  1. 2 goals and 4 assists (should be 6 - Brereton-Diaz / Dack have both missed absolute sitters that he's laid on a plate for them) isn't a bad return for £180k. He's a good squad player in a strong Championship team.
  2. Bloody hell, any opportunity eh? He's been replaced by a better player, Sorba Thomas, in the starting XI. That's how football works.
  3. That's a 15 yard flag for unsportsmanlike conduct in the NFL. Whether you like that sport or not it's far more physical than football. You can't posture over a player like that, it genuinely causes fights - the ref rightly booked both players.
  4. Unfortunately every game from here on out is going to be a struggle as we simply don't score enough goals. Unless Brereton-Diaz rediscovers his pre-Christmas form that is.
  5. Rightly so - you can't stand over someone like that.
  6. In some leagues that's a straight red for Palmer - slid through the back of the Sunderland player with no chance of winning the ball. Lucky boy to be still be on the pitch.
  7. Watching Coventry v Sunderland at lunchtime today. With Geldhart upfront, Mowbray has reverted to what he loves - everyone in his forward line is under 6'.
  8. I love the story Mark Nolan tells about Tugay:
  9. Rothwell used to run out of ideas when he got to the final third. Those runs were exciting, but he often just gave the ball away at the end of them.
  10. JDT keeps on mentioning Barnes too, so I assume he rates him?
  11. Man United didn't sign Tevez permanently because he was a poor trainer. Standards matter.
  12. There's zero plan to offer him a new deal - he's one of our highest earners and he misses half the season with injury every year. He's our best defender, but it's a position we're stocked at (I didn't think I'd be saying that at the start of the year!). Great opportunity for Phillips to get some game time.
  13. Who's scoring the goals? I'd also argue you're probably playing a Boro / Watford / Norwich in there too.
  14. Does anyone have an update on the 'internal game' they were playing on Wednesday night? Harlow and Leonard were pulled at half time of the Brighton U21 game to feature. I think A. Wharton was meant to get a run out, along with any unused subs from Tuesday.
  15. At this point I'd just like to stick with what we have and move the money to next season: start Buckley and Travis (difficult to break them up after recent performances), rotate in Garrett and A. Wharton - one of them should be getting at least 20 minutes a match. Morton can sit on the bench. If O'Brien was the best striker in the Championship then I'd continue to pursue this arbitration as that would make a massive difference. As it is we're possibly going to sneak into the Playoffs, but we aren't winning them with our without O'Brien.
  16. He's getting the right amount of playing time at the moment. Like Hedges, in a strong Championship team he should always be on the bench as a 20minute option to inject some energy into the game. As said bench player you're in line for a start with injuries and players losing form - he's taking that chance now. Let's hope he makes himself undroppable with a few more goals / assists before the end of the season.
  17. On an unrelated note - I'd love to see a replay of Hedges' flick late in the game. What was he thinking then? Thomas crossed into the box and he tried to flick it back to Morton (I think) rather than just taking the shot on. Was he blocked from having a clear shot on goal?
  18. Honestly we'll get blown away in the playoffs. We simply don't have the fire power to overcome a good team that's flying at the end of the season. Still, I'd love to get there - it'd be positive progress.
  19. His transformation as a player is remarkable. He was once a highly thought of youngster, but he obviously dropped off to the extent that we were looking to loan him this summer. Besides his attacking work - both down the flanks and drifting inside to play CM (credit to JDT and his Assistant Manager for that gem btw - Travis drops back to RB when he does that), his defensive basics are lovely to watch. I love seeing him nip in in front of a much faster wide player and wall them off on a through ball.
  20. The moaning and groaning when we're playing the ball around the back, looking for that incisive ball to a CM (where Buckley et al turns on it and runs into acres of space when they beat the press) grinds my gears. "I don't like this! Get rid!" etc is what you hear around me. I think they'd much rather we just hoof the ball up to Thomas and Gallagher and try to feed on the second balls.
  21. For the record we had 54 points and sat in 3rd at this point last season. We'd just started our Death Spiral.
