Birmingham in his canoe yet? At least he must have missed the M6 chaos.
  9. With us having c10K season ticket holders and Norwich almost giving away up to 4,000 tickets, on a bank holiday with a 3 pm kick-off?
  10. That’s their third win in the last 4 games arbitro. We’ve played them 4 times now. We were a bit fortunate to beat them at home in the league and the two cup games needed an own goal for us to win after 210 minutes of football. And today we were a bit unfortunate not to get a point. I thought there must have been traffic problems when there were only 2 coaches there by 2.45. I thought we played decently for the first hour. It wasn’t fluent but we kept winning the ball back when we had no right to. But we didn’t take the chances we made, not many but they were there. Then Khadra scored something from nothing. We made changes and started unsuccessfully trying to play long balls to Thomas and Diaz. And when they did get through nothing much happened. We seemed to have been surprised that having scored Birmingham would sit back and frustrate us.
  11. It was worse than that Clive. The season before Southport had been in the Third Division and a season or so before had been towards the top. I think they finished fourth from bottom. It was a complete stitch-up. I should declare an interest though. I was born in the hospital in Southport and used to regularly watch them when at school, as they played on Friday nights so didn’t clash with Rovers games. I can vividly remember being at Haig Avenue with some mates the night Jimi Hendrix died.
  12. I make no claim to being perfect environmentally, but having driven an electric car for the last 5.5 years I can’t imagine buying an ICE car again.
  13. I think I’d better not mention that I’m going in my electric car on Saturday….
  14. I think Tyrone needs a route from Rochdale. Take the Rochdale canal down into Manchester to pick up the Bridgewater canal and proceeds as above. I would take the Shropshire Union, as it’s a bit quicker - hang a right in Middlewich and left at Barbridge. Then down the BCN into Wolverhampton and then into Birmingham. Where Wolves at home on Friday night you could pop in there on your way. I’ve taken our canal boat to a few Rovers games, a couple at home and once to the FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea at Old Trafford. I’ve also gone to the cricket T20 finals day at Edgbaston by boat. Fuel consumption’s rubbish though - about 1.5 litres of diesel per hour. PS You can’t take a barge into Birmingham, you need a narrowboat.
  15. The AA reckon the current cost per mile of driving a car is 47p. Now, if your car is 9 years old I’m assuming there isn’t too much depreciation involved so I gave you the benefit of the doubt and reckoned on more l8ke 25p a mile. For a 240 mile journey that’s £60. You’re right in that fuel would be half that but you’re still incurring something like another £30 in other costs. Not on the day but overall you are.
  16. You have still spectacularly missed the point in my email. That was that it will cost you more like £50 or more just to use your car to goo to Birmingham and back, not £25-30. Any food and drink would be on top of that. It wasn't that I think you should take the coach or train, that's up to you, but you were greatly underestimating how much taking the car costs. With a 9 year old car you might also have had to pay the fee to enter central Birmingham as well.
  17. I haven't been for a while, but it's number 3 in the country on the list above, so I guess it is. As I said above the Parkers Arms and the White Swan are both better in my opinion.
  18. Driving to Birmingham and back, 225 miles, is going to cost at least £50 when you add in all the other costs. If it's a new car quite a bit more, maybe a bit less if it's an old car with great fuel economy. No matter how well you look after a car mileage adds a lot more costs than just the fuel. Anyway, this is spectacularly off topic.
  19. Chatty - you, as many people do, are greatly underestimating the cost of driving. £25-30 is presumably just the fuel cost, what about the other costs, mainly depreciation?
  20. I will be missing 5 home games this season and that's pretty normal for me. It's usually because we're away from home quite a bit but I can't see that changing much with a new granddaughter in London to dote over.
  21. There were "plenty left" when I bought mine this morning.
  22. You do need to be careful with the details. Swansea’s £345 is only if you buy a £79 under 12 ticket with it - otherwise it’s £399. Bristol City’s cheapest price is £385 unless you go in the Family Stand, for which you presumably need a child.
  23. As far as I can see both periods are open to anyone.
