  1. On a roll? Their last 10 games have been won 4, drawn 2 and last 4. That includes away draws at Luton and Charlton and 1-0 wins against Boro and Stoke, and they nearly threw away a 3-0 lead on Saturday.
  2. Boro did have plenty of shots but quite a few were speculative and miles away. In the first half Rovers had a few scrambles in the box which probably haven't been counted as shots but could easily have led to a goal. Lies, damned lies and statistics.
  3. Judging from the side of the pitch a draw was a fair result.
  4. The BBC are suggesting that any sale of King relies on Bournemouth picking up Jarred Bowen but that West Ham are favourites for him.
  5. One thing we can be sure about is that Mowbray does not have a Geordie accent.
  6. I'm off to New Zealand on holiday next week and will be missing the next 5 home games, so tonight is my last home game until Leeds in April, so there was never any doubt I would be going. I half expected this game to be rearranged for when I'm away as well so I'm thankful for small mercies.
  7. My point was that VED is not designed to fund road infrastructure improvements and hasn't done for 80 years.
  8. There’s no such tax as road tax and hasn’t been since the 1930s. What you are referring to is vehicle excise duty, which is determined on the CO2 emissions of the vehicle. There is no link between what is raised from this and what is spent on road infrastructure. Your second paragraph should surely logically lead to less car use, particularly if it’s accompanied with greater spending on public transport. Clearly some people need cars to make awkward journeys, either because of the time of the day or location, but by definition these journeys by and large aren’t being made at peak congestion times.
  9. You could just have said he was in Iceland and we could have had another 10 pages of speculation about signing a young Icelandic prodigy.
  10. As long as they let Adarabioyo pass the ball through their midfield like Wednesday did we'll still be fine........
  11. Seen it? I wrote it! It's a rewording of the Fans Forum minutes.
  12. Be very careful with that example. For split ticketing like that to work you must be on a train that stops at the station where you are splitting your ticket. In that example the fast trains don't stop at Milton Keynes so it won't work. You can do it on the trains that go via Birmingham which also stop at Milton Keynes, but they take an hour longer. It might work taking the via Birmingham train and changing at Crewe as long as the second train stops at Milton Keynes.
  13. Bear in mind that the left back he was turning inside out was Morgan Fox, who was being talked about as a possible for us in the transfer thread. The young right back who was being tortured by Armstrong and Bell was substituted after half an hour.
  14. He was a lot better today but still some way away from the best Rovers player on the pitch. A needless booking which Led to his substitution. I’ll draw a veil over an awful performance at Birmingham.
  15. I’ve not seen the red card yet apart from live at a distance of 100 yards, from which we had no idea. However, every single Wednesday fan I spoke to both in the ground and heard on Radio Sheffield said that it made absolutely no difference to the result. We were 1-0 up at the time and looking completely in control. The score might have been a bit less but we would have won anyway. An element of caution though - this was at least as much a terrible Wednesday performance as a great Rovers one.
  16. I had an interesting perspective on this, watching the game from the Eastbank with my Wednesday supporting mate. If anyone thinks any Rovers fans have given the team a bad time at times this season they should have been with me. Watching with the home fans you tend to watch the home players a bit more than you would. They were truly terrible today and basically allowed us to play as we wanted - Tosin had an age to lay a decisive through ball time after time - Brentford made the same mistake when we beat them but other teams since have been wise to it. Their starting 11 was the same as their last two away wins at Brighton in the cup and at Leeds last week, although by all accounts the wins were not as impressive as they look. I've certainly never seen so many fans leave so early from a game. A significant number never came back after half time and then literally thousands walked out when we got the fourth very early in the second half.. I doubt barely half the 23K who started the match made it to the final whistle. Philipl's Sheffield landlords will have made another killing this afternoon. And I was in the programme!
  17. You can still get tickets from Preston for £66 return on 17th Feb or £44 with a railcard. I would normally be going to this with my son and daughter-in-law living close but I'll be in New Zealand (and missing 5 home games as well).
  18. Wednesday's form is not particularly good in recent weeks. They won 2-0 away at Leeds last time out, but with 33% possession and 2 shots on target. Before that three defeats in a row including their last 2 home games.
  19. I do not intend to get into this debate at all except to say that what has been posted on this thread about last night's Forum is not correct. Both the subject of FFP and the transfer window were on the agenda and discussed but the reports of what Steve Waggott said are wrong. I won't comment any more on this until the minutes have been agreed and published
  20. The next meeting will be at Ewood on Thursday 6th February at 6pm.
  21. Rothwell's first instinct is always to run with the ball and try to beat players - that's why a lot of people have got excited about him. But there is just not enough end product. At Huddersfield he was out of the game until about 5 minutes from half time when he twice picked the ball up and beat a player or two before giving the ball away. He might as well be more like Smallwood and give it away quicker to speed the game up. He doesn't yet seem to have the nous to pick and choose when to run, when to pick out a killer pass and when to just move the ball. Sat in the middle of the park he just gives the ball away too much.
  22. Blimey, did you not see him in the cup at Birmingham? At Huddersfield he spent the first half on the wing and barely touched the ball. That was an improvement on his game at Birmingham - at least at Huddersfield he wasn't messing anything up.
  23. If anyone is driving to the game from the north west be aware that the M6 is closed all weekend from 9pm tonight until 5am Monday morning between junctions 32 and 33 i.e. from the M55 at Broughton to Galgate south of Lancaster. The A6 will be carnage all weekend.
  24. They have actually failed to score in 7 of their last 10 games.
  25. The reason they are up there was their excellent early season form. Recently it’s been worse than us. Their Christmas form was the same as ours, two draws and two losses although their’s were losses at home and draws away. Before that it was two wins and four losses. So 8 points from the last 30. They might still be up there but it’s in no way promotion form.
