  1. We’re stuffed if we only exercise patience on Saturday - the game’s on Wednesday.
  2. A bit of a wobble on a slow pitch today in Paarl but still another good win.
  3. To be fair until recent years round two games were never on TV here, never mind overseas.
  4. No away fans yet, quite probably not all season.
  5. It could just be that we can afford to pay more than a Belgian team? I can't imagine there is a huge amount of TV money in the Belgian league.
  6. Apparently that's the fourth time in a row that they have lost 5-0 at the Etihad.
  7. Millwall are below us after today's game. The number of shots made and on target tells you quite a bit about the game. Barnsley had loads of chances in and around the box but only created a few stonewall chances - two good saves from Kaminski and one goal.
  8. England have done it again, winning a T20 match from a very unlikely position. With 86 from Bairstow.
  9. One game for Grindleford in Derbyshire in about 1975. I was living in the village and answered a call for help in the pub the night before. I scored - I'd like to claim it was a 30 yard screamer but it was more a 1 yard toe poke. A combination of wanting to watch Rovers and being with the lady who is now my wife meant I never turned out again. In truth a very average player. In contrast my Dad was an excellent player, probably good enough to have been a pro. I always tell people that he turned down Liverpool twice, which is true but nothing like the decision it would be now. He was a farmer and almost certainly able to earn more than being an apprentice at Liverpool. And it was during the war and he would have been called up when he got to 18.
  10. Well he is half South American!
  11. I particularly enjoyed a moment late in the first half when he came out near the corner flag to take the ball off a North End player and then just thumped the ball into row Z rather than trying to play it out in a tight spot.
  12. It depends also on how else his play is helping the team. He has 3 assists so far this season as well as his goals and that doesn't count when he hit the post and Dolan tapped in, which apparently wasn't counted.
  13. If anyone has a spare few minutes can I suggest a little look at pne-online’s game thread. There are many pearlers on there but as an example on 68 minutes - “Dolan’s coming on, cue meltdown on this board if he scores.” 8 minutes later........
  14. Well I got all three of them wrong, although Stockley's on the bench. Apparently Fisher had until 6pm to appeal but if he didn't his 3 match ban starts on Saturday.
  15. Absolutely Joe. I draw no other conclusion from seeing Pike once other than he didn't play well on the day in my amateur view. he has time on his side yet.
  16. Agreed, indeed I made the same point a page or so ago. Also like you I wasn't terribly impressed with Pike.
  17. I was about to type that tonight's game wasn't free for ST holders but I just checked on the Rovers website and it already says I have access so it muct be.
  18. The bad news is that both Stockley and Pearson are likely to start. Fisher will be banned unless they appeal before 6pm today. The good news is that they are playing poorly. On Saturday playing for most of the game against 10 men they managed one shot on target. It was the epitome of being more about the result than the performance for them.
  19. I've just been listening to a discussion on the subject on The World At One. They have been following Port Vale throughout the pandemic and they interviewed their Chair again. She said that the announcement had come as a complete surprise to them and to the EFL. She firstly said that it can't be fair to the competition that some clubs could have 4,000 fans in, others could have 2,000 and others like Port Vale probably nobody. She then made a separate point that even if they were in Tier 2 and could have 2,000 fans in it would cost them a lot of money for every home game. They would only be letting in season ticket holders who have already paid but would have lots of additional costs including more stewarding to ensure social distancing. It would be a fair point for Rovers too. Would it be worth letting 2,000 fans in even if we could?
  20. It could be as simple as Lewis Thompson being established at left back in the team currently?
  21. Although virus cases are falling in Blackburn, they are still double the national average so i would think that Tier 2 would be optimistic unless things change very rapidly in the next day or so. I'm not clear whether the current restrictions are ending on 2nd December or before i.e. will the new tiers be in place on 2nd? If so and if Blackburn does end in Tier 2 then the game with Millwall on 2nd would be the first chance = otherwise it would be Norwich n 12th. Rovers have had plans ready for fans to return for several months now but there might need to be approvals from the local SAG to get through.
  22. At first you needed a code from Rovers to get a free pass for home games if you were a ST holder but that's been fixed now.
  23. He's from the Wirral and is a Tranmere fan. He started out at Everton, then Liverpool and came to Rovers two years ago. All this gleaned from here - https://www.rovers.co.uk/teams/development-squad/profiles/midfielder/sam-durrant/ I saw bits of the game today. He was busy and constantly involved but lacked a bit in decision making. he was getting into good positions on the edge of their box regularly but would then choose the wrong option. But in the end he took his chance well. I managed to miss the sending off right at the end of the first half but it meant the second half was just Rovers trying to break down a wall of Brighton players. Eastham spent large parts of the half sweeping from the edge of the centre circle. It looked like it wasn't going to happen until first a penalty won and scored by McBride and then the 95th minute winner from Durrant. Lewis Thompson looked very assured at eft back again.
