Wish they'd spend some money on the first team instead. We're frustratingly shite this year.

It's always produced players sound enough for the Championship. The difference is we used to be in the Premier League - so it required a talent at the level of Taylor / Dunn / Duff et al to make a mark. The bar to getting into our First Team squad used to be much higher.

The French lad has been here all week, apparently.

I mean it's completely par for the course - but we already know Eastham and Hilton aren't good enough. We've just signed Barrett, who they have behind Hilton in the pecking order, and obviously we still have Calamity Pears as our #1. It's like they're deliberately trying to get relegated.

For what purpose? It isn't reinvested into the playing squad.

He's the best athlete in the squad, but a terrible football player. They won't replace him, so it's all a moot point anyway - they'll just bank the transfer funds and prolong their death grip on this club.

That would just lengthen the Venky's stay as our owners. They're determined not to let go of control of the club, and they haven't put a penny in for a year now.

I can easily find this game for free on a stream, but having taken one look at that forward line I decided against it.

Seems Hilton is nailed on as our #2 too, which means the Barrett signing was pointless.

We needed another CB regardless with Wharton out for the year. You need at least 4 senior CBs. Ideally you need 5. We currently have 3, and 1 of them only has League 2 experience.

Downing was the player of the season the year before, I believe, and had a much higher ceiling (England international).

We did the same with Downing - he looked shite that season.

We're on the verge of "if they were playing a game in my back garden I'd close the curtains" - and I've got a season ticket!

They absolutely do not have financial problems - their owner is a billionaire. I know he's making them operate on a tight L1 budget, but that's a different matter.

We were comfortably in the bottom third of the Championship for wage budget last season. I suspect we're comfortably in the bottom three now. Free Agents require more in salary to acquire. The Championship mostly doesn't have a pot to piss in on transfer fees because it all goes into wages.

Along with Burnley, Hull and Derby. He's not coming here.
