  1. Where would he play? He's a poor CB and I'd rather play Alebiosu at RB.
  2. To be fair he looks more suited to CB than RB from what I've seen of him.
  3. They bid £2m for the Bristol City CB, so they're obviously looking for someone in that price range.
  4. Huuuuuuge gamble considering they didn't think O'Riordan was up to it a month ago.
  5. I mean he's a complete Championship plodder, but there's no way you're getting better in today. Would be suicide to sell him now.
  6. Fuck me, if we sold Hyam on deadline day...
  7. They only care about the bottom line - and clearly our resources are miniscule. Every player brought in has been funded by a player leaving and the wage budget has been slashed in the process. A wage budget that was already in the bottom third of the league. The clearly have no guarantees the owners will put sufficient money in and are being asked (or are being proactive) in trying to make our money stretch as far as possible. It's obviously a massive gamble, but the alternative is Brittain, Travis et al leaving on a free in the summer and us not being able to field a team next season - regardless of what division we're in.
  8. Playing time is one of his requirements - otherwise he might as well just stay at Sunderland.
  9. Tell you what, lads - some of you are wasted on here. You should be professional scouts as you're able to determine a player's ability in minutes.
  10. Yeah I don't even look at the parachute payment clubs, Birmingham, Wrexham, Boro or Coventry - they operate in a different world to us. They actually want to progresss.
  11. Or they've kept the transfer of a bloke with multiple international caps / a British passport who currently plays on the Continent incredibly quiet. I'd be impressed if that's the case.
  12. They'll be trying, but without those ESC places to play with and this hard £10k a week salary cap options will be very limited. Any of those targets from the Continent that would suit the above criteria would already be over for a medical (and those tend to leak out) so I suspect we're not going to sign anyone.
  13. "I think around 10 million euros was mentioned by Slovakian media" according to someone on Reddit.
  14. Will see - looks a bit slow and fat from the highlights videos I've just watched of him. I can actually see Gudjohnsen doing well here - he's the type of striker we've been missing.
  15. That we won't pay over £10k in wages and guarantee him playing time?
  16. I'd rather buy Cadamarteri and have him around the squad this year. He'll get a lot of minutes if he's any good.
  17. Which is why ideally we'd bring another winger in, but we won't. We can't be happy with Hedges starting games. Kargbo is better suited to being an impact sub and, as he's clearly carrying an injury right now, it benefits him to limit his minutes anyway.
  18. 90% of our signings we didn't know about until someone reported they were in for a medical. You might be right that Gudjohnsen is the last, but you can't say with certainty.
  19. Freebies cost more in wages - especially established Championship freebies. Loans cost a loan fee then you pay their wages for a year. Yes, they're hoping to a) survive and b) unearth a few players they can sell on for a big profit so they can keep the cycle / gravy train going for as long as possible.
  20. The ambition is to bob around in mid-table Championship obscurity for the lowest possible cost.
  21. It's fucking absurd they can steal him from us for £16m, do absolutely nothing to develop him, then ask for £150m 18 months later. Horrible club, I hope they get relegated.
  22. And the wage bill suitably obliterated.
  23. No, we're in the black. We're fighting against the tide.
  24. Absolute shitload of money has been spent this summer. Usually the Championship doesn't have two pennies to rub together.
  25. It's worth pointing out because it's abnormal.
