The England Team - all the news, views…

Total gulf in class between the two sides. Hanley way past his best for playing at this level - not sure he was ever at this level of football. -

Yes it's a decent interview - talks about the six months he's already been here. Outlines his job. Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do. -

I am absolutely delighted Matty. Couldn't happier to see the back of Broughton and Rudy installed. I think it's an interesting appointment and someone who will be able to relate to players in a way that Broughton couldn't. At the end of the day we all have to start our careers somewhere and no reason why Rudy shouldn't start here. -
2024/25 Season Tickets
Parsonblue replied to TheRevAshton's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Two points I would make: 1. If people don't have IT access - and I know it's hard for you to understand but I have several friends who don't have a smart phone, laptop, etc - they are FORCED to pay £10 more. 2. If we are a digital club why were season ticket holders, at the the last Under-21 game at Ewood, refused entry until they went back to the club shop to be given a PAPER ticket. Not quite so digital it seems. I will choose to pay the £10 to get my ticket in the club shop because I refuse to be railroaded into this non-personal system. It's why I never use self-service and make stores open up a till - which, surprisingly, they quickly do when faced with losing a customer. -
I must admit that City are the one Premier League team that I like to watch whenever they are on TV - which is an awful lot. Having good players is one thing but getting them to produce the same high standards week in and week out, year in and year out says a huge amount about Pep's man-management skills as well as his tactical skills. They play the most attractive football with a machine like precision. Every player who arrives at City gets assimilated into the same pattern of play but each adds their own little bit of flair to the team. I've seen some great teams during my lifetime but this City outfit is on a different level in terms of achievement and entertainment for me.

I honestly don't think GB was very good at his job. As always football is a game of opinions.

Don't understand offering Fleck a new deal with his previous injury record. It was a gamble that didn't pay off. Interesting that Saadi has been offered a new deal. I think he was on the way out last summer and has only featured in one Under-23 game this season. I always thought he had potential but having been frozen out for a year it seems a strange one. Also very surprised that Charlie Weston has been released - he looked very goods earlier this year. No surprises with the rest. Gally and Dolan were always going to have their options taken up and I'm sure they are keen to do a deal with McFadzean. Feel very sorry for Barnes and Fyles but injuries really have hit them hard. Sadly, Lenni seemed to lose his way once he got on the fringe of the first team. -
Sorry, I forgot that everyone has to share your views. Personally, Broughton never convinced me that he was up to bringing the required standard of player on a very limited budget. Managers like Furphy, Lee, Smith, Kendall, Saxton and Don Mackay all had little or no money to spend built decent teams nonetheless.

Tony Parkes and Simon Garner both came from non-League and didn't do too badly. The lower leagues do throw up decent players. -
Just glad he's gone to be honest.

The outstanding prospect in the Under-21's. Has made real progress this season and I believe will be challenging for a first team spot next season. Has pace to burn, tackles well when defending, and always looks a threat going forward.

As an ex-player I think he understands the game from a player's point of view more than GB. If the DofF is to work with the players then I think that is an important quality. Another plus with Rudy is that he has links with the Blackburn community already and has been a constant presence at Ewood and Brockhall for a number of months now so is in tune with what is happening. Of course, it may not be Rudy who gets the job if, indeed, GB goes, but I must admit that I would welcome him.

I must admit that Broughton has never convinced me due to his lack of experience at first team level. We've had managers in the past with no money to spend but who brought in players for next to nothing who could actually do a job. Broughton seemed happier at Academy level. If rumours about Rudy are true I'd be more than happy.

Must admit that I always preferred him to Batty. Seems Gent has made significant progress this season whilst Batty has been in and out, in terms of form this season. Be interesting to see if Gent is brought back. Hopefully, Eustace gets a chance to look at him in pre-season. -
John Eustace - our head coach
Parsonblue replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I think Birmingham tried that this season but it didn't end well - happy to say. -
What a day of emotions and a remainder of why, after 60 odd years of following Rovers, I'll still renew my season ticket and my away travel season ticket for next season. Rovers have never done anything the easy way and this season has been no different. I've always believed we would survive but I must admit there were times when I started to wonder. Today, as at Leeds, Eustace got the tactics spot on and the players stood up to the pressure and delivered when their backs were against the wall. Szmodics had been a revelation this season and has been a joy to watch. At times, when running through on goal, he'sbrought back memories of Andy McEvoy and Tony Field for me and the feeling that he would never miss in those situations. However, I also think that McFadzean has been a key signing and today he was magnificent, a real leader on the pitch who organises and encourages whilst also being a formidable barrier in defence. At times he's looked like a second coming of John McNamee and I can offer no greater praise than that. I hope the owners will provide Eustace with support this summer because I think he has the makings of a decent manager who seems suited to a club like Rovers. How Birmingham must reject getting rid for Rooney. I must admit that I won't miss not going to St. Andrews next season.

I agree with regard to season ticket sales and the new TV deal is more likely to decrease sales rather than increase them. I looked at Sunderland and Leeds with 40,000 and 30,000 plus on each ground and fans paying £30 + per ticket. I'm going to have to pay £33 at Leicester and that's an OAP price! FFP makes it almost impossible to compete income wise over the course of a 46 game season. Hence, I can understand why we will try to fill the Darwen End whenever we can. -

So what you are saying is that our players can't perform if there are 7,000 visiting fans at Ewood. However, they can perform in front of 30 odd thousand home fans at Leeds and 40 odd thousand home fans at Sunderland. I'm not sure I follow that argument. At the end of the day we won't agree on this. For me we need the cash and in the 60 odd years I've supported the club the number of visiting away fans has never really seemed an issue. -

I thought we won at Sunderland and Leeds and Newcastle was one of our best performances. I know we lost under JDT to Sunderland and Leeds at home but I was referring to more recent events. -

Why wouldn't you? Football is a business and if 7,000 people want to give Rovers 30 quid we are no position not to take it. If the argument is that the players will be impacted by it then I really don't buy that argument - the Leeds, Sunderland and Newcastle games would suggest they are more than capable of handling it. -
For me, Dolan would always be one of the first names on the teamsheet. His work rate is tremendous and even when some of his decision making lets him down, he never stops trying. He never hides on the pitch when things aren't always going his way. I don't get the theory that he's not quick - he's shown that on numerous occasions, and his control and pass yesterday was a perfect example of what he can bring to the team. His attitude, the setbacks he faced in life, the way he has overcome his struggles with mental health, would suggest that this is the short of lad you want representing your club. For me, he is one player that I would want to get signed up to a new contract. I've always believed that he is a cracking little player. The fact he has played so many games, under three different managers, would suggest that he his highly regarded by those who work with him on a daily basis.

I thought we were excellent today in terms of the game plan. The Championship is an insane League - after Wednesday night's debacle we get this tremendous display. Although I've always felt we would survive, I must admit to breathing easier tonight. Not totally out of the woods but a good way there now I think. I really do believe that Eustace will turn out to be a very good manager for this club in the long run. There's a touch of Mowbray about him but also reminds me of Bob Saxton - gets a good response from players and just gets everyone working for each other. -

Not helped, but December and January are the games against relegation rivals that JDT couldn't win that have really hurt us. We failed to beat Rotherham, and Huddersfield home and away. Same with Plymouth. -

Parsonblue replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Personally, yes. If he was still here we would be relegated without doubt. He lost interest and the players in December. One win and six defeats in December and in his last four games in Jan/Feb it was two draws and two defeats in the league. We lost away to Sheffield Wed and Huddersfield and then only drew with Rotherham and Huddersfield at home and lost to QPR at home. Those results are really hurting us now. For me, its those two months, when we had winnable games that have really come back to bite us. -

I must admit that I was sat at Ashton Gate last night totally bemused by the performance. It came out of the blue as the previous three or four performances had been totally the opposite of what we saw last night. At the end of the day human error is something you can't legislate for and the goals were a result of players making basic mistakes. You could see the confidence drain from the players as the mistakes were made. I don't believe any of the present squad go onto the pitch to intentionally have a bad game but they are human and not robots, so mistakes will happen and results like this will happen. However, the game has gone and the only thing that matters is the next four fixtures. Eustace is right when he says that all that matters is responding to defeat in the right way. We don't have a big enough squad to make wholesale changes so he has to work with what he has. I still believe that these players and this manager are more than good enough to keep us up. Obviously, the game against Wednesday is going to be key to survival but we are good enough to beat them if we play as we can.
